THE THREE END TIME BATTLES

Matthew 24:1-8

The Bible has a lot to say about the end times. Nearly every book of the Bible contains prophecy regarding the end times. The question is when will all of this happen?

There is much turmoil in Israel today. Israel is persecuted, surrounded by enemies. Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, etc. But this hatred and persecution of Israel is only a hint of what will happen in the end times (Matthew 24:15-21). The latest round of persecution began when Israel was reconstituted as a nation in 1948. The six-day Arab-Israeli war in 1967 was the "beginning of the end." 

The battle that is mention in Psalms 83 is one of the things that will happen before the end times so when this happens we will know something prophetic is happening. Then we will see some major changes as the end time events unfold. If this is true, and we are the last generation many of us who are here will be present when Jesus comes to take his church. 

THE BATTLE OF EXTERMINATION: PSALM 83

This psalm states that the immediate neighbors of Israel will launch a war for the purpose of “wiping out Israel as a nation” (verse 4). The nations described as being a part of this effort are those with a common border with Israel today (verses 6-8). The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, that’s southern Jordan and Arabia. Moab and the Hagrites, that’s central and north Jordan. Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, that’s Lebanon and Syria and the Sinai Peninsula. Philistia, that’s the Gaza Strip. The inhabitants of Tyre, that’s more of Lebanon. Assyria (Syria), Lebanon, and Iraq.

We know from other scriptures that Israel will be victorious (Zechariah 12:6). Also, in Amos 9:15 we are told that once the Jews are re-established in their land, “they will not again be rooted out from their land.”

This battle will result in victory for Israel, resulting in great territorial expansion and enhanced national resources. It will also produce the security spoken of in Ezekiel 38:11.

The Gog and Magog battle in Revelation 20 occurs at the end of the Millennium. However, Ezekiel 38 does not occur during the Millennium, it is reserved for the final moments of the Tribulation.

Ezekiel 38:8 tells us, these Scriptures pertain to the “latter years,” while Ezekiel 38:16 states, they are for the “latter days.” The Last Days that we find ourselves in. We can become confident the events of Ezekiel 38 belong to the closing moments of the Great Tribulation. In Ezekiel 38:13-14, God explains Gog is concerned with “cattle,” “goods,” “silver,” and “gold.” Yet, those are not objects people will be concerned about during the Millennium. Instead, those are desires and treasures men focus on today.

THE FIRST BATTLE OF GOG & MAGOG: EZEKIEL 38 AND 39

The next great end time battle will be the Battle of Gog & Magog that is described in Ezekiel 38 and 39. This battle will start when Russia invades Israel with certain specified allies, all of whom are Muslim nations today.

This battle will occur 3 1/2 years prior to the Tribulation. One of his most important reasons for this conclusion is that Ezekiel 39:9 says the Jews will spend seven years burning the weapons captured in the battle, and the book of Revelation says they will be run out of the land in the middle of the Tribulation (Revelation 12:13-17). Since the middle of the Tribulation will occur 3 1/2 years into that seven year period that means the only way the Jews could spend seven years burning the weapons is for the battle to start at least 3 1/2 years before the Tribulation begins. The “burning of weapons” could refer to captured nuclear fuel.

Does this mean the battles of Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38 and 39 must occur before the Rapture? The Rapture could occur anytime before, during, or after these wars. Keep in mind that the Rapture is not what marks the beginning of the Tribulation. The Tribulation will begin when the Antichrist signs a security treaty with Israel (Daniel 9:27). There could be a period of several years between the Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation.

The Ezekiel war pictures Russia coming against the nation of Israel with certain specified allies. In Revelation 20 Russia is portrayed as leading all the nations of the world against Jesus Christ.

The timing of the Gog-Magog Battle after the Rapture of the Church but just before or at the very onset of the Tribulation best fulfills these prerequisites and makes the most logical sense in the prophetic timeline:

1. The Rapture of the Church removes the Restrainer.

2. Israel defeats her surrounding neighbors in fulfillment of Psalm 83.

3. The first Gog-Magog battle destroys the Russian and Muslim influence in the Middle East, makes the world aware of God’s presence, and restores Israel’s belief in the God of the Torah.

4. The Antichrist makes a peace covenant with Israel which starts the seven-year Tribulation, then conquers what is left of the Middle East, and birth’s his Revived Roman Empire (Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Turkey, North Africa and other European Nations).

5. Israel spends the seven years of the Tribulation burning the weapons.

6. Jesus returns at the end of the seven years to defeat His enemies at Armageddon resulting in Israel acknowledging that Jesus is God’s Son.

7. Jesus gathers the people from all over the world (all nations) for the Judgment, which results in only believers entering the Millennial Kingdom.

8. At the very end of the Millennial Kingdom, a final battle, the second battle of Gog-Magog.

THE SPIRITFILLED LIFE

Ephesians 5:18

At conversion you receive the justified life. You are made righteous. This is followed by a consecrated life when we acknowledge the Lord's ownership of our lives (I Cor. 6:19-20). At the altar of consecration we yield our lives and our will to God (Matt. 26:39). This is followed by the emptied life when we cast aside evil and selfishness. But you cannot live in a vacuum. Your life must be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is a very strong New Testament command.

