S P I R I T U A L W A R F A R E

 

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled."  II Corinthians 10:3-6

I. BATTLE FRONTS: There are two battle-fronts for every Christian.

A. Self-inflicted or self perpetuated problems

These problems are brought on by our own negligence or indifference (i.e.—not paying your bills; not taking care of your health; not doing proper maintenance on your auto or home.)

B. Satanic-inflicted or satanic- perpetuated problems and battles

The devil will use anything or anyone he can to do spiritual battle with you. He will use people, such as family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, even strangers. He will use things, such as a job, car, mechanical devices, weather, music, books, TV, etc.

Though Satan uses people and things, our enemy is not the specific person or the things being used the enemy is the devil.

C. The devil is already a defeated foe! Jesus took care of him for us. But we do need to appropriate the works of Calvary in our daily lives. If we can ever master the flesh and its desires, the conquest of the devil is a snap! He is, and knows that he is, no match for the saint of God who has conquered their self-life and knows their God! Jesus said in Luke 10:19 "…..Behold, I give you power (exousia/authority)……over ALL power (dunamis/miraculous ability) of the enemy……"

1. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

2. Wiles - Methodeias (Greek) meaning methods, the various means, plans and schemes used by the devil.

3. Wrestle - Pale (Greek) meaning to strike, thrust, throw with violence and intensity. It refers to the warfare in general between the saints and evil spirits out to destroy us.

4. So, we see that our battle is not with flesh and blood (persons or things) but a spiritual battle with the enemy of our soul.

II. FOUR TERMS TO DESCRIBE THE SPIRITS WE BATTLE: Ephesians 6:12

A. Paul uses four descriptive words to make us understand exactly what and who we are fighting with. As you can see, there are four levels of spiritual warfare.

1.       PRINCIPALITIES: These are the Chief rulers or beings of the highest rank and order in the satanic kingdom. Every single nation in the world has a principality over it.

2. POWERS: These are those who derive their power from and who execute the will of the chief rulers (principalities) Supernatural influences in government.

3. RULERS OF THE DARKNESS: These are the spirit-world rulers, or lords of the age. Such as lust, depression, fear, perversion, etc. that may plague a person personally. (Ephesians 2:2)

4. SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS: These are the wicked spirits sent by Satan.

B. The devil is, according to Ephesians 2:2 "…the prince and power of the air…” The Satan cannot set up a kingdom over an area unless man has first mapped it out and given it a name. (Once again we can clearly see by this, man’s dominion over the devil, IF he will exercise it.) For example: the Prince of Persia in Daniel 10:13, the Prince of Greece in Daniel 10:20, and Paul’s beasts at Ephesus in I Corinthians 15:32.

C. In Revelation 2:12-13 "…Satan’s seat…..where Satan dwelleth…." reveals to us that satanic influence and control ONLY resides where men have given him their will and authority to exercise. Satan did not do away with the angelic order of authority, but kept it and uses it where men give him control. In this manner he has gained some measure of control of many world systems and governments. Remember this; the enemy’s domain is only territorial. He is not the ruler and controller of the world! The Bible says in Psalms 24:1 "….The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof."

 III. SATAN’S LIMITATIONS

Satan has many limitations. He is not as powerful as many proclaim him to be. He is not who many think he is.

A. HE IS NOT EQUAL WITH GOD:

Satan was cast out of heaven for declaring himself equal with God. It was the original sin in heaven. Lucifer dared to exalt himself to be like God when he clearly was not.

B. HE IS A FALLEN ANGEL:

      He is subject to the limitations of an angel. He is equivalent to an angel.

C. HE IS NOT OMNIPOTENT (all powerful):

Only God has all power. Satan’s power is limited by what God allows him to do in the earth. He can do no more or no less (I John 4:4).

D. HE IS NOT OMNISCIENT (all knowing):

Though he does not have the "all knowing" power of God, he does have more knowledge than mere humanity. He has been studying humanity’s habits for 6,000 years. He is more aware of the end of time than we are. He knows that his time is short.

