YOGA AND CHRISTIANITY

I Corinthians 10:19-23

Should Christians do yoga? Is yoga a sin? Can a demon come into a Christian who does yoga? Can a Christian do yoga if he just stretches and thinks about Jesus? What about meditation?

There is no such thing as Christian yoga. Any kind of yoga is dangerous because most of these practices come from Eastern mysticism. God forbids us from practicing and doing the things that other people do to worship their gods (demons). The bible teaches us that behind every false god (idol) is a demon (I Corinthians 10:19-22).

For many Christians who don’t understand the history behind it, yoga is simply a means of physical exercise and strengthening and improving the flexibility of the muscles. However, the philosophy behind yoga is much more than physically improving oneself. It is an ancient practice derived from India, believed to be the path to spiritual growth and enlightenment.

Should Christians practice or do yoga? We have to first understand what yoga really is. Many Christians see yoga as relaxing, stretching exercises, improving flexibility. Real yoga instructors know the philosophy behind it. Yoga is not just a normal relaxing exercise. Yoga is over 5,000 years old, it started in India and it was created to be a path to spiritual growth and enlightenment with the god Brahman.

The word yoga means "union," and the goal is to unite one’s transitory (temporary) self, the mind and the body, with the infinite Brahman, the Hindu concept of "God." This god is not a literal being but is an impersonal spiritual substance that is one with nature and the cosmos. This view is called "pantheism," the belief that everything is god and that reality consists only of the universe and nature. Because everything is god, the yoga philosophy makes no distinction between man and God.

Hatha yoga is the aspect of yoga that focuses on the physical body through special postures, breathing exercises, and concentration or meditation. It is a means to prepare the body for spiritual exercises, with fewer obstacles, in order to achieve enlightenment. The practice of yoga is based on the belief that man and God are one. This is essentially self-worship disguised as high-level spirituality and it is against God’s Word. Yoga teaches oneness with god (Brahman) and nature. It teaches you to find your answers in life in this state of consciousness, to find unity with your divine self. We know through God’s word that this is a lie (Romans 1:22, 25).  

Is it possible for a Christian to isolate the physical aspects of yoga as simply a method of exercise, without incorporating the spirituality or philosophy behind it? Yoga originated with a blatantly anti-Christian philosophy, and that philosophy has not changed. It teaches one to focus on oneself instead of on the one true God. It encourages its participants to seek the answers to life’s difficult questions within their own consciousness instead of in the Word of God. It also leaves one open to deception from Satan, who searches for victims whom he can turn away from God (I Peter 5:8).

Some Christians think that it is alright to do yoga because they think that it’s just stretching exercises. They reason that if someone dedicates an activity or practice to Jesus, it is automatic, by definition, Christian. One can simply dismiss criticisms with two words: Jesus Christ. Claiming devotion to the Lord Jesus is the ultimate argument-stopper to anyone who criticizes the practice of yoga among Christians. Practicing yoga should not be an issue because God always looks at the heart. As long as you’re practicing yoga to glorify God, then there should be no problem.

Don’t be naïve, yoga is dangerous. It’s just like saying I’m going to play with the ouija board just for fun; I don’t believe in it, it’s just a game. You think it is just a game, but the demons don’t. If you do yoga you are taking part in something that was created for a false god, and we know that the Bible teaches that behind every false god is a demon (I Corinthians 10:19-20).

Listen to the instructors of yoga and see what they do and say when doing yoga. Why do you think they use mantras while they do yoga? Why do they have idols statues or pictures of them in their classrooms? As Christians, we should stay away from all occultic New Age practices. Yoga is dangerous because it opens you up to receive psychic impressions. Don’t involve yourself with, or seek after these things, spiritual experiences that God warns us about in Scripture (Leviticus 20:6, 18:10-13). This is very dangerous, if you are partaking of these occultic things or New Age things you’re opening yourself up to demons to come into you (Ephesians 5:11).

We as believers are commanded by God to meditate, meditation is defined as contemplation. The kind of meditation that God instructs us to do is on Him and His Word just as it declares throughout the Bible to meditate on His word day and night. This kind of meditation is very different from the way and the kind that is practiced by the New Age religions and the Eastern religions (Psalm 1:2, 145:5). It does not mean to zone out and open yourself up to spiritual forces (demons) in the air or to think about nothing.