At conversion you are complete in Christ but generally you do not enter into the fullness of his spiritual inheritance until sometime later. As you yield the control of your life He will fill us more and more of His Spirit (Luke 11:13). We are taught here to pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost speaks of the indwelling of Christ while Luke, pleads for the filling and fullness of the Holy Spirit. Is this a crisis experience separate from conversion? It need not be, but in many cases it is a harder struggle to surrender our will than our sins.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AND YOU:

The disciples were to tarry in Jerusalem waiting for Pentecost (Luke 24:49. Acts 2:4) was the fulfillment of this promise when the Spirit came to abide. When you are baptized in the Holy Ghost, you have the Spirit, but the Spirit does not control you. You still have your own will. You may pray or not, give or not, witness or not, surrender or not. You may obey or resist and grieve the Spirit.

The crowning act of faith is when you abdicate your will to the Spirit. Then and only then can you be Spirit-filled. The infilling is received when you consciously recognize the Holy Spirit as being in full control of your life, completely governing every detail of life.

BEING FILLED IS A COMMAND TO BE OBEYED:

Is this experience a luxury for a few people? No! It ought to be the experience of every believer. Ephesians 5:18 is not an optional command. The picture presented in this verse is a contrast between a man under the influence, completely directed by another power, either wine (earthly) or the spirit (heavenly). The Greek language is in the imperative progressive, keep on being filled. Let the filling be constant and continuous in your life. Each day needs its own new fullness.

EVERYONE NEEDS THE FILLING OF THE SPIRIT:

Every believer needs the filling of the Holy Spirit. We need it for our own benefit in order to be the best possible Christian for Christ. Without it you cannot attain to the Lord's will for you regarding character and service.

The Holy Ghost cannot illuminate our mind, warm our affections purge our conscience or energize our will until we surrender to Him and keep surrendered.

THE CHURCH NEEDS EVERY MEMBER TO BE SPIRIT-FILLED:

Sometimes unwise, extravagant and fanatical things are done in the name of the filling of the Holy Ghost. Because of this some shun the filling. The church needs Spirit-filled members. If the filling is lacking, the church is plagued with disorders, dissensions, strife, backbiting, jealousy and scandal.

THE WORLD EXPECTS US TO BE SPIRIT-FILLED:

Our Christian walk is twofold: (1) God ward and (2) outward to our fellowmen. The world expects us to be almost perfect. To live up to the world's imaginary standard every believer desperately needs the Spirit's filling.

You cannot be an effective witness if you are not Spirit-filled. To do the work of the Lord in the energy of the flesh can only lead to disappointment and failure. Spirit-filled believers, living the crucified life in relation to the world, are an effective means in the Lord's hands to convict and convince sinners.

CONDITIONS OF FILLING BY THE HOLY SPIRIT:

A. Desire: John 7:37-39; Isa. 44:3

B. Faith: John 7:39; Gal. 3:13-14

C. Obedience: Acts 5:32

D. Waiting: Luke 24:49, be unhurried.

E. Prayer: Luke 11:13; Acts 4:31

The secret of being filled with the Holy Ghost is surrender, surrendering our will, body, possessions and every aspect of our lives to His control.

RESULTS OF BEING SPIRIT-FILLED:

A. Power to witness: Acts 1:8

B. Power to live victorious: Acts 20:22-24

C. Glory to the Lord: John 16:14

The infilling of the Spirit is the indispensable qualification for all holy living. The Holy Spirit quickens the intellect, affections, conscience, will and personality.

We are not reservoirs but channels. We must overflow. Blessings must pour out. Conversion first then filling and overflowing! Remember the filling is not a once-for all experience. It must be repeated daily.

 

 

 

 

 

UNA VIDA LLENA DEL ESPIRITU

Efesios 5:18

En la conversión recibimos la vida justificada. Somos hecho justo. Esto es seguido por una vida consagrada cuando nosotros reconocemos el Dominio del Señor de nuestras vidas (I Cor. 6:19-20). En el altar de consagración nosotros rendimos nuestra vida y nuestra voluntad a Dios (Mat. 26:39). Esta es seguida por la vida vaciada, cuando nosotros hacemos a un lado la maldad y el egoísmo. Pero no podemos vivir en un vació. Nuestra vida debe llenarse del Espíritu Santo. Este es un mandamiento fuerte del Nuevo Testamento.

En la conversión somos completos en Cristo pero generalmente no entramos en la plenitud de la herencia espiritual hasta después de un tiempo. En cuanto rindamos el control de nuestra vida, El nos llenara  mas y mas de Su Espíritu (Lucas 11:13). Aquí, somos enseñados a orar para ser llenos del Espíritu Santo. El Pentecostés nos habla de la morada interior de Cristo mientras Lucas, ora por la plenitud y que seamos llenos del Espíritu Santo. ¿Es esta una experiencia de crisis por separado de la conversión? No necesita ser, pero en muchos casos es una pugna más dura de rendir nuestra voluntad que nuestros pecados.

EL ESPIRITU SANTO Y USTED:

Los discípulos tenían que permanecer en Jerusalén esperando el Pentecostés (Lucas 24:49). Hechos 2:4 fue el cumplimiento de esta promesa cuando el Espíritu vino a morar. Cuando usted es bautizado en el  Espíritu Santo, usted tiene el Espíritu, pero el Espíritu no lo controla a usted. Usted todavía tiene su propia voluntad. Usted puede orar o no, dar o no, testificar o no, rendirse o no. Usted puede obedecer o resistir y contristar al Espíritu.

