ZOMBI APOCALIPSIS

"Pero los otros muertos no volvieron a vivir hasta que se cumplieron los mil años. Ésta es la primera resurrección. Bienaventurado y santo el que tiene parte en la primera resurrección; la segunda muerte no tiene potestad sobre éstos, sino que serán sacerdotes de Dios y de Cristo, y reinarán con él por mil años. Y cuando los mil años se cumplan, Satanás será soltado de su prisión, y saldrá a engañar a las naciones que están en los cuatro extremos de la tierra, a Gog y a Magog, a fin de reunirnos para la batalla; el número de los cuales es como la arena del mar. Y subieron sobre la anchura de la tierra, y rodearon el campamento de los santos y la ciudad amada; y de parte de Dios descendió fuego del cielo, y los consumió." (Apocalipsis 20:5-9)

Como los zombis siguen siendo populares en las películas y la televisión y en la vida real, más personas están volviendo la atención académica al tema con la esperanza de responder por qué la locura continúa.

Mucho antes de la introducción de Jorge Romeros 1968 La noche de los muertos vivientes, había el zombi. La palabra zombi en realidad es una palabra de África Occidental que significa Nzambi, lo que podría sorprender a la gente a saber que este nombre africano es el de un dios de la deidad, Nzambi - el dios de los muertos. Es esta deidad particular, o "dios" que se basa en el culto oculto por el cual Nzambi gobierna tanto a los vivos como a los muertos. Sin embargo, el término zombi va aún más atrás de las tribus de África Occidental, a una realidad más oscura - Satanás. El origen para el zombi se encuentra en una deidad espiritual que tomó la forma de una pitón, es este personaje que influyó en las tribus de África Occidental y Nzambi, y en última instancia es cómo todo este fenómeno comenzó. Es esta práctica oculta que se puede encontrar en las selvas de África, así como en Haití, lo que nos da su verdadero significado.

Las características de los zombis son fáciles de entender, en la terminología moderna el zombi es un humano muerto que ya sea a través de una plaga, virus u otros medios, se vuelve reanimado y comienza su búsqueda para cazar a otros seres humanos vivos. Esta acción involucra al humano muerto (zombi) para cazar, luego come (canibalismo) a su víctima viva, y lo que queda, entonces se infecta, como una mordida o rasguño a la carne de la criatura infectada, la cual entonces "torna" a las persona viva en un "andador".

Aquí está el problema con los zombis, todo el concepto no se trata de entretenimiento que se pierda en un mundo de fantasía, pero se basa en las acciones pasadas del mundo ocultista que se encuentran en lugares remotos de la sociedad. Toda la historia del zombi se remonta a antiguos "dioses" o espíritu que en realidad no son nada más que espíritus demoníacos. Son estos espíritus demoníacos los que indujeron a la gente en los países antiguos a participar en el sacrificio humano, el derramamiento de sangre como un apaciguamiento a su dios. El vudú y otros ritos, incluyendo la brujería, son los fundadores de donde obtuvimos todo el concepto de zombi. Se basa en el ritual oculto y nada más.

Los cristianos deben alejarse de todo este género y dejarlo en paz. Cuando alguien mira algo de esta naturaleza, todo su mensaje es de maldad. Los muertos que cazan a los vivos, es de hecho una forma más sincera de representación demoníaca del enemigo (Satanás) que desea comer y devorar a los que puede. De nuevo, todo vuelve a lo oculto. De la lujuria de sangre de los muertos, al canibalismo, toma sus propias raíces del oscuro mundo demoníaco de lo oculto, donde la gente participaba de esta actividad aunque fuera prohibida por Dios. Es por eso que las representaciones de zombis persiguiendo y devorando a los seres humanos están hechas para ser horripilantes, porque lo son. Todo lo que uno ve en una película de zombis, o en el programa de televisión "The Walking Dead", es un cumplimiento del ocultismo, el espectador está viendo realmente el ritual oculto que se presenta en la pantalla. No creo que los creadores de ese programa, ni Jorge Romero intencionalmente pusieron eso en sus creaciones, creo que fueron influenciados por espíritus demoníacos para asegurarse de que esos espíritus son alabados y venerados cuando la gente ve ese comportamiento que se representa en la pantalla .