E. HE IS NOT OMNIPRESENT (all places at once):

God fills the universe. Because Satan is a fallen angel he is limited to one place at a time. He can go from place to place as swiftly as an angel, but he cannot be in two places at once. This is where satanic command comes into play. He orders spirits to go to and fro doing his will.

F. HE CANNOT KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS OR READ YOUR MIND:

You can pray in your mind (silently), or in the spirit (in tongues), and he cannot know what you are asking God or rebuking in your mind.

He doesn’t even know if the temptations he drops in your mind are working unless you manifest them outwardly or dwell on them. When you are tempted, start thinking good thoughts, pray, think of a worship chorus, etc. The evil thoughts will flee and Satan’s strategy is defeated.

 IV. WE’RE NOT IGNORANT OF HIS DEVICES (II Corinthians 2:11)

A. Satan is a liar and the father of all liars. All lies come from him. His biggest lie is that he has power over you, your life, your family, your job, etc. This is not true! As we understand his lies, we become more powerful in our fight against evil.

B. He cannot get an advantage over us if we know his tricks. How do we learn his tricks? Reading in the scripture where he tried to trip up other men and women of God. He still uses the same tactics today.

 V. THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE - What weapons of warfare are at the disposal of the child of God?

A. HIS NAME:

At the sound of the name of Jesus the devil trembles. We have power of attorney. We have been given the right to use His name because we are his children and have been baptized in His name (Mark 16:17; Luke 10:17)

B. HIS POWER (Holy Ghost) AND AUTHORITY IN US:

Luke 10:19 "…..Behold, I give you power (exousia/authority)………over all power (dunamis/miraculous ability) of the enemy……"

The word “power” comes from the Greek word dunamis (Acts 1:8). From that Greek word we get the word “dynamite”.

Matthew 10:1 “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”

C. PRAYER AND FASTING: (Matthew 17:21)

Where there is much prayer, there is much power; where there is little prayer, there is little power; where there is no prayer, there is no power at all. The devil can’t handle a child of God who prays and fasts.

D. THE ANGELS OF THE LORD: (Jude 1:9, Hebrews 12:22, Revelation 20:1-3)

E. THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB: Revelation 12:11

F. OUR TESTIMONY: Revelation 12:11

G. THE WORD OF GOD: Hebrews 4:12

 VI. YOU ARE PART OF A POWERFUL CHURCH (II Corinthians 10:4-6)

 A. DESTRUCTION OF STRONGHOLDS:

We stand against the philosophies of the day which are competing for a stronghold in society. This includes such things as Humanism, evolution, abortion, New Age, immoral value systems, etc. We stand against the dogma and tradition of man made religion.

We stand against the thinking and attitudes of Godless people who intend to change the laws of our nation to anti-God laws and standards.

B. CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS:

We defy and intend to destroy, through prayer, all theory, reasoning, religion, mythology, metaphysics, sublime doctrines, or philosophy set forth to divide or defy the knowledge of God.

C. BRINGING INTO CAPTIVITY:

We take every thought prisoner and lead it into captivity to obey Christ. Lascivious, vain and evil thoughts of all kinds are brought down and made obedient to the law of God. This includes all thinking which is contrary to virtue, purity and righteousness.

D. HAVING A READINESS:

We stand at all times ready to purge anything opposing the Word of God.

 

FORZANDO LAS PUERTAS DEL INFIERNO

"Y yo también te digo, que tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta roca edificaré mi iglesia; y las puertas del Hades no prevalecerán contra ella. Y a ti te daré las llaves del reino de los cielos; y todo lo que atares en la tierra será atado en los cielos; y todo lo que desatares en la tierra será desatado en los cielos."  Mateo 16:18-19

Quiero que veamos a nuestra ciudad como una gran fortaleza construida por Satanás. Satanás ha construido un muro alrededor de esta ciudad. Utilizando piedras del materialismo, la educación, la política, la ignorancia, la religión y muchas otras cosas, ha construido lo que parece ser una defensa invencible contra el evangelio. Dentro de estas paredes, cientos de personas mueren cada día sin Cristo. Considere las paredes que Satanás ha constituido alrededor de esta ciudad y verás las puertas del infierno cerrado al avance del evangelio.