El acto culminante de fe es cuando usted abdica su voluntad al Espíritu. Entonces podrá usted ser lleno del Espíritu. La plenitud se recibe cuando usted conscientemente reconoce el Espíritu Santo como siendo en control total de su vida, completamente gobernando cada detalle de vida.

SER LLENOS ES UN MANDAMIENTO QUE SE DEBE OBEDECER:

¿Es esta experiencia un lujo solo para una poca gente? ¡No! Debe ser la experiencia de cada creyente. Efesios 5:18 no es un comando optativo. El cuadro presentado en este verso es un contraste entre un hombre debajo la influencia, completamente dirigido por otro poder, vino (terrestre) o el Espíritu (celestial). En la lengua Griega está en el imperativo progresiva, siga siendo lleno. Deje que el relleno sea constante y continuo en su vida. Cada día necesitamos la plenitud del Espíritu.

TODOS NECESITAN SER LLENOS DEL ESPIRITU:

Cada creyente necesita el relleno del Espíritu Santo. Cada uno lo necesitamos para nuestro propio beneficio a fin de ser el mejor cristiano posible para Cristo. Sin el Espíritu Santo usted no puede lograr la voluntad de Dios para usted con respecto al carácter y servicio.

El Espíritu Santo nos puede iluminar nuestra mente, calentar nuestros afectos, purgar nuestra conciencia o energizar nuestra voluntad hasta que nosotros nos rendimos a Dios y nos mantengamos rendidos.

LA IGLESIA NECESITA QUE CADA MIEMBRO SEA LLENOS DEL ESPIRITU:

A veces cosas imprudentes, extravagantes y fanáticas son hechos en el nombre de la virtud del Espíritu Santo. Por eso algunos evitan ser llenos. La iglesia necesita miembros llenos del Espíritu. Si carece la virtud, la iglesia es plagada con desordenes, desacuerdos, disensión, murmuración, celos y escándalo.      

EL MUNDO ESPERA QUE SEAMOS LLENOS DEL ESPIRITU:

Nuestra caminata Cristiana es doble: (1) hacia Dios y (2) hacia a nuestro compañeros. El mundo espera que nosotros seamos casi perfectos. Para vivir de hasta la norma imaginaria del mundo cada creyente desesperadamente necesita ser lleno  del Espíritu.

Usted no puede ser un testigo efectivo si su vida no está llena del Espíritu. Al hacer el trabajo del Señor en la energía de la carne conducirá a desilusión y fracaso. Creyentes llenos del Espíritu viviendo la vida crucificada en relación al mundo, son unos medios efectivos en las manos del Señor para convertir y convencer a los pecadores.

LAS CONDICIONES PARA SER LLENOS POR EL ESPIRITU SANTO:

A. El deseo: Juan 7:37-39; Isaías 44:3

B. La fe: Juan 7:39; Galatas 3:13-14

C. Obediencia: Hechos 5:32

D. Esperar: Lucas 24:49;

E. La oración: Lucas 11:13; Hechos 4:31

El secreto de ser llenos del Espíritu Santo es rendirse, rindiendo nuestra voluntad, cuerpo, posesiones y cada aspecto de nuestras vidas a Su control.

LOS RESULTADOS DE SER LLENOS DEL ESPIRITU:

A. Poder para testificar: Hechos 1:8

B. El poder para vivir victorioso: Hechos 20:22-24

C. Gloria para el Señor: Juan 16:14

El ser llenos del Espíritu es el requisito indispensable para vivir en santidad. El Espíritu Santo vivifica el intelecto, las afecciones, la conciencia y la personalidad.             

Nosotros no somos depósitos pero canales. Nosotros debemos desbordar. Bendiciones deben fluiré hacia fuera. La conversión primera, entonces ser llenos y después desbordando. Recuerde el ser llenos no es una experiencia solo una vez para siempre. Debe repetirse diario.

 

EL NACIMIENTO DEL ESPÍRITU SANTO

 Juan 3: 1-7

Hay algunas personas que usan Efesios 1:3, para enseñar qué cuando uno cree en Dios, automáticamente recibe el Espíritu Santo. Estos enseñan qué uno no tiene que pedir o ser sellado del Espíritu Santo y qué no tiene que hablar en lenguas.

Cuando recibimos el Espíritu Santo, el viene a vivir en nosotros en su plenitud, esto es la llenura. Efesios 5:18 nos enseña claramente que debemos ser llenos del Espíritu Santo, no es una sugerencia es una orden, todo el que nace de nuevo debe ser lleno del Espíritu.

La comparación entre el vino y el Espíritu Santo es genial. Porque así como el vino al controlar nuestras vidas nos daña nos destruye, el Espíritu Santo al controlar nuestras vidas nos va transformando más y más a la imagen de Cristo.

Lo qué estas personas no distinguen es el hecho qué la Biblia enseña qué hay dos fases en la obra del Espíritu en el creyente.

1. El engendramiento: Ser engendrado del Espíritu (Juan 1:12-13, I Pedro 1:23, Santiago 1:18).

2. El nacimiento: Ser nacido del Espíritu o ser sellado (Juan 3:5; Hechos 2:38).

EL ENGENDRAMIENTO (Juan 1:12-13)

A. Cuando una persona oye la Palabra de Dios y cree, en ese momento Dios engendra en el por Su Palabra, “la fe es por el oír” (Romanos 10:17).