Dios hace claras sus opiniones sobre todo esto: "Cuando hayas entrado en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da, no aprenderás a hacer conforme a las abominaciones de esas naciones. No habrá entre vosotros quien haga pasar a su hijo o a su hija por el fuego, ni adivina, ni observador de tiempos, ni hechicero, ni hechicero. O un encantador, o un consultor con espíritus familiares, o un mago, o un nigromante. Porque todas estas cosas son abominables para Jehová; y por causa de estas abominaciones, Jehová tu Dios las echará de delante de ti. "(Deuteronomio 18: 9-12)

No hay lugar para tal entretenimiento en la vida de un creyente. La realidad es que mientras la locura de los zombis atrae a muchos jóvenes en este género de horror, la realidad es más oscura y alarmante cuando examinamos todo con las Escrituras. Los zombis, como los vampiros, como los demonios necrófagos, como los hombres lobo, y otros iconos de horror populares, representan la oscuridad del reino de Satanás y uno que los cristianos no necesitan tener nada que ver con, aunque no parezca inofensivo.

El problema con los zombis es que es demoníaco. Ahora es más claro lo peligroso que puede ser exponiéndose a la influencia demoníaca. No hay límites a la depravación del comportamiento humano cuando alguien está desconectado de cualquier influencia divina. Mientras que la idea de un Zombi Apocalipsis parece inverosímil, una mejor pregunta es examinar su propio estado espiritual. La Biblia dice: "Y vosotros, estando muertos en vuestros pecados, él vivificó juntamente con él, habiendo perdonado todas vuestras ofensas; 14 Apagando la escritura de las ordenanzas contra nosotros, que era contrario a nosotros, y la quitamos del camino, clavándola en su cruz. "(Colosenses 2: 13-14)

¿Cuál es el significado de la "Zombi Apocalipsis" que podemos entender desde el punto de vista de la Biblia? El Juicio Final es un "Zombi Apocalipsis" en la Biblia. Después de los 1000 años, Satanás y todos los condenados son liberados del abismo. Se levantan como los "muertos vivientes". Satanás los reúne a todos, y convergen para atacar a Jerusalén. Es un literal "Zombi Apocalipsis" Apocalipsis 20: 1-2. Aquí vemos a los malditos saliendo del infierno y de sus tumbas a nivel mundial para unirse a Satanás para el "Zombi Apocalipsis ". Salen de sus tumbas para ser recogidos por Satanás para marchar contra Jerusalén (Apocalipsis 20: 5-9).

Los condenados de todas las edades volverán de los muertos, como los muertos vivientes, para marchar con Satanás contra Jerusalén en un "Zombi Apocalipsis" en el Armagedón Final después del reinado de Cristo de 1000 años.

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

"But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them." (Revelation 20:5-9)

As zombies continue to be popular in movies and television and in real life, more people are turning scholarly attention to the subject in the hopes of answering why the craze continues.

Long before the introduction of George Romero’s 1968 The Night Of The Living Dead, there was the zombie. The word zombie actually is a West African word meaning Nzambi, which might surprise people to know that this African name is that of a deity god, Nzambi - the god of the dead. It is this particular deity, or “god” which is based on occult worship whereby Nzambi rules the living as well as the dead. Yet the term zombie goes even further back from the West African tribes, to a more darker reality – Satan. The origin for zombie is found in a spirit deity which took the form of a python, it is this character which influenced the West African tribes and Nzambi, and ultimately is how this whole phenomenon began. It is this occult practice which can be found in the jungles of Africa as well as Haiti, which gives us its true meaning.

The characteristics of zombies are simple to understand, in modern terminology the zombie is a dead human that either through a plague, virus, or other means, becomes reanimated and begins its quest to hunt other living human beings. This action involves the dead human (zombie) to hunt, then eat (cannibalism) its victim alive, and what’s left, then becomes infected, such as a bite or scratch to the flesh from the infected creature, which then “turns” the living person into a “walker”.

Here’s the trouble with zombies, the whole concept is not about entertainment to be lost in a world of fantasy, but it’s based on the past actions of the occult world found in remote places of society. The entire zombie history is traced back to ancient “gods” or spirit which in reality are nothing more than demonic spirits. It is these demonic spirits which induced people in ancient countries to partake in human sacrifice, the spilling of blood as an appeasement to their god. Voodoo and other rites, including witchcraft, are the founders of where we get the whole zombie concept. It’s based on occult ritual and nothing more.