Esto es lo que el Señor tenía en mente cuando le dijo a Pedro: "Edificaré mi iglesia, y las puertas del hades no prevalecerán contra ella." Él no dijo: "Edificaré mi iglesia, y aunque toda la fuerza de infierno se lanza contra ella, mi iglesia estará firme" Sin embargo, esa es la forma en que muy a menudo muchos predicadores y creyentes presentan este verso, cuando en realidad Jesús estaba diciendo todo lo contrario.

Las puertas no son armas ofensivas! Una ciudad nunca carga con sus puertas a la batalla. Las puertas son instrumentos de defensa. Se construyen  para resistir los asaltos de ejércitos que atacan.

Dos cosas deben ser claras del uso de esta metáfora por el Señor.

A. Satanás está en la defensa!

    Él es como los ciudadanos de Jericó, escondiéndose detrás de las murallas de la ciudad, temiendo el ataque del pueblo de Dios.

B. La iglesia es la que está en el ataque!

    Deberíamos confiadamente llevar la batalla a todos los lugares donde vemos las puertas del infierno construido con la confianza que no prevalecerán contra nosotros, no puede prevalecer contra la iglesia que ejerce la autoridad dada por Jesús a ella.

LA NATURALEZA AUTORITARIA DE LA IGLESIA (v-18)

A. El significado de la palabra iglesia (ekklesia) es. "Una asamblea llamada afuera" Hechos 15:14 nos da quizás la definición más clara de una iglesia: "Simón ha contado Como Dios visito Por Primera Vez a Los Gentiles, pará Tomar de ellos pueblo pará Su Nombre."

B. Jesús optó por utilizar esta palabra debido a las similitudes entre la iglesia y la ekklesias de ese día.

C. La Ekklesia era un asamblea con autoridad que rige los asuntos del pueblo. Y Jesús no alterar su significado.

D. En estos versículos Jesús habla de "llaves" y "atar y desatar". Estos son términos de autoridad. Jesús estaba declarando sus intenciones de llamar un grupo de personas que se reúnen en su nombre. Eso sería investido de su autoridad y que llevaría a cabo su voluntad en la tierra.

E. La Iglesia no Satanás, mantiene el equilibrio de poder en el evangelismo mundial.

F. Mateo introduce la Gran Comisión con las palabras: "Toda potestad me es dada en el cielo y en la tierra."

G. Esta declaración invierte a la iglesia con el potencial de ser la fuerza más poderosa en la Tierra!

LA NATURALEZA AGRESIVA DE LA IGLESIA:

A. La iglesia debe estar en la marcha (v-18)

B. La imagen que Cristo utiliza es de un ejército en el campo avanzando contra una ciudad fortificada.

1. El término "puertas del infierno" nos dice que el ejército de Satanás está preparado, dispuesto a defender su territorio.

2. Hay lugares en esta ciudad donde Satanás tiene gente esclavizada.

3. No podemos librar a ninguna alma de la esclavitud sin cuestionar la autoridad de Satanás.    

4. La iglesia debe estar en el ataque, luchando para romper las defensas del diablo y librar a los perdidos de su poder.

C. Cuando las puertas del infierno son atacados, caerán!

     1. Jesús prometió que las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra la iglesia.

2. Sabemos por experiencia que llevando la luz a los lugares oscuros se encuentra con una feroz resistencia.

3. Sólo cuando las puertas del infierno se derrumban  podemos hacer el evangelio disponible a las personas.

4. Esto no significa que caigan fácilmente. Pero, a través de la oración, el ayuno y la lucha persistente, las puertas del infierno pueden ser forzadas.

Esta ciudad y las ciudades vecinas están fuertemente fortificada y firmemente en manos de Satanás. Sólo la oración y el ayuno pueden prevalecer contra las puertas del infierno que Satanás  ha edificado, y sólo a través de la oración y el ayuno podemos derrumbarse los muros de resistencia que rodea a las personas con las que mantiene cautivo. Por esta razón, la oración y el ayuno debe ser nuestra primera línea de avance.