B. El engendramiento es necesario antes qué haya un nacimiento.

C. El padre tiene qué primero depositar su simiente en la madre para qué se une con el fruto de ella para que haya un nacimiento. Cuando ya se haya engendrado, el babe empieza a tomar la semejanza y los características del qué lo engendro.

D. ¿Qué es la simiente de Dios?

    1. Dios engendro en nosotros por Su Palabra (I Pedro 1:23).

2. No todos que oyen la Palabra de Dios son engendrados. La razón es porque ellos no le añaden lo que produce el engendramiento, qué es “creer” o “fe” (Hebreos 3:15).

E. ¿Si uno ha sido engendrado por la Palabra y tiene “fe”, estará allí la obra del Espíritu?

1. ¡Sí! Porqué la Palabra es espíritu.

2. ¿Puede el Espíritu engendrar? ¡Sí! Esto es lo que aconteció en la virgen María (Lucas 1:35).

F. Cuando una persona ha credo y ha aceptado la Palabra de Dios en su corazón, no negamos qué el Espíritu Santo ha hecho una obra en el.

    1. Sí es un hijo de Dios, pero en perspectiva.

2. No es nada raro de qué si alguno haya engendrado a un niño qué ese niño, dentro de la vientre de su madre empieza a tomar las características del qué lo engendro.

3. Si Dios lo engendro toma las características de Dios, pero esto no quiere decir qué ha nacido del Espíritu (ha sido sellado).

EL  NACIMIENTO: (Juan 3:2-5)

A. Si uno no nace, no puede ver el reino. Si un niño no nace, ¿cómo puede ver lo que hay afuera del vientre?

B. ¡Un niño no puede quedarse engendrado, tiene que nacer!

C. Si un niño no nace, va a morir, tiene qué ser forzado a nacer por el médico.

1. ¡Tiene uno qué recibir el Espíritu Santo!

2. Tenemos qué forzar aquellos los qué no han recibido el Espíritu Santo, a qué lo reciban. Tenemos qué orar con ellos y forzarlos.

D. ¡El propósito de Dios no es solamente engendrar hijos, pero qué nazcan!

¿QUÉ SON LOS PRINCIPIOS ASOCIADO CON EL NACIMIENTO NATURAL?

A. La Ley Universal De Dios:

    Todo el mundo sin considerar su raza, color, o su nacionalidad nacen de la misma manera.

B. La Concepción:

    Una vida empieza que nunca existía antes. La concepción no es el nacimiento. El nacimiento viene más después. No se olvide el feto (el niño no nacido) puede morir antes o durante el proceso del nacimiento.

C. El Crecimiento En La Matriz:

    El embrión alcanza un cierto tamaño donde su movimiento se restringe. No está libre. El niño nonato está atado en el ambiente que está. Quiere salir, así que comienza a patear y punzar. Cuando el deseo por libertad es bastante intenso, el parto empieza.

D. El Parto:

¿Qué es el medio que lleva al niño nonato del mundo de cautiverio al mundo de libertad? Son los músculos del útero, la sangre, y el agua de la bolsa.

E. El Nacimiento:

Después qué el niño ha salido del mundo viejo al nuevo, hay una señal  dado a todos los que son testigos del evento que el niño no se murió en el proceso de nacimiento. Cuan el hálito de vida entra y llena los pulmones del niño, “un llanto sale de la boca del niño.”

¿QUÉ SON LOS PRINCIPIOS ASOCIADO CON EL NACIMIENTO ESPIRITUAL?

A. La Ley Universal De Dios:

Todos son concebidos y nacido en el reino de Dios de la misma manera. La única diferencia sería el tiempo que se toma, para algunos es un tiempo muy corto, para otros es un tiempo largo, y aún para muchos se morirán antes del nacimiento.

B. La Concepción:

“Siendo renacidos, no de simiente corruptible, sino de incorruptible, por la palabra de dios” (I Pedro 1:23).  La palabra nacido en esta escritura no es la misma palabra griega que Jesús usó en su discurso con Nicodemo. Esta palabra es [anagennao] que se debe traducir renacer como en I Pedro 1:3. ¿Como dijo el Apóstol Pedro que somos engendrados o concebidos? Es por la simiente incorruptible, por la palabra de Dios. El Apóstol Santiago lo dijo de esta manera, “El, de su voluntad, nos hizo nacer (engendro) por la palabra de verdad” (Santiago. 1:18).

Jesús explicó el principio de concepción totalmente en la parábola del sembrador (Mateo. 13:1-23). Enseño que el sembrador era el predicador. La semilla era el evangelio. La tierra era el corazón del hombre. La “semilla” tiene vida en si para generar o dar fruta cuando se cae en la tierra. No enseña la Biblia que “Muchos son los llamados, y pocos escogidos” (Mateo. 22:14).

    Podemos concluir sin riesgo a base de la evidencia de estas escrituras, que una persona no nace de nuevo cuando cree en su corazón el Evangelio, está sólo en la etapa de concepción del Nuevo Nacimiento.

C. El Crecimiento En La Matriz:

Después que el hombre entra en la concepción, se arrepentirá de sus pecados, y llega a tener hambre por Dios. Empezará a buscar a Dios regularmente mediante la oración, lectura de la Biblia y estudiando. Después de un período de tiempo, el creyente descubre que su naturaleza vieja es demasiado fuerte para él. No está libre en su caminata con Dios. El reconoce que algo falta en su relación con Dios. Necesita ser bautizado y recibir el Espíritu Santo.