Christians should remove themselves from this whole genre and leave it alone. When someone watches something of this nature, its entire message is one of evil. The dead hunting the living, it is in fact a most sincerest form of demonic representation of the enemy (Satan) who desires to eat and devour those whom he can. Again, it all goes back to the occult. From the dead’s blood lust, to cannibalism, it takes its very roots from the dark demonic world of the occult, where people partook of this activity even though it was forbidden by God. That’s why the depictions of zombies chasing and devouring human beings are made to be gruesome, because it is. Everything one see in a zombie film, or on the tv show "The Walking Dead", is a fulfillment of the occult, the viewer is actually seeing the occult ritual being played out right on screen. I don't think that the creators of that show, nor George Romero purposely placed that into their creations, I believe that they were influenced by demonic spirits to make sure that those spirits are praised and worshiped when people watch such behavior being depicted on screen.

God makes clear His views on all of this: “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.  Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”  (Deuteronomy 18:9-12)

There is no place for such entertainment in the life of a believer. The reality is, that while the zombie craze is enticing many young people in this particular horror genre, the reality is more darker and more alarming when we examine everything with scripture. Zombies, like vampires, like ghouls, like werewolves, and other popular horror icons, represent the darkness of Satan’s kingdom and one which the Christians need not have anything to do with, even if it seems harmless, the spirit behind it is not. 

The trouble with zombies is, it’s demonic. It is now more clear how dangerous opening oneself to demonic influence can be. There are no limits to the depravity of human behavior when someone is disconnected from any Godly influence. While the idea of a Zombie Apocalypse seems farfetched, a better question is examining your own spiritual state. The Bible says: “And you, being dead in your sins..hath he quickened [given life] together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;” (Colossians 2:13-14)

What is the meaning of “The Zombie Apocalypse” that we can understand from the Bible view? Final Judgment is a “Zombie Apocalypse” in the Bible.  After the 1000 years, Satan and all the damned are let out of the abyss.  They rise as the “living dead”.  Satan gathers them all, and they converge to attack Jerusalem.  It’s a literal “Zombie Apocalypse” Revelation 20:1-2. Here we see the damned emerging from hell and from their graves globally to join Satan for the “Zombie Apocalypse”. They come out of their graves to be gathered by Satan to march against Jerusalem (Rev. 20:5 -9).

The damned of all ages will come back from the dead, as the living dead, to march with Satan against Jerusalem in a “Zombie Apocalypse” in the Final Armageddon after the 1000 year reign of Christ.

OLVIDANDO LO QUE QUEDA ATRÁS

“Hermanos, yo mismo no pretendo haberlo ya alcanzado; pero una cosa hago: olvidando ciertamente lo que queda atrás, y extendiéndome a lo que está delante, prosigo a la meta, al premio del supremo llamamiento de Dios en Cristo Jesús.” (Filipenses 3:13-14)

El mes de enero recibe su nombre del dios romano, Janus el dios de los comienzos. Se le simbolizaba como un hombre con dos caras, una mirando atrás, y la otra adelante.

En este día hay unos que tienen problemas acerca de mirar adelante, porque siguen mirando atrás, viviendo en los errores del pasado. Su perspectiva del futuro esta entenebrecida, y su entusiasmo, paralizado. Pero de nada vale lamentar lo irrecuperable. La historia se irá repitiendo  si nos mantenemos deprimidos por fracasos de este año, o continuamos quejándonos de las injusticias sufridas durante los últimos doce meses. No se gana nada lamentándose el pasado.

En este Nuevo Año, corrige lo que necesita corrección y luego, “Olvidando ciertamente lo que queda atrás”, prosiga a la meta con la esperanza y confianza en Dios.

No tengamos dos caras, como el dios romano de los comienzos. Más bien, con la mirada al frente, lancémonos adelante al 2017 con esperanza y gozo.   

FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14)

The month of January receives its name from the roman god Janus, the god of beginnings. He was symbolized as a man with two faces, one looking behind, and the other one looking ahead.

There are some today that have a problem with looking ahead, because they keep looking behind, living in the errors of the past. Their perspective of the future is clouded, and their enthusiasm is paralyzed. But it is of no value to grieve over that which is irrecoverable. The story will repeat itself if we remain depressed by the defeats of this year, or if we keep on complaining about the injustices suffered during the last twelve months. Nothing is gained by complaining about the past.

In this New Year, let us correct that which needs correction and then, “Forgetting those things which are behind”, and press on toward the goal with hope and confidence in God.

Let's not have two faces, as the roman god of beginnings. Rather, with our sights set on 2017, let us move forward with hope and joy.