No hay sustituto por las oraciones fervientes y persistentes y el ayuno de la iglesia. La obra de la evangelización de esta ciudad no será logrado sin ello. Hay que organizar y movilizar a la iglesia en oración y ayuno para asaltar las puertas del infierno que prohíben el avance del evangelio en esta ciudad y otros.

Es tiempo de que algunos de ustedes dejar de ser sólo una línea de suministro para nuestros hermanos que están evangelizando y unirse a ellos en la primera línea de la evangelización a través de la oración y la acción.

FORCING THE GATES OF HELL

"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:18-19

I want us to view this city as a great fortress constructed by Satan. Satan has built a wall around this cities. Using stones of materialism, education, politics, ignorance, religion and many other things, he has constructed what appears to be an impregnable defense against the Gospel. Within these walls, hundreds of people die every day without Christ. Consider the walls that Satan has erected around this city and you will see the Gates of Hell shut and barred against the advancement of the Gospel.

 

This is what Jesus had in mind when He said to Peter, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” He did not say, “I will build my church, and though all the strength of hell be hurled against it, my church shall stand.” Yet, that is the way this verse is often portrayed by many preachers and believers when in fact Jesus was stating just the opposite.  

 

Gates are not offensive weapons! A city never carried its gates into battle. Gates are instruments of defense. They are erected to withstand the assaults of attacking armies.

 

Two things should be clear from Jesus’ use of this metaphor.

 

A. Satan is on the defense!

     He is like the citizens of Jericho, hiding behind their city walls, fearing the attack of God’s people.

B. The church is to be on the attack!

     We should confidently take the battle to every place where we see the gates of hell erected with the confidents that

      they will not prevail against us, it cannot stand against the church that exercises the authority given her by Jesus.

THE AUTHORITATIVE NATURE OF THE CHURCH (v-18)

 A. The meaning of the word church (ekklesia) is “an assembly of called out ones.” Acts 15:14 gives us perhaps the clearest definition of a church: “Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name."

 B. Jesus chose to use this word because of the similarities between the church and the Ekklesias of that day.

 C. The Ekklesia was an authoritative body that governed the affairs of the people. And Jesus did not alter its meaning.

 D. In these verses Jesus speaks of “keys” and “binding and loosing.” These are terms of authority. Jesus was declaring His intentions of calling out a body of people who would meet in His Name. That would be invested with His authority and that would implement His will upon the earth.

 E. The Church, not Satan, holds the balance of power in world evangelism.

 F. Matthew introduces the Great Commission with the words; “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

G. That declaration invests the church with the potential to be the mightiest force on Earth!

THE AGGRESSIVE NATURE OF THE CHURCH:

 A. The church is to be on the march (v-18)

 B. The image Christ uses is of an army in the field advancing on a fortified city.

      1. The term “gates of hell” tells us that Satan’s army is dug in, prepared to defend its territory.

2. There are places in this city where he holds people bondage.

3. We can’t deliver a single soul from bondage without challenging Satan’s authority.

4. The church is to be on the attack, battling to break through the devil’s defenses and deliver the lost from his power.

C. When the gates of hell are attacked, they will fall!

1. Jesus promised that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.

2. We know from experience that taking the light into dark places is met with fierce resistance.

3. Only when the gates of hell are broken down can we make the Gospel available to the people.

4. This doesn’t mean that they will fall easily. But, through persistent prayer, fasting and struggle, the gates of hell can be forced open.

This city and the surrounding cities are strongly fortified and firmly held by Satan. Only prayer and fasting can prevail against the Gates of Hell he has set up, and only through prayer and fasting can we crumble the walls of resistance that surrounds the people he holds captive. For this reason, prayer and fasting must be our first line of advance.

There is no substitute for the fervent, persistent prayers and fasting of the church. The work of evangelizing this city will not be accomplished without it. We must organize and mobilize the church in prayer and fasting to assault the Gates of Hell that prohibit the advance of the Gospel in this city and others.

It is time that some of you quit being just a supply line for our brothers who are evangelizing and join them on the front lines of Evangelism through prayer and action.