God’s Word tells us just the opposite, to be sober-minded (1 Peter 5:8). True biblical meditation is taking some time and putting God first in your life above everything else. Going to that secret, quiet place where you can be alone with God, thinking about Him, His Word, and talking to Him. God wants a relationship with you so he wants you to spend time with Him (Matt. 6:6). The Christian doesn’t have to do strange things to connect with God. We should not try things that the Word of God does not teach, such as mantras, controlled breathing, chanting, strange relaxation techniques, or yoga.

Yoga is an ancient spiritual discipline whose central doctrines are utterly incompatible with those of Christianity. Even Hatha yoga, often considered to be exclusively concerned with physical development, is best understood as merely a means of helping the yogi reach the goal of samadhi or union with their god  “Brahman.” If you look through an introductory text on Hatha yoga you will see many different postures illustrated. Many of these are similar, if not identical, to exercises and stretches that many yoga students are doing.

Many yoga scholars have stated that yoga philosophy cannot be separated from yoga practice. Dave Fetcho, formerly of the Ananda Marga Yoga Society, has written, “Physical yoga, according to its classical definitions, is inheritably and functionally incapable of being separated from Eastern religious metaphysics.” What’s more, yoga authorities Feuerstein and Miller, in discussing yoga postures (asana) and breathing exercises (pranayama), indicate that such practices are more than just another form of physical exercise; indeed, they “are psychosomatic exercises.” Separating theory from practice is simply impossible with yoga.

People who practice yoga or meditation do it to achieve spiritual awakening which they think will let them experience the spiritual realm, the Hindus refer to it as opening the third eye. They think that it is a kind of doorway to all things psychic. The only forces that are in the spiritual realm are God, the angels, and the devil and his demons. There is nothing more than that. There is not a strange kind of reality or another kind of truth out there. But, the devil and his demons will try to make you think that there is. They will deceive you if you open yourself up to the spiritual forces in the air. Demons can let you experience strange things, but remember what you feel, what you think you see is not from God (John 8: 44).

Many people do yoga and meditation because they want to find peace, relax, and to find rest. We as children of God don’t have to do yoga we already have peace and rest in Him (John 14:27, Philippians 4:6).   

QUIÉN ES SATANÁS Y CÓMO OPERA

“Sed sobrios, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el diablo, como león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando a quien devorar.” (I Pedro 5:8)

Nuestro enemigo es conocido por varios nombres; Satanás, el diablo, Lucifer, Belcebú y Apolión (napoleón). No importa con qué nombre lo conozcas, es nuestro enemigo, nos odia y quiere destruirnos. Es por eso que debemos saber quién es y cómo opera.

"Ahora es el juicio de este mundo; ahora será expulsado el príncipe de este mundo". (Juan 12:31) Estas fueron las palabras de Jesús antes de su muerte en la cruz que traerían salvación a su pueblo y también derrotarían a Satanás. Desde el momento de la muerte de Jesús, Satanás fue juzgado, derrotado y radicalmente limitado en su poder. Satanás vino a hurtar, matar y destruir la creación de Dios (Juan 10:10).

¡Lo primero que debemos saber es que el diablo no puede obligarnos a pecar! Santiago 4: 7 dice: "Sométete, pues, a Dios, resiste al diablo y él huirá de ti". Es por esto que nadie puede decir verdaderamente: "El diablo me obligó a hacerlo". Él puede tentarnos y seducirnos a pecar, pero no tiene el poder ni la capacidad de hacernos cometer el acto del pecado. Con cada tentación que presenta Satanás, Dios proporciona una vía de escape (I Corintios 10:13). Si elegimos ceder a la tentación, nuestro pecado es el resultado de nuestros deseos y concupiscencias carnales.

La Biblia enseña que debido a que Dios nos creó con libre albedrío, nadie, ni siquiera el Diablo, tiene poder sobre nosotros para hacernos pecar. El libre albedrío es un regalo de Dios que no se puede quitar (Romanos 11:29). Satanás no puede superar la voluntad de una persona sin que entre en una relación de pacto con él. Una persona tendría que permitir voluntariamente que Satanás lo controle. La única forma en que puede hacernos pecar es a través de la tentación o el engaño. La Biblia enseña enfáticamente que si lo resistimos, huirá.