RETENIENDO LOS HUESOS DEL PASADO

“…Yo mismo no pretendo haberlo ya alcanzado; pero una cosa hago: olvidando ciertamente lo que queda atrás, y extendiéndome a lo que está delante, prosigo a la meta…” (Filipenses 3:13-14)

Durante la guerra en Vietnam una mujer joven vietnamita fue matada. Ella dejó a su esposo y un hijo pequeño de dos años. Él esposo en muchas ocasiones tenía que viajar lejos para encontrar trabajo para proveer para él y su hijo. Cuando el salía en estos viajes dejaba a su hijo con su vecinos. Toco que después de un viaje largo, el hombre volvió a su pueblo y lo encontró destruido y vacío. Histéricamente comenzó  a buscar entre los escombros donde estaba la casa de su vecino y se encontró unos huesos de un niño. Él estaba seguro que éstos eran los restos de su hijo. Él tomó los huesos pequeños en sus manos y se los puso contra su pecho y comenzó a llorar amargamente. Después de un tiempo envolvió  los huesos en su camisa y se los llevó con él, y en donde quiera que él iba llevaba con él los huesos de su hijo.

Muchos años pasaron, y una noche el hombre oyó que alguien tocaba su puerta. ¿Él llamó, "Quién está allí?" “¡Soy yo tu hijo!" la voz fuera contestada. “¡Mis secuestradores me soltaron, y he pasado estos años tratando de encontrarte!" El hombre se quedó atónito y gritó, "Usted es un mentiroso y una persona cruel. Tomó los huesos y llorando se los puso a su pecho y contestó mi hijo está muerto. ¡Déjame en paz!" Él hombre no abría la puerta. Su hijo llorando siguió tocando la puerta y rogándole a su padre que le abriera la puerta pero nunca le abrió la puerta. Después de un tiempo, viendo que no le iba abrir la puerta el joven se fue llorando. Este hombre nunca encontró la felicidad y perdió su hijo que todavía vivía. ¿Por qué? Porque él estaba determinado retener los huesos del pasado.

Estamos en el principio de un Año Nuevo. Este es una gran oportunidad de dejar ir los huesos del pasado. Alguien una vez dijo que Dios nos creó con los ojos en frente de nuestras cabezas para que cuando tratamos de mirar hacia atrás se nos entiese el cuello. Las posibilidades del futuro nos llama que miremos hacia adelante. Las buenas noticias para nosotros al principio de este Año Nuevo son que Dios nos ha puesto en libertad, libre de los huesos del pasado. Somos librados cuando realizamos que no somos atrapados por lo que nos pasó  en el pasado.

Algunos se estancan porque se recuerdan y vuelven a revivir memorias viejas y dolorosas. Se estancan y se paralizan por huesos viejos. La vida hace lo que se supone hacer, y luego seguimos nuestra marcha. Para algunos, el año pasado fue un año malo. A pesar de lo que nos paso el año pasado, el principio de un año nuevo es un tiempo para liberarnos del pasado y comenzar de nuevo. Un nuevo principio es posible.

Resuelva a olvidar sus fracasos. Para algunos sus fracasos son memorias dolorosas. Tal vez es una memoria de cómo usted falló en una relación. Tal vez usted hizo unas decisiones malas, o dijo e hizo unas cosas incorrectas. Lo que está diciendo la Palabra de Dios es que no debemos permitir que los fracasos del pasado nos paralicen y que estos nos detengan de avanzar. Es tiempo de decir “voy a olvidar mi pasado. Voy a dejar de torturarme sobre lo que hice o lo que no hice”. Es tiempo de dejar de ser encadenado a mis fracasos pasados. Dios no quiere que usted viva su vida como un fracasado.

En este Año Nuevo cométase a dejar sus rencores. ¿Qué es un rencor? Un rencor es un resentimiento profundo que cultivamos en nuestro corazón contra alguien. Un rencor es un espíritu que no perdona y conduce a actitudes y acciones semejantes. Abrigar un rencor es guardar un disgusto contra alguien. Los rencores son peligrosos porque ellos son destructivos. Los rencores pueden destruir matrimonios, familias, arruinan amistades y pueden dividir iglesias.

Si en este día usted guarda un rencor contra alguien, Dios le está diciendo en este momento que lo dejes ir. Los rencores no solo son destructivos, también son autodestructivos. Cuando usted guarda un rencor contra alguien usted se está haciendo más daño a usted mismo que a la persona quien usted guarda es rencor. Si usted sigue abrigando un rencor esto con el tiempo lo destruirá, si no físicamente, seguramente emocionalmente y espiritualmente. Le hará una persona amargada y enojada. Librarse, de su rencor, “y perdonándoos  unos a otros si alguno tuviere queja contra otro. De la manera que Cristo os perdono, así también hacedlo vosotros” (Colosenses 3:13). Según la Palabra de Dios el modo de dejar un rencor es perdonar el agravio.