D. El Parto:

Cuando el creyente se cansa de dejar que el pecado reina en su vida, el parto empezara. ¿Qué es el medio que saca al creyente del cautiverio de pecado? ¡Es la Palabra de Dios, la Sangre de Jesús y el Bautismo en Agua!

E. El Nacimiento:

Hay una señal dado a todos que da testimonio del nacimiento, ya sea antes de o después que el niño nonato es librado del mundo de cautiverio a la libertad. Cuando el Espíritu Santo entra, producirá un sonido de la boca del niño. El niño empezará a hablar en un idioma que nunca había conocido antes según el Espíritu le da la expresión o palabras para hablar. Ésta es la evidencia bíblica inicial que uno ha recibido el Espíritu Santo.

¿Si una persona recibe el Espíritu Santo el momento que cree y se arrepiente, entonces porqué el Apóstol Pablo les pregunta a los Efesios, “Recibisteis el Espíritu Santo cuando creísteis? (Hechos. 19:2). Si es automático, ¿no fuera Pablo necio en hacer tal pregunta?

Jesús y el Profeta Isaías ambos profetizaron que, todo los creyentes hablarían en lenguas cuando fueran bautizados en el Espíritu Santo. ¿No enseño Jesús que todo los creyentes, qué fuera bautizado, tendrían el poder para echar fuera demonios y hablar con nuevas lenguas? (Marcos 16:17-18).

THE BIRTH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

John 3:1-7

Some people use Ephesians 1:3 to teach that when one believes in God, one automatically receives the Holy Spirit. These people teach that one does not have to ask for or be sealed by the Holy Spirit, and that one does not have to speak in tongues. When we receive the Holy Spirit, He comes to live within us in His fullness; this is the filling. Ephesians 5:18 clearly teaches us that we must be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is not a suggestion, it's a command. Everyone who is born again must be filled with the Spirit. The comparison between wine and the Holy Spirit is brilliant. Just as wine, by controlling our lives, damages and destroys us, the Holy Spirit, by controlling our lives, transforms us more and more into the image of Christ.

What these people fail to distinguish is the fact that the Bible teaches that there are two phases to the work of the Spirit in the believer.

1. Begetting: Being begotten of the Spirit (John 1:12-13; I Peter 1:23; James 1:18).

2. Birth: Being born of the Spirit or being sealed (John 3:5; Acts 2:38).

THE BEGETTING (John 1:12-13)

A. When a person hears the Word of God and believes, at that moment God begets in them through His Word; “faith comes by hearing” (Romans 10:17).

B. Begetting is necessary before there can be a birth.

C. The father must first deposit his seed in the mother so that it unites with her fruit for birth to occur. Once conceived, the child begins to take on the likeness and characteristics of the one who begot him.

D. What is the seed of God?

1. God begot in us through His Word (I Peter 1:23).

2. Not everyone who hears the Word of God is begotten. The reason is because they do not add to it what produces begetting, which is “belief” or “faith” (Hebrews 3:15).

E. If one has been begotten by the Word and has "faith," will the work of the Spirit be there?

1. Yes, because the Word is spirit.

2. Can the Spirit beget? Yes! This is what happened to the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:35).

F. When a person has believed and accepted the Word of God in their heart, we do not deny that the Holy Spirit has done a work in them.

1. Yes, they are a child of God, but in perspective.

2. It is not at all strange that if someone has begotten a child, that child, within the mother's womb, begins to take on the characteristics of the one who begot him.

3. If God begot him, he takes on the characteristics of God, but this does not mean that he has been born of the Spirit (he has been sealed).

THE BIRTH: (John 3:2-5)

A. If one is not born, he cannot see the kingdom. If a child is not born, how can he see what is outside the womb?

B. A child cannot remain begotten; he must be born!

C. If a child is not born, he will die; he must be forced to be born by a doctor.

1. One must receive the Holy Spirit!

2. We must force those who have not received the Holy Spirit to receive it. We must pray with them and force them.

D. God's purpose is not only to beget children, but for them to be born!

WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPLES ASSOCIATED WITH A NATURAL BIRTH?

A. God's Universal Law:

     Everyone, regardless of race, color, or nationality, is born the same.

B. CONCEPTION:

     A life begins that never existed before. Conception is not birth. Birth comes later. Don't forget the fetus (the unborn child) can die before or during the birth process.

C. Growth In The Womb:

The embryo reaches a certain size where its movement is restricted. It is not free. The unborn child is bound by the environment it is in. It wants to get out, so it begins to kick and thrash. When the desire for freedom is intense enough, labor begins.

D. Childbirth:

What is the medium that carries the unborn child from the world of captivity to the world of freedom? It is the muscles of the uterus, the blood, and the water in the sac.

E. Birth:

After the child has passed from the old world to the new, a sign is given to all who witness the event that the child did not die in the birth process. When the breath of life enters and fills the child's lungs, "a cry comes from the mouth of the child."

WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPLES ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPIRITUAL BIRTH?

A. The Universal Law Of God:

All are conceived and born into the kingdom of God in the same way. The only difference would be the time it takes; for some it is a very short time, for others it is a long time, and yet for many they will die before birth.