La palabra de Dios enseña que solo Dios es omnipresente, puede estar en muchos lugares al mismo tiempo (Jeremías 23:24). El diablo no posee este atributo. Está limitado a un lugar a la vez. Es porque es muy activo en el mundo, que muchos piensan que está en todas partes. Satanás tiene poder y una vasta legión de ángeles caídos bajo su mando, un ejército de espíritus demoníacos que hacen su trabajo por él. Efesios 6:12, "Porque no luchamos contra sangre y carne, sino contra principados, contra potestades, contra los gobernantes de las tinieblas de este mundo, contra la maldad espiritual en las alturas (el aire)".

A Satanás se le llama el "príncipe de la potestad del aire" (Efesios 2: 2). Él es el "gobernante de este mundo (edad)" (II Corintios 4: 4; Juan 12:31). Esto no sugiere que gobierne el mundo por completo; Dios sigue siendo soberano. Dios, en su infinita sabiduría, ha permitido que Satanás opere en este mundo dentro de los límites que Él le ha establecido. Cuando la Biblia dice que Satanás tiene poder sobre el mundo, debemos recordar que Dios le ha dado dominio solo sobre los incrédulos. Los hijos de Dios no están bajo el gobierno de Satanás (Colosenses 1:13). Los incrédulos son atrapados "en el lazo del diablo" (II Timoteo 2:26) y yacen en el "poder del maligno" (I Juan 5:19).

Cuando la Biblia dice que Satanás es el "dios de este mundo", no está diciendo que tiene autoridad absoluta. Esa transmitiendo la idea de que Satanás gobierna sobre el mundo incrédulo de una manera específica. El incrédulo sigue la agenda de Satanás: "El dios de este mundo ha cegado la mente de los incrédulos para que no puedan ver la luz del evangelio de la gloria de Cristo" (II Corintios 4: 4).

Otra cosa que debemos saber sobre el diablo es que no puede hacer nada sin el permiso de Dios. Dios es soberano sobre todas las cosas; Él tiene el control de todo en este mundo, incluso Satanás está bajo el gobierno de Dios. En el capítulo uno de Job, vemos que Satanás tuvo que presentarse ante Dios e incluso tuvo que pedir permiso para atormentar a Job. La verdad es que Satanás tiene que pedirle permiso a Dios antes de poder hacer algo. Podemos descansar en esta tremenda verdad de que nada puede sucedernos sin el permiso de Dios primero. E incluso si Dios lo permite, Él está contigo y Satanás solo puede moverse en los parámetros que Dios ha establecido. Tu destrucción no es parte de ello. La única parte de un creyente en la que Satanás puede influir es nuestra parte humana (nuestra carne). Satanás tiene dominio sobre la carnalidad que obtuvo a través del pecado de Adán y Eva (Romanos 6:16; Colosenses 1:13).

Antes de la victoria de Jesús en la cruz, la posesión por demonios prevalecía en los tiempos bíblicos. Sabemos esto porque Jesús expulsó muchos demonios durante su ministerio. Los demonios podían poseer una persona a voluntad, ya que no había límites para su libertad. La victoria de Jesús en la cruz les quitó la libertad de poseer a un ser humano y a Satanás, y sus demonios ya no pueden poseer a un persona a menos que se les invite a hacerlo. Satanás y los demonios ya no tienen este derecho de entrar y salir de una persona sin ser invitado a voluntad.

“Borrando la escritura de las ordenanzas que estaba contra nosotros, que era contraria a nosotros, y la quitó de en medio, clavándola en su cruz; y habiendo saqueado principados y potestades, los exhibió abiertamente, triunfando sobre ellos en ella ”. (Colosenses 2: 14-15) Satanás ahora está muy limitado en cuanto a la duración y extensión de su poder. No puede lograr nada sin la cooperación de una persona.

Una gran idea errónea que la gente tiene del Diablo es que tiene acceso a nuestros pensamientos, nuestras mentes. La escritura nos dice en 1 Reyes 8:39 que solo Dios puede conocer nuestros corazones. El diablo (el engañador) intentará hacerte pensar que tiene mayor poder lo que en verdad tiene. El campo de batalla es la mente, y aquí es donde debemos estar atentos para discernir de dónde están motivados nuestros pensamientos y acciones.