LA RESTAURACIÓN

“Bienaventurado aquel cuya transgresión ha sido perdonada, y cubierto su pecado. Bienaventurado el hombre a quien Jehová no culpa de iniquidad, Y en cuyo espíritu no hay engaño. Mientras callé, se envejecieron mis huesos. En mi gemir todo el día. Porque de día y de noche se agravó sobre mí tu mano; Se volvió mi verdor en sequedades de verano. Mi pecado te declaré, y no encubrí mi iniquidad. Dije: Confesaré mis transgresiones a Jehová; Y tú perdonaste la maldad de mi pecado.” Salmo 32:1-5

Hay varias palabras Griegas que se traducen pecado en el Nuevo Testamento. Aquí están cuatro de ellos:

A. Hamartia: Errarle al blanco (Romanos 5:12)

B. Hamartama: Haciendo un acto malvado (I Corintios 6:14).

C. Paraptoma: Desviarse del camino (Mateo 6:18).

D. Parábasis: Cruzar una frontera conocida (Romanos 5:14).

La mayoría de los creyentes creen que el pecado es pecado y que no hay ninguna diferencia es todo igual. La verdad es que hay una gran e importante diferencia. La Palabra de Dios usa varias palabras para describir el pecado y distinguir los diferentes tipos de pecado: transgresión, pecado, iniquidad y engaño.

Estas cuatro cosas: la transgresión, el pecado, la iniquidad y el engaño, son cuatro diferentes tipos de pecado y tienen que ser tratadas de diferentes maneras.

A. Transgresión (parábasis): Ir más allá de un límite conocido. Antes de la ley había pecado pero no la transgresión.

B. Pecado (hamartia): Errar el blanco, faltar en lo que Dios quiere que hagamos.

C. Iniquidad (hamartama): Anarquía, una persona no quiere obedecer la ley de Dios o del hombre. Hace excusas para el pecado. (Mateo 7:22-23)

D. Engaño (paraptoma): Astucia, culpa. El engaño es el ocultamiento o la distorsión de la verdad con el propósito de inducir a error.

En Salmos 32:5 vemos como David trató con estos cuatro:

A. Él reconoció su pecado

B. Él no escondió su iniquidad

C. Él confesó su transgresión

D. Él reconoció la decepción de su pecado (la iniquidad de mi pecado)

Estas cuatro cosas pueden verse también en el Salmo 51.

Hay muchos creyentes que, debido a que no conocen la diferencia entre estos cuatro y cómo tratar con ellos, han sido perdonados, pero no han tenido su gozo restaurado.

El objetivo principal de un creyente que ha pecado es ir más allá del perdón y que su gozo y su lugar en Dios sea restaurado. El perdón no es la cuestión. Dios perdonara, eso es su naturaleza.

Hay un gozo de saber que nuestros pecados son perdonados, pero hay un mayor gozo de tener la aprobación de Dios hacia nosotros restaurado. Muchos creyentes nunca han conocido este gozo.

En Salmos 51 las palabras "Tu presencia" significa de su rostro. El rostro de Dios no es el perdón, pero su favor (aceptación o aprobación).

Una de los problemas que enfrenta el que se ha retirado del Señor, cuando él vuelve a Dios, es que él sabe que él ha sido perdonado, pero él no tiene el gozo que él una vez tenía en el Señor.

Él espera que Dios lo llene de gozo el momento que él confiesa y se arrepiente de sus pecados. ¿Cómo puede Dios darle gozo si él lo ha decepcionado? El tiene que ganar Su favor otra vez. No sé como un creyente que ha pecado y no ha sido restaurado al favor de Dios puede vivir en paz; “Vuélveme el gozo de tu salvación, y espíritu noble me sustente” Salmos 51:12.

Cuando usted está fuera del favor de Dios usted no tiene gozo o libertad. Usted adora con su cuerpo y alma, pero su espíritu no adora. La razón es porque hay culpa y usted está fuera del favor de Dios.

La alabanza es lo primero que regresa cuando Dios te da gozo y es lo primero que se pierde cuando usted peca (Salmos 51:15).