B. Conception:

     “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God” (I Peter 1:23). The word “born” in this scripture is not the same Greek word Jesus used in His discourse with Nicodemus. This word is [anagennao], which should be translated “reborn” as in I Peter 1:3. How did the Apostle Peter say we are begotten or conceived? It is by incorruptible seed, by the word of God. The Apostle James said it this way, “Of His own will He begot us (begotten) by the word of truth” (James 1:18).

     Jesus explained the principle of conception fully in the parable of the sower (Matt. 13:1-23). ​​He taught that the sower was the preacher. The seed was the gospel. The soil was the heart of man. The “seed” has life within it to generate or bear fruit when it falls into the ground. Does not he Bible teach that “Many are called, but few are chosen” (Matt. 22:14).

     We can safely conclude, based on the evidence of these scriptures that a person is not born again when they believe the Gospel in their heart; they are only in the conception stage of the New Birth.

C. Growth In The Womb:

After a person enters conception, they will repent of their sins and become hungry for God. They will begin to seek God regularly through prayer, Bible reading, and study. After a period of time, the believer discovers that their old nature is too strong for them. They are not free in their walk with God. They recognize that something is missing in their relationship with God. They need to be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit.

D. Childbirth:

When a believer tires of letting sin reign in their life, labor will begin. What is the means that brings the believer out of captivity to sin? It is the Word of God, the Blood of Jesus, and Water Baptism!

E. Birth:

There is a sign given to all that testifies to birth, whether before or after the unborn child is delivered from the world of captivity to freedom. When the Holy Spirit enters, a sound will come from the child's mouth. The child will begin to speak in a language he or she had never known before, as the Spirit gives him or her utterance or words to speak. This is the initial biblical evidence that one has received the Holy Spirit.

If a person receives the Holy Spirit the moment they believe and repent, then why does the Apostle Paul ask the Ephesians, “Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed” (Acts 19:2). If it is automatic, wouldn’t Paul be foolish to ask such a question?

Jesus and the Prophet Isaiah both prophesied that all believers would speak in tongues when they were baptized in the Holy Spirit. Didn’t Jesus teach that all believers, who were baptized, would have the power to cast out demons and speak with new tongues? (Mark 16:17-18)

¿DONDE ESTA SU TESORO?

“No os hagáis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín corrompen, y donde ladrones minan y hurtan; sino haceos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni la polilla ni el orín corrompen, y donde ladrones no minan ni hurtan. Porque donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón.” Mateo 6:19-21

“Le dijo uno de la multitud: Maestro, di a mi hermano que parta conmigo la herencia. Mas él le dijo: Hombre, ¿quién me ha puesto sobre vosotros como juez o partidor? Y les dijo: Mirad, y guardaos de toda avaricia; porque la vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee. También les refirió una parábola, diciendo: La heredad de un hombre rico había producido mucho. Y él pensaba dentro de sí, diciendo: ¿Qué haré, porque no tengo dónde guardar mis frutos? Y dijo: Esto haré: derribaré mis graneros, y los edificaré mayores, y allí guardaré todos mis frutos y mis bienes; y diré a mi alma: Alma, muchos bienes tienes guardados para muchos años; repósate, come, bebe, regocíjate. Pero Dios le dijo: Necio, esta noche vienen a pedirte tu alma; y lo que has provisto, ¿de quién será? Así es el que hace para sí tesoro, y no es rico para con Dios.” Lucas 12:13-21

Cuando piensa de toda la ansiedad, congoja, tensión y daño físico que viene como un resultado directo de nuestra búsqueda frenética de las posesiones, uno tiene que admitir que parece de hecho como que si el dinero es la cosa más importante en el mundo.

Argumentos sobre el dinero son la causa primaria de tensión matrimonial entre parejas. Los periódicos cuentan de gente quien se mata el uno al otro sobre el dinero y cosas, para decir nada de esos quien literalmente se están matando ellos mismos en su búsqueda frenética de logros y la acumulación.

Es una inclinación natural en la mayoría de nosotros de conseguir cosas, rodearnos con posesiones materiales. ¡Si solo tuviera una casa mejor, un sueldo mejor, un carro mejor, que mejor fuera la vida! ¡Quizás! Pero no hay ninguna garantía. “porque la vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee.”  

Cuantos de nosotros no hemos dicho en un tiempo u otro, “Si nomás tuviere un millón de dólares, yo compraría esto y eso, o hiciera esto y aquello.” El aspecto duro del dinero y las posesiones materiales es que necesitamos una cierta cantidad de ellos para vivir. Nuestras posesiones enriquecen nuestras vidas en maneras innumerables. Pero, como hemos notado, nuestras posesiones también pueden hacernos miserables. ¿Qué es lo que hace la diferencia? Esa es la pregunta detrás de la escritura de hoy, acerca de las posesiones.

MIRAD, Y GUARDAOS

Si trazaremos la vida humana, notando las preocupaciones predominantes a cada etapa en la peregrinación de la vida, la preocupación sobre posesiones materiales marcaría cada paso a lo largo del camino.  

El adolescente, en un intento desesperado de ser aceptado como uno del grupo, compra zapatos especiales y ropa que son “De moda”. La calidad no es la meta en estas compras. La cosa principal es comprar cosas que aseguraran la popularidad. A una edad temprana, venimos a asociar las posesiones como la manera de ganar amigos y lograr un sentido de bienestar personal.