Sin el permiso de Dios, Satanás no tiene poder ni autoridad para hacer una sola cosa. No puede escudriñar ni conocer el corazón humano. Satanás es un ser creado que está subordinado a Dios, su poder es limitado. Conoce a tu enemigo para que puedas resistir cualquier cosa que te arroje.

Una gran verdad y promesa de la Palabra de Dios es que Satanás no puede ganar. Romanos 16:20 dice; “Y el Dios de paz aplastará a Satanás bajo tus pies” Satanás es un enemigo derrotado. La batalla no es nuestra, sino de Dios, y Él nos ha dado todo lo que necesitamos para resistir los ataques del enemigo. Tenemos autoridad sobre él por medio de Cristo Jesús.

 

 

WHO HE IS SATAN AND HOW DOES HE OPERATE

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (I Peter 5:8)

Our enemy is known by various names; Satan, the Devil, Lucifer, Beelzebub, and Apollyon (napoleon). It doesn’t matter by what name you know him by, he is our enemy, he hates us and he wants to destroy us. It is because of this we should know who he is and how he operates.

“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out” (John 12:31).  These were Jesus’ words before his death on the cross which would bring salvation to His people and also defeat Satan. From the moment of Jesus’ death, Satan was judged, defeated, and radically limited in his power. Satan came to steal, kill and destroy God’s creation.

The first thing we should know is that the devil cannot force us to sin! James 4:7 says, “Therefore submit to God, resist the Devil and he will flee from you.” It is because of this that no one can truly say, “The Devil made me do it.” He can tempt and seduce us to sin, but he has no power or ability to make us commit the act of sin. With every temptation that Satan presents, God provides a way of escape (I Corinthians 10:13). If we choose to yield to the temptation, our sin is the result of our fleshly lusts and desires.

The bible teaches that because God created us with free will, no one, not even the Devil has power over us to make us sin. Free will is a gift from God that cannot be removed (Romans 11:29). Satan cannot overtake a person’s will without them entering into a covenant relationship with him. A person would have to voluntarily permit Satan to control them. The only way that he can get us to sin is through temptation or deception. The Bible emphatically teaches that if we resist him he will flee.

The word of God teaches that only God is omnipresent, He can be in many places at the same time, (Jeremiah 23:24). The Devil does not possess this attribute. He is limited to one place at a time. It is because he is very active in the world, that many think he is everywhere. Satan has power and a vast legion of fallen angels at his command, an army of demonic spirits that do his work for him. Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (the air).” 

Satan is called the "prince of the power of the air" in Ephesians 2:2. He is the "ruler of this world (age)" II Corinthians 4:4; John 12:31. This is not to suggest that he rules the world completely; God is still sovereign. God, in His infinite wisdom, has allowed Satan to operate in this world within the boundaries He has set for him. When the Bible says Satan has power over the world, we must remember that God has given him domain over unbelievers only. The children of God are not under the rule of Satan (Colossians 1:13). Unbelievers are caught "in the snare of the devil" (II Timothy 2:26) and lie in the "power of the evil one" (I John 5:19).                                       

When the Bible says that Satan is the "god of this world," it is not saying that he has absolute authority. It is conveying the idea that Satan rules over the unbelieving world in a specific way. The unbeliever follows Satan’s agenda: "The god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ" (II Corinthians 4:4).

Another thing that we should know about the devil is that he cannot do anything without God’s permission. God is sovereign over all things; He is in control of everything in this world, even Satan is under God’s rulership. In Job chapter one, we see that Satan had to present himself before God and he even had to ask for permission to torment Job. The truth is that Satan has to ask God before he can do anything. We can rest on this tremendous truth that nothing can happen to us without God’s permission first. And, even if God permits it, He is with you, His hand is on it, and Satan can only move in the parameters that God has set. Your destruction is not part of it. The only part of a believer that Satan can influence is our human part (our flesh). Satan holds dominion over that carnality which he gained through Adam and Eve’s sin (Romans 6:16; Colossians 1:13).

Before Jesus’ victory on the cross, possession by demons was prevalent in biblical times. We know this because Jesus cast out many demons during his ministry. Demons could possess a person at will as there were no limits to their liberty. Jesus’ victory on the cross eliminated their liberty to possess a human being and Satan, nor can his demons no longer possess a person unless they invite them to do so. Satan and demons no longer hold this right to enter uninvited in and out of a person at will.