Cuando escondemos nuestra transgresión, comenzamos a sentir el peso de la transgresión sobre nosotros (Salmo 32:3-4). El propósito del peso de la trasgresión es para llevarnos a la confesión (Proverbios 28:13).

RESTORATION

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” Psalms 32:1-5

 

There are number of Greek words which are translated sin in the New Testament. Here are four of them:

 

A. Hamartia: Missing the mark (Romans 5:12).

B. Hamartama: Doing an evil deed (I Corinthians 6:18).

C. Paraptoma: Differing from the path (Matthew 6:14).

D. Parabasis: Stepping across a know boundary (Romans 5:14).

Most believers think that sin is sin and that there is no difference it is all the same. The truth is that there is a big and important difference. The Word of God uses various words to describe sin and to distinguish the different types of sin: transgression, sin, iniquity and deceit.  

These four things: transgression, sin, iniquity and deceit, are four different types of sin and they have to be dealt with in different ways.

A. Transgression (parabasis): To go beyond a known limit. Before the Law there was sin but no

      transgression.

B. Sin (hamartia): To miss the mark, to fall short of what God wants us to do.

C. Iniquity (hamartama): Lawlessness, a person will not obey the law of God or man. Making excuses for sin.  (Matthew 7:22-23)

D. Deceit (paraptoma): Guile, cunning, guilt. Deceit is concealment or distortion of the truth for the

     purpose of misleading.

 In Psalms 32:5 we see how David dealt with these four:

 A. He acknowledged his sin

 B. He did not hid his iniquity

 C. He confessed his transgression

 D. He acknowledged the deceitfulness of his sin (the iniquity of my sin)

These four things can also be seen in Psalms 51.

There are many believers who, because they do not know the difference between these four and how to deal with them; have been forgiven but have not had their joy restored.

The main objective of a believer that has sinned is to go past and beyond forgiveness and have his joy and his place in God restored. Forgiveness is not the issue. God will forgive, that’s His nature.

There is a joy of knowing our sins are forgiven, but there is a greater joy of having the approval of God towards us restored. Many believers have never known this joy.

In Psalms 51:11 the words “Thy Presence” means from his face. God’s face is not forgiveness, but his favor (acceptance or approval).

One of the problems that a backslider faces when he comes back to God is that he knows he has been forgiven, but he doesn’t have the joy that he once had in the Lord.

He expects God to fill him with joy the moment he confesses and repents of his sins. How can God give him joy if he has disappointed Him? He has to earn God's favor once again. I don’t know how a believer who has sinned and has not been restored to God’s favor can live in peace: “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit” Psalm 51:12.

When you are out of God’s favor you don’t have joy or liberty. You worship with your body and soul, but your spirit will not worship. The reason is because there is guilt and you are out of God’s favor.

Praise is the first thing to return to you when God gives you joy and it is the first thing to go when you sin (Psalms 51:15).

When we hide our transgression, we began to feel the weight of transgression upon us (Psalms 32:3-4). The weight of transgression is meant to drive us to confession (Proverbs 28:13).

“Pasado el día de reposo, al amanecer del primer día de la semana, vinieron María Magdalena y la otra María, a ver el sepulcro. Y hubo un gran terremoto; porque un ángel del Señor, descendiendo del cielo y llegando, removió la piedra, y se sentó sobre ella. Su aspecto era como un relámpago, y su vestido blanco como la nieve. Y de miedo de él los guardas temblaron y se quedaron como muertos. Mas el ángel, respondiendo, dijo a las mujeres: No temáis vosotras; porque yo sé que buscáis a Jesús, el que fue crucificado. No está aquí, pues ha resucitado, como dijo. Venid, ved el lugar donde fue puesto el Señor.” Mateo 28:1-6

¡Él no está aquí, ha resucitado! Estas seis palabras declaran la verdad más importante en la Biblia entera. ¿Usted puede preguntar, “Podía alguna verdad ser más importante que la verdad del nacimiento virginal de Cristo o, la verdad de la cruz de Calvario? ¿O los milagros que Cristo hizo, sanar los enfermos, dar la vista a los ciegos, y resucitando los muertos?” ¡Sí! ¡Porque, no importa lo que hizo Jesús, o quién era, si la muerte lo podría haber mantenido en la tumba, todo lo demás hubiera sido en vano!