El colegiante, que a menudo crítica a sus padres por sus preocupaciones con la casa, carro, trabajo y el prestigio, anhela un carro nuevo, el mejor estéreo para su dormitorio. El “se quema las cejas” con esperanzas de lograra mejores grados para que después pueda conseguir un trabajo que paga bien que renda un ingreso suficiente para satisfacer sus expectativas.

La pareja quien descuida sus hijos para realizar cada deseo material posible para ellos. Ellos están llenos de ansiedad sobre el futuro de una vida de acumulación. ¿Es vida esto?

Un hombre viene a Jesús y le pide que resuelva una disputa sobre una herencia. Pero Jesús no se envuelve en la disputa de esta familia sobre el dinero. En cambio, Él usa esta ocasión para advertir a todo mundo, “Mirad, y guardaos de toda avaricia; porque la vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee.”

Mirad que los deseos vanos de hoy no llegan a ser las necesidades de mañana. Mirad que las cosas sin valor en la vida no excluyen las cosas que valen la pena en la vida. Eso es frecuentemente la manera que es con el dinero.

Aquí tenemos a dos hermanos que han llegado a ser alienados el uno del otro sobre una herencia. ¿Ha conocido alguna familia que le ha sucedido esto? Alguien, una vez me dijo, “La mejor cosa que los padres puede hacer para sus hijos es gastar todo su dinero mientras viven y no dejar nada para que la familia no se destruya después en una disputa sobre la herencia.”

¡Qué triste ver una familia dividido sobre posesiones! ¡Que triste es ver una vida corrompida o destruida en búsqueda de la abundancia de algo que, mientras es importante, no puede exclusivamente conducir a una vida abundante!

ASI ES EL QUE HACE PARA SI TESORO

Aquí esta un hombre quien podemos llamar la personificación del éxito. El ha levantado su negocio de la nada a una aventura prospera. El ocupa un lugar en la directiva de dos corporaciones y sirve como un síndico de una universidad grande. Le pudiéramos llamar un ciudadano ejemplar.

Pero Dios podría llamarle a este excelente, persona prospera un necio, un hombre quien pensaba que tenía tanto, pero en realidad tenía nada. Todos sus logros financieros, sus graneros llenos, sus acciones y bonos, sus cuentas bancarias, ¿de que le sirven ahora que el ángel de la muerte le llama y respira su último?

Este hombre quien en los ojos del mundo aparece tan sabio es en la realidad muy tonto. El, alocadamente pensó que sus riquezas le podían escudar de la muerte. “Así es el que hace para sí tesoro, y no es rico para con Dios.”

Ponemos nuestro dinero en un plan de retiro para asegurarnos contra problemas cuando lleguemos a ser ancianos. Instalamos un sistema de alarma contra ladrones para proteger nuestras posesiones. Construimos casas grandes, graneros más grandes, y cuentas más grandes de ahorros.  Les pasamos cosas a nuestros herederos para que ellos también puedan construir graneros más grandes, cuentas más grandes de ahorros. Pero, cuando la muerte nos llama, ¿qué entonces? “¿y lo que has provisto, de quién será?  

DONDE ESTA SU TESORO

Considerad los lirios, dijo Jesús. Vea su belleza, su exuberancia. Aun, ¿que han hecho para merecer su belleza? Su gloria viene como un regalo de Dios. “No temáis,” dice Jesús.

Pero esto es más fácil decir que hacer. La ansiedad sobre las cosas materiales es una fuente principal de problemas emocionales y físicos de salud. A veces nuestra ansiedad es relacionada con temores sobre proveer por las necesidades básicas de la vida. A menudo esta relacionado con temor sobre obtener cosas que no son en ninguna manera necesarios para nuestra supervivencia.

Recientemente, se tomo una encuesta y se les pregunto a la gente, “¿Esta usted más feliz hoy que era hace diez anos?” ¿Por qué es que la gente no se siente más feliz y más financieramente prósperos? La razón se debe a lo que se llama “El fenómeno nivel de adaptación.” Esto significa que nuestros niveles de expectativa en la vida se adaptan a nuestros niveles de logro.

Simplemente dicho, entre más tenemos, más queremos. Nuestros ingresos pueden haber subido. Pero nuestro ingreso nunca sube tan rápido como nuestras expectativas. Con razón, que mientras intentamos “hacernos tesoros,” estamos condenados a la infelicidad perpetua. Nunca podemos conseguir lo suficiente que queremos. Podemos conseguir lo que necesitamos, pero lo que nosotros queremos es otra cosa.

Si Dios les da a los lirios del campo lo que necesitan, estas plantas frágiles “que hoy está en el campo, y mañana es echada al horno,” ¿cuánto más a nosotros, suplirá Dios nuestras necesidades? Pero, nuestros deseos, no nuestras necesidades, es nuestro gran problema.

Mientras Jesús talvez no tuvo posesiones propias, Él sabia el poder que las cosas materiales podían tener sobre la gente. “Porque donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón.” La chequera de una persona nos puede decir mucho de su corazón como cualquier otra cosa. Jesús no tuvo ilusiones sobre la naturaleza humana. Él supo que nuestros corazones tienden a estar dondequiera que este nuestro dinero.

“No os preocupéis por lo que habéis de comer, ni por lo que habéis de beber, ni estéis en ansiosa inquietud.” No permitas que la búsqueda de posesiones materiales se vuelva en una obsesión. No dejes que su vida sea consumida con una pasión para las cosas que no satisfacen finalmente. ¿Por qué hablo Jesús tanto sobre posesiones materiales? Porque reconocía la locura y la desilusión que viene a esos quien confían en las “cosas” más que en Él. “Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.”         