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:14-15). Satan now is very limited in the length and extent of his power. He cannot accomplish anything without a person’s co-operation.

One great misconception that people have of the Devil is that he has access to our thoughts, our minds. The scripture tells us in I kings 8:39 that only God can know our hearts. The devil (the deceiver) will try to make you think that he has greater powers than he does. The battlefield is the mind, and this is where we need to be vigilant to discern from where our thoughts and actions are motivated.

Without God’s permission, Satan has no power or authority to do a single thing. He cannot search or know the human heart. Satan is a created being who is subservient to God, his power is limited. Know your enemy so you can withstand anything that he might throw at you.

One great truth and promise from the Word of God is that Satan cannot win. Romans 16:20 says; “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet” Satan is a defeated enemy. The battle is not ours, but God’s, and He has given us everything we need to withstand the enemy’s attacks. We have authority over him through Christ Jesus.

 

 

LA VERDAD SOBRE LOS FANTASMAS

“No se encontrará entre ustedes... uno que use adivinación, un adivino, o un mago, o un hechicero, o un encantador, o uno que consulte a un fantasma o un espíritu familiar, o un nigromante. Porque todo el que hace estas cosas es abominación a Jehová” (Deut.18: 10-12).

¿Existe tal cosa como los fantasmas? La respuesta a esta pregunta depende del significado del término "fantasmas". Si el término significa "seres espirituales", la respuesta es "sí". Si el término significa "espíritus de personas que han muerto", la respuesta es "no". La Biblia deja en claro que hay seres espirituales, tanto buenos como malos. Pero la Biblia niega la idea de que los espíritus de los seres humanos fallecidos pueden permanecer en la tierra y "acechar " a los vivos. Hebreos 9:27 declara: "El hombre está destinado a morir una vez, y después de eso para enfrentar el juicio". Eso es lo que le sucede al espíritu - alma de una persona después de la muerte: el juicio. El resultado de este juicio es el cielo para el creyente (II Corintios 5: 6-8; Filipenses 1:23) y el infierno para el incrédulo (Mateo 25:46; Lucas 16: 22-24). No hay ningún intermediario.  No hay posibilidad de permanecer en la tierra en forma de espíritu como un "fantasma".

Las evidencias bíblicas muestran que no hay espíritu de los muertos deambulando por la tierra en forma espiritual. Nadie regresa a la tierra y hace apariciones después de la muerte. Jesús dejó este hecho bastante claro en Lucas 16:26. En el pasaje, un hombre rico que quería la oportunidad de regresar a la tierra desde el infierno y advertir a sus hermanos, sin embargo, Abraham le dice: "Y además de todo esto, entre nosotros y usted se ha solucionado un gran abismo, para que aquellos que quieran ir de aquí a ti no puedes, ni nadie puede cruzar de allí a nosotros”. El simple hecho es que nuestros seres queridos no van a regresar como apariciones en nuestros hogares después de que pasen. Se han ido a destino eterno. Si existen fantasmas, según la Biblia, no son los espíritus incorpóreos de los seres humanos fallecidos. Mientras que los ángeles y los demonios pueden recorrer nuestra tierra, Dios no permitirá que un ser querido fallecido regrese a este mundo.

La Biblia enseña muy claramente que de hecho hay seres espirituales que pueden conectarse y aparecer en nuestro mundo físico. Los espíritus a menudo se discuten a lo largo de las Escrituras. La Biblia identifica a estos seres como ángeles y demonios. Los ángeles son seres espirituales que son fieles al servir a Dios. Los ángeles son justos, buenos y santos. Los demonios son ángeles caídos, ángeles que se rebelaron contra Dios. Los demonios son malvados, engañosos y destructivos. Según II Corintios 11: 14-15, los demonios se hacen pasar por "ángeles de la luz" y como "siervos de la justicia".