Dios no le está pidiendo que se olvide lo que se le hizo. Pretender como si nada paso. Lo que Dios le está pidiendo  es que perdones el agravio. Lo que esto implica es reconocer que lo que se hizo fue incorrecto y doloroso, pero que usted ha decidido perdonar a aquella persona que le hizo el mal. Estoy seguro que hay personas, que están leyendo esto, que tiene que dejar sus rencores y perdonar el agravio que ellos tienen contra alguien. Dios le dice hoy que ese resentimiento que está profundamente arraigado en usted tiene que dejarlo. ¿Qué mejor tiempo para tomar esa decisión difícil para perdonar que el principio de este año nuevo? Ahora no digas, "Pero, es que tu no entiendes". Lo cierto es que usted no quiere perdonar.

Resuelva a restaurar sus relaciones. Cada vez que enciendo mi computadora corre un programa que revisa todos mis programas para ver si están todas trabajando correctamente. Dios en Su Palabra nos pide que hagamos algo similar en nuestras vidas, que cada vez en cuando hagamos un chequeo de nuestras relaciones personales para ver si están trabajando correctamente. Escuche a lo que la Palabra de Dios dice “Si es posible, en cuanto dependa de vosotros, estad en paz con todos los hombres” (Romanos 12:18). La frase importante aquí es, “en cuanto dependa de vosotros.” Dios nos está diciendo que debemos hacer todo lo que podemos para restaurar nuestras relaciones rotas.

Algunas de nuestras relaciones podrían haberse rotado debido a lo que otros han hecho y ellos tal vez no quieren restaurar aquella relación. Dios reconoce esto. Por eso, Él comienza diciendo “Si es posible” Pero algunas de nuestras relaciones se han rotado debido a lo que nosotros hemos hecho. Una de las cosas que usted puede hacer en este Año Nuevo es admitir sus errores pasados y humildemente buscar el perdón de aquellos que usted ha lastimado. Has un compromiso de restaurar sus relaciones rotas en este Año Nuevo.

Cométase dar la espalda a sus transgresiones. Después que se había terminado la Guerra Civil y los esclavos habían sido librados muchos de ellos decidieron quedarse con su amos y seguir haciendo lo que les dijeran. Ellos fueron librados pero decidieron vivir como esclavos. Esto es exactamente como algunos cristianos han decidido vivir. Cristo nos ha hecho libre, pero como aquellos esclavos unos todavía deciden obedecer su viejo amo, el pecado. Escuche estas palabras de Romanos 6:16: “¿No sabéis que si os sometéis a alguien como esclavos para obedecerle, sois esclavos de aquel a quien obedecéis?”

Algunas personas tienen pecados particulares que siguen cometiendo. Cuando fuimos salvados dejamos de pecar, pero hay otras cosas que sabemos que son pecado que todavía practicamos. Tal vez así es como usted vivió durante el año pasado, constantemente derrotado por el mismo pecado. ¿Está estancada su vida espiritual porque usted ha aprendido a vivir con cierto pecado en su vida? La Palabra de Dios lo reta a que des la espalda a aquel pecado. Ya basta que ese pecado controle su vida. Usted no tiene que vivir este Año Nuevo siendo derrotado por el mismo pecado viejo. Usted puede tener la victoria sobre ello en este Año Nuevo.

Será el año 2017 solamente un año más para usted, o va hacer estos cambios y hacerlo un año que cambia su vida; “todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece” (Filipenses 4:13).

HOLDING ON TO THE BONES OF THE PAST

During the war in Vietnam a young Vietnamese woman was killed leaving behind her husband and her baby. The husband traveled far and wide looking for work because he needed to provide for himself and his child. Often he would leave the small child with neighbors. After one long trip, the man returned to find his village demolished and deserted. He began frantically to searching through the rubble where his neighbors house had been and found scattered about some small bones. He was sure that these were the remains of his son. He took the small bones in his hands and held them to his body and began to cry bitterly. After a while he wrapped the bones in his shirt and carried them with him everywhere he went.