La cruz y la resurrección de Jesús son inseparables, el uno demanda el otro. Si Jesús no hubiera muerto no habría por supuesto ninguna resurrección, de ahí ninguna fe, ninguna salvación, ninguna nueva creación; pero se no hubiera conquistado la muerte, el infierno, y la tumba Su muerte hubiera sido en vano. ¡Por lo tanto aquellos  que niegan Su resurrección más vale que nieguen que fue crucificado! “Porque si no hay resurrección de muertos, tampoco Cristo resucitó. Y si Cristo no resucitó, vana es entonces nuestra predicación, vana es también vuestra fe. Y somos hallados falsos testigos de Dios; porque hemos testificado de Dios que él resucitó a Cristo, al cual no resucitó, si en verdad los muertos no resucitan. Porque si los muertos no resucitan, tampoco Cristo resucitó; y si Cristo no resucitó, vuestra fe es vana; aún estáis en vuestros pecados. Entonces también los que durmieron en Cristo perecieron. Si en esta vida solamente esperamos en Cristo, somos los más dignos de conmiseración de todos los hombres” (I Corintios 15:12-19).

El diablo hizo todo en su poder de mantener a Jesús de la cruz. Él sabía que si Jesús alcanzara el Calvario, Su muerte en la cruz eventualmente traería la caída de su reino. Satanás reunió todas las fuerzas del infierno, en un intento de destruir a Jesús antes de que él alcanzara la cruz, pero la Biblia nos dice en Colosenses 2:15 que Jesús, “despojando a los principados y a las potestades, los exhibió públicamente, triunfando sobre ellos en la cruz.” Cuando Jesús oro en el Jardín de Getsemaní, Él vio todas las fuerzas del infierno aliados juntos para aplastarlo; pero un Ángel fue enviado para fortalecerlo y El obtuvo la victoria, poniendo al infierno a una vergüenza abierta.

El diablo trató de matar a Jesús cuando fue azotado por los romanos pero no lo logro. Él trató de matarlo bajo el peso de la cruz y falló. ¡Jesús vino al mundo para morir en la cruz, y ni el diablo y todas las fuerzas del infierno no podían pararlo!  Incluso después de que Él llegó a la cruz y murió allí, ellos pensaron que ellos podrían mantenerlo en la tumba por poniendo una piedra pesada en frente de la entrada, sellándolo con el sello imperial de Roma, y poniendo una guardia romana enfrente de ella. Pero ellos no habían tomado en cuenta el poder de Dios y el hecho que no era posible que la muerte lo detuviera porque Él era Dios mismo manifestado en la carne como dice el evangelio de San Juan 1:14; “Y aquel Verbo fue hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros.”

¡No era posible que la muerte detuviera a Jesús! La muerte es el resultado del pecado, “Porque la paga del pecado es muerte” dice Romanos 6:23, “y el pecado, siendo consumado, da a luz la muerte” dice Santiago 1:15, pero Jesús no pecó; no había pecado en Él. Por tanto la muerte no tenía ningún derecho a Jesús. Jesús no murió como muere un mortal; Él no murió una muerte “natural.” Él entrego su vida por su propia voluntad, para volverla a tomar. El dijo en San Juan 10:17-18: “Yo pongo mi vida, para volverla a tomar. Nadie me la quita, sino que yo de mí mismo la pongo. Tengo poder para ponerla, y tengo poder para volverla a tomar.” Jesús es vida, y es imposible que la muerte retenga la vida. Él dijo en San Juan 11:25: “Yo soy la resurrección y la vida.” Él tomo un cuerpo para poder morir, dar Su vida, y mediante la muerte hacer posible la vida eterna a todos los que creen en Él, San Juan 3:16: “Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna.”