El interés por lo paranormal se está volviendo cada vez más común. Los seres humanos son innatamente conscientes del mundo espiritual. Lamentablemente, en lugar de buscar la verdad sobre el mundo espiritual comunicándose con Dios y estudiando Su Palabra, muchas personas se dejan llevar por el mundo espiritual. Satanás se aprovecha de la ignorancia de las personas para victimizarlas. Los fantasmas usan su fuerza espiritual para dañar a la humanidad. En los tiempos actuales hay un predominio de demonios que afectan a la humanidad. Todos los fantasmas y demonios están controlados por Satanás.

Satanás dirige un gobierno paralelo contra Dios, que se conoce como el "reino de las tinieblas" (Colosenses 1:13). Aunque Satanás es sabio, él no es el Omnisciente que Dios es. Por lo tanto, falsifica todo en el reino de Dios para engañar a los santos y llevarlos a la adoración falsa.

Los fantasmas son espíritus demoníacos que están familiarizados con un entorno o familia en particular. Debido a que han estado en esa familia o entorno mucho más tiempo que incluso los humanos, también están "familiarizados" con la historia de la familia y el entorno, y por lo tanto pueden imitar a la (s) persona (s) que se disfrazan / disfrazan. No ignores los dispositivos de Satanás ni te dejes engañar por sus mentiras. "Las personas son destruidas por falta de conocimiento" (Oseas 4: 6).

Los fantasmas pueden tomar cualquier forma. Sin embargo, estas formas pueden cambiar, dependiendo de lo que el fantasma esté tratando de lograr. Por ejemplo, si el fantasma está tratando de intimidar, tomará una forma intimidante, mientras que si está tratando de engañar a una persona espiritual, puede tomar la forma de un ángel. También pueden tomar la forma de nuestros antepasados ​​difuntos, lo que engaña a los psíquicos y a las personas que acuden a los psíquicos para preguntar sobre los parientes fallecidos. Esto es cierto en casi todos los casos. Aparecer como un "fantasma" y hacerse pasar por un ser humano fallecido definitivamente parece estar dentro del poder y las habilidades que poseen los demonios.

¿Qué pasa con los casos en que los "fantasmas" actúan de manera "positiva"? ¿Qué pasa con los psíquicos que dicen convocar al difunto y obtener información verdadera y útil de ellos? Nuevamente, es crucial recordar que el objetivo de los demonios es engañar. Si el resultado es que las personas confían en un psíquico en lugar de Dios, un demonio estará más que dispuesto a revelar información verdadera. Incluso la información buena y verdadera, si proviene de una fuente con motivos malvados, puede usarse para engañar, corromper y destruir.

El término de la Nueva Era para estos espíritus son "energías positivas" o "buenos espíritus" y si los encuentros son severos lo llaman "energías negativas" o "energías oscuras" o "malos espíritus". En casos extremos, dirían que es una "entidad oscura" o un "demonio".

Se cree que estas energías son los espíritus de los muertos que están atrapados en el limbo, sin cruzarse a la luz. Se dice que estos espíritus permanecen en su casa o propiedad pasada o incluso se unen a un miembro de la familia. Esto se llama embrujado. Estos espíritus que acechan alrededor de las propiedades son, de hecho, demonios que toman las personalidades de una persona muerta, pero no son la persona muerta en sí.

Aunque lo embrujado es real, no hay limbo como lo están enseñando los de la Nueva Era y no hay purgatorio como lo enseña la Iglesia Católica. El alma de una persona va directamente al cielo o al infierno después de la muerte, sin regresar. Las almas de los muertos se encuentran dentro del confinamiento de la eternidad y su juicio, Hebreos 9:27; están limitados por las leyes de su destino (Lucas 16: 20-31).

Una de las escrituras más profundas sobre esto se encuentra en: Job 7: 9, “Como la nube se consume y se desvanece: así el que desciende a la tumba no volverá más. Job 7:10: "No volverá más a su casa, ni su lugar lo conocerá más". También en Eclesiastés 9: 5, “Porque los vivos saben que morirán; pero los muertos no saben nada, ni tienen ya una recompensa; porque el recuerdo de ellos se olvida. También su amor, y su odio, y su envidia, ahora perecieron; tampoco tienen una porción para siempre en nada que se haga bajo el sol".