Many years passed and one night as the man sat in his house he heard knocking on his door. He called out, “Who’s there?” “It is I your son!” the voice outside replied. “My kidnappers set me free and I have spent all these years trying to find you!” Trembling the man yelled back, “You are an impostor and a cruel person. Holding the small bones to his body as he began to weep he replied, my son is dead. Leave me alone, go away!” His son continued pounding on the door, but the man would not open the door.  After a while he stopped pounding on the door and left crying. The man never found happiness and he lost his son who was still alive. Why, because he was determined to hold on to the bones of the past.

We are at the begin of a New Year. This is a great opportunity for letting go of the bones of the past. Someone once said that God created us with eyes in the front of our heads so that when we tried to look back we would get a stiff neck. The possibilities of the future call us to look forward. The good news for us as the beginning of this New Year is that God has set us free, free from the bones of the past.

Some people are stagnate because they remember and relive old and painful memoirs. They are stagnate and paralyzed by old bones. Life does what it's supposes to doing, and then we continue on. For some, last year was a bad year. In spite of what happened to us last year, the beginning of a new year is a time to liberate ourselves of the past and begin anew. A new beginning is possible. 

Resolve to forget your defeats. For some their defeats are painful memoirs. Perhaps it is a memory of how you failed in a relationship. Perhaps you made a few bad decisions, or said and did a few incorrect things. What the Word of God is saying is that we must not allow the defeats of the past to paralyze us and stop us from advancing. It is a time to say “I am going to forget my past. I must be going stop torturing myself over what I did or what I didn’t do”. It is a time to stop being chained to my past defeats. God does not want that you live your life as a failure.

In this New Year commit yourself to leaving your grudges. What is a grudge? A grudge is a deep resentment that we cultivate in our heart against someone. A grudge is a spirit that will not forgive and leads to similar actions and attitudes. To harbor a grudge is to have a feeling of resentment against someone. Grudges are dangerous because they are destructive. Grudges can destroy marriages, families, ruin friendships and can divide churches.  

If today you hold a grudge against someone, God is telling you to let it go. Grudges are not only destructive, they are also self-destructive. When you keep a grudge against someone you are hurt yourself more than the person who you have the grudge against. If you keep on harboring a grudge, with time it will destroy you, if not physically, surely emotionally and spiritually. It will make you a bitter and angry person. Free yourself from your grudge, “forgiving on another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye” (Colossians 3:13). According to the Word of God the way of getting over a grudge is to forgive the offence.

God is not asking you to forget what was done to you. To pretend as nothing happened. What God is asking of you is to forgive the offence. What this implies is to admit that what was done was wrong and painful, but that you have decided to forgive the person who wronged you. I am sure that there is someone, who is reading this, who has to leave their grudges and forgive the offence that they have against someone. God is says to you today that this resentment that is deeply rooted in you has to go. What better time to make this difficult decision to forgive then the beginning of this New Year? Now don't say, "But, it is that you don't understand". The truth is that you don't want to forgive.

Resolve to restore your relationships. Whenever I start up my computer it runs a program that checks all my programs to see if they are all working correctly. God in His Word asks us to do something similar in our lives, that every now and then we should do a checkup of our personal relationships to see if they are working correctly. Listen to what the Word of God says: “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:18). God is telling us that we must do everything that we can to restore our broken relationships.

Some of our relations might have been broken due to what others have done and they perhaps do not want to restore that relationship. God recognizes this. That's why; He starts by saying “If it is possible”. But some of our relationships have been broken due to what we have done. One of the things that you can do in this New Year is to admit your past errors and humbly seek the forgiveness of those that you have hurt. Make a commitment to restore your broken relationships in this New Year.

Make a commitment to turn your back on all your transgressions. After the Civil war was over and the slaves had been freed many of them decided to remain with their old masters and keep on doing what they told them. They were freed but they decided to continue living as slaves. This is exactly how some people have decided to live. Christ has made us free, but as those slaves some still decide to obey their old master, sin. Listen to these words in Romans 6:16: “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey…”

Some people have some particular sins that they keep on committing. When we were saved we stop sinning, but there are other things that we know that are a sin that we still practice. Perhaps, this was the way you lived last year, constantly defeated by the same sin. Is your spiritual life stagnate because you have learned to live with a certain sin in your life? The Word of God challenges you to turn your back on that sin. It's time that this sin stops controlling your life. You don't have to live through this New Year being defeated by the same old sin. You can have the victory over it in this New Year.

Will this New Year be just another year for you, or will you make these changes and make it a year that changes your life. The Word of God tells us; "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4 13).