 

  

 

  

           

 

 

WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?

 

^“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matt. 6:19-21)

“And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possess. And he spoke a parable unto them, saying, The fields of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:13-21)

When you think of all the anxiety, grief, stress, and physical harm that come as a direct result of our frantic pursuit for possessions, one must agree that it does indeed seem as if money is the most important thing in the world.

Arguments about money are the primary cause of marital stress among couples. The newspapers tell of people who kill one another over money and things, to say nothing of those who are literally killing themselves in their frantic pursuit of achievement and accumulation.

It is a natural inclination in most of us to get things, to surround ourselves with material possessions. If only I had a better house, a better salary, a better car, how much better life would be! Perhaps! But there is no guarantee. Jesus said, “A man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

How many of us have said at one time or another, “If I only had a million dollars, I would buy this and that, or do this and that. The tough aspect of money and material possessions is that we need a certain amount of them in order to live. Our possessions enrich our lives in countless ways. But, as we have noted, our possessions can also make us miserable. What makes the difference? That is the question behind today’s scripture concerning possessions.

TAKE HEED AND BEWARE

If we were to chart human life, noticing the predominant concerns at each stage in life’s pilgrimage, concern about material possessions would mark each step along the way.

The teenager, in a desperate attempt to be accepted as one of the crowd, buys special shoes and clothes which are “in” at the moment. Quality is not the goal in these purchases. The main thing is to buy things that will ensure popularity. At an early age, we come to associate possessions as the way to win friends and to achieve a sense of personal well-being.

The college student, while sometimes putting down his parents’ preoccupation with house, car, job and prestige; longs for the best car, the best stereo in the dorm. He “burns the midnight oil,” in hopes of getting good grades to get a high paying job that will yield a sufficient income to meet his expectations. The couple who neglect their children in order to fulfill every possible material desire for their children. They are filled with anxiety over the future of a lifetime of accumulation. Is this life?

A man comes to Jesus and asks him to settle an inheritance dispute. But Jesus doesn’t get involved in the brothers squabble over the money. Instead, he uses this as an occasion to warn everyone, “Take heed, and beware of all covetousness, for man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Take heed lest today’s vain desires become tomorrow’s necessities. Take heed lest the worthless things in life crowd out the worthwhile things in life. That’s often the way it is with money.

Here we have two brothers who have become alienated from each other over an inheritance. Have you ever known that to happen in a family? Someone once told me, “The best thing a parent can do for their children is to spend all the money while they are alive and leave nothing so that the family will not be destroyed later in a dispute over the inheritance.” How sad to see a family torn apart over possessions! How sad to see a life corrupted or destroyed in pursuit of the abundance of something which, while important, cannot alone lead to an abundant life!

SO IS HE WHO LAYS UP TREASURE

Here is a man whom we might call the epitome of success “the American way.” He has built his business up from nothing into a thriving, prosperous venture. He sits on the boards of two corporations and serves as a trustee at a major university. We would call him a model citizen.

But God might call this fine, prosperous person a fool, a man who thought he had so much but in reality had nothing. All his financial achievements, his full barns, his stocks and bonds, his bank accounts, what good do they do him as the angel of death calls him and he breathes his last?

This man who in the eyes of the world appears so wise is in reality very foolish. He foolishly thought that his wealth could shield him from death. “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God”

We put our money in an IRA to insure against problems when we grow old. We install a burglar alarm system to protect our possessions. We build bigger houses, bigger warehouses, and bigger savings accounts. We pass things along to our heirs so they can build even bigger barns, bigger savings accounts. But, when death calls us, what then? “And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?”

WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS

Consider the lilies, says Jesus. See their beauty, their luxuriance, yet what have they done to earn their beauty? Their glory comes as a gift from God. “Fear not,” Jesus says.

But this is easier said than done. Anxiety over our material things is a major source of emotional and physical health problems. Sometimes our anxiety is related to fears about providing for the basic necessities of life. Often it is related to fears over obtaining things that are in no way necessary for our survival.

Recently, Americans were asked by public opinion researchers, “Are you happier today than you were ten years ago?” Why don’t people feel happier and more financially prosperous? The reason is what is called the “adaptation level phenomenon.” This means that our levels of expectation in life adapt to our levels of achievement.

Simply stated, the more we have, the more we want. Our incomes may have risen. But our income never rises as fast as our expectations. No wonder, that as we attempt to “lay up treasure” for ourselves, we are doomed to perpetual unhappiness. We can never get as much as we want. We may get what we need, but what we want is another matter.

If God gives the lilies of the field what they need, these fragile plants which are “alive in the field today and tomorrow are thrown into the oven” how much more will God supply our needs? But our wants, not our needs, are our big problem.

While Jesus may not have had possessions of his own, He knew the power that material things can exercise over people. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” A person’s checkbook can tell us as much as anything else about their heart. Jesus had no delusions about human nature. He knew that our hearts tend to be wherever our money is.

Do not be overly concerned about what you are to eat and drink. Do not let the pursuit of material possessions become an obsession. Don’t let your life be consumed by a passion for things that do not ultimately satisfy.  Why did Jesus talk so much about material possessions? Because, He recognized the foolishness and disappointment that come to those who trust in “things” rather then in Him. “Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and He will take care of the rest.