¡Ningún hombre mató a Jesús! ¡Es cierto que los hombres demandaron Su muerte, los hombres lo detuvieron y lo condenaron, y las manos de hombres le clavaron en la Cruz, pero no nos equivoquemos, el hombre no tomo su vida! Jesús era Dios manifestado en la carne, y Dios no puede morir ni puede ser matado.   

Pilato dio el cuerpo exánime de Jesús a Nicodemo y José de Arimathaea. Ellos bajaron el cuerpo de la cruz y lo pusieron en la tumba nueva de José, ¡pero no era posible que la corrupción destruya Su cuerpo, y al tercer día después de Su entierro Jesús salió de la tumba en el mismo cuerpo que Nicodemo y José habían puesto en la tumba! Si Él no hubiera resucitado corporalmente no hubiera ganado la victoria total sobre la muerte.     

Sin Su resurrección corporal Él hubiera ganado solamente una victoria parcial sobre la muerte. Pero, Él si resucito corporalmente, y la Palabra de Dios declara: “Y cuando esto corruptible se haya vestido de incorrupción, y esto mortal se haya vestido de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: Sorbida es la muerte en victoria. ¿Dónde está, oh muerte, tu aguijón? ¿Dónde, oh sepulcro, tu victoria? ya que el aguijón de la muerte es el pecado, y el poder del pecado, la ley. Mas gracias sean dadas a Dios, que nos da la victoria por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo” (I Corintios 15:54-57).

Gracias a Dios que Él no se detuvo antes que ganar victoria total sobre el mundo, la carne, y el diablo, la muerte, el infierno, y la tumba. Tomo un cuerpo que era capaz de morir y en ese cuerpo Él murió y resucito. Su resurrección corporal es la garantía que conquisto todo lo que Él vino a conquistar, y Él ahora retiene las llaves del infernó y de la muerte. “yo soy el primero y el último; y el que vivo, y estuve muerto; mas he aquí que vivo por los siglos de los siglos, amén. Y tengo las llaves de la muerte y del Hades” (Apocalipsis 1:17-18).

Que todos los muertos van a ser resucitados a vida es enseñado en las escrituras, “De cierto, de cierto os digo: Viene la hora, y ahora es, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios; y los que la oyeren vivirán. Porque como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así también ha dado al Hijo el tener vida en sí mismo; y también le dio autoridad de hacer juicio, por cuanto es el Hijo del Hombre. No os maravilléis de esto; porque vendrá hora cuando todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz; y los que hicieron lo bueno, saldrán a resurrección de vida; mas los que hicieron lo malo, a resurrección de condenación.” (Juan 5:25-29). Dos cosas se enseñan en esta escritura. La primera cosa es que todos los que mueren van a ser resucitados a vida. La segunda cosa es que algunos van a ser resucitados a vida eterna mientras otros van a ser resucitados a vergüenza eterna y condenación.

Todos los que han vivido y han muerto van a resucitar de la muerte al fin de la edad. Ellos se levantaran a la vida eterna o a la muerte eterna. Lo que la persona hace con Cristo va determinar cuál de estos dos va ser su fin. “los otros muertos no volvieron a vivir hasta que se cumplieron mil años. Esta es la primera resurrección. Bienaventurado y santo el que tiene parte en la primera resurrección; la segunda muerte no tiene potestad sobre éstos, sino que serán sacerdotes de Dios y de Cristo, y reinarán con él. Y vi un gran trono blanco y al que estaba sentado en él, de delante del cual huyeron la tierra y el cielo, y ningún lugar se encontró para ellos. Y vi a los muertos, grandes y pequeños, de pie ante Dios; y los libros fueron abiertos, y otro libro fue abierto, el cual es el libro de la vida; y fueron juzgados los muertos por las cosas que estaban escritas en los libros, según sus obras. Y el mar entregó los muertos que había en él; y la muerte y el Hades entregaron los muertos que había en ellos; y fueron juzgados cada uno según sus obras. Y la muerte y el Hades fueron lanzados al lago de fuego. Esta es la muerte segunda. Y el que no se halló inscrito en el libro de la vida fue lanzado al lago de fuego” (Apocalipsis 20:56, 11-15).