Los fantasmas son demonios que se hacen pasar por personas muertas. Satanás y sus seguidores son mentirosos, con la intención de difundir la confusión, el miedo y la desconfianza de Dios. Si pueden convencer a los médiums, como la mujer de Endor (I Samuel 28), de que realmente se comunican con los muertos, esos demonios pueden alejar a muchos de Dios: “... para que Satanás no nos burle. Porque no desconocemos sus planes. (II Corintios 2:11)

La Biblia nos dice que existe un reino espiritual, invisible para los ojos humanos. Está poblado por Dios y sus ángeles, Satanás y sus ángeles caídos o demonios. A pesar de las afirmaciones de los no creyentes, no hay fantasmas deambulando por la tierra. Los espíritus de los humanos fallecidos habitan uno de dos lugares: el cielo o el infierno.

 

THE TRUTH ABOUT GHOSTS

“There shall not be found among you … one that useth divination, a soothsayer, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or one that consulteth a ghost or a familiar spirit, or a necromancer. For whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto the LORD” (Deut.18:10-12).

Is there such a thing as ghosts? The answer to this question depends on what is meant by the term “ghosts.” If the term means “spirit beings,” the answer is “yes.” If the term means “spirits of people who have died,” the answer is “no.” The Bible makes it clear that there are spirit beings, both good and evil. But the Bible negates the idea that the spirits of deceased human beings can remain on earth and “haunt” the living. Hebrews 9:27 declares, “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” That is what happens to a person’s soul-spirit after death—judgment. The result of this judgment is heaven for the believer (II Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23) and hell for the unbeliever (Matthew 25:46; Luke 16:22-24). There is no in-between. There is no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form as a “ghost.”

Biblical evidence show, there is no spirit of the dead roaming about the earth in spirit form. No one returns to earth and makes appearances after death. Jesus made this fact quite clear in Luke 16:26. In the passage a rich man who wanted a chance to return to earth from Hell and warn his brothers, however, Abraham tells him: “And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.” The simple fact is that our loved ones are not going to return as apparitions in our homes after they pass. They have moved on completely. If there are such things as ghosts, according to the Bible, they are not the disembodied spirits of deceased human beings. While angels and demons can roam our earth, God is not going to allow a deceased loved one to come back into this world.

The Bible teaches very clearly that there are indeed spirit beings that can connect with and appear in our physical world. Spirits are often discussed throughout scripture. The Bible identifies these beings as angels and demons. Angels are spirit beings who are faithful in serving God. Angels are righteous, good, and holy. Demons are fallen angels, angels who rebelled against God. Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive. According to II Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.”

Interest in the paranormal is becoming increasingly common. Human beings are innately aware of the spiritual world. Sadly, instead of seeking the truth about the spirit world by communing with God and studying His Word, many people allow themselves to be led astray by the spirit world. Satan takes advantage of people’s ignorance in order to victimize them. Ghosts use their spiritual strength to harm humanity. In current times there is a predominance of demons affecting mankind. All ghosts and demons are controlled by Satan.

Satan runs a parallel government against God, which is known as the “kingdom of darkness” (Colossians 1:13). Even though Satan is wise, he is not the Omniscient that God is. Therefore, he counterfeits everything in the kingdom of God in order to deceive the saints into false worship.

Ghosts are demon spirits who are familiar with a particular environment or family. Because they have been in that family or environment far longer than even the humans, they are familiar with the history of the family and the environment as well, and so are able to mimic the person(s) they disguise/masquerade as. Do not be ignorant of Satan’s devices nor allow yourself to be taken in by his lies. “People are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).

Ghosts can take up any form. These forms can however change, depending on what the ghost is trying to achieve. For example, if the ghost is trying to intimidate, it will take up an intimidating form, whereas if it is trying to fool a spiritual person it may take a form of an angel. They can also take the form of our departed ancestors thus misleading psychics and the people who come to psychics to enquire about departed relatives. This is true in almost all cases. Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating a deceased human being definitely seem to be within the power and abilities that demons possess.

What about instances in which “ghosts” act in “positive” ways? What about psychics who claim to summon the deceased and gain true and useful information from them? Again, it is crucial to remember that the goal of demons is to deceive. If the result is that people trust in a psychic instead of God, a demon will be more than willing to reveal true information. Even good and true information, if from a source with evil motives, can be used to mislead, corrupt, and destroy.

The New Age term for these spirits is "positive energies" or "good spirits" and if the encounters are severe they call it a "negative energies" or "dark energies" or "bad spirits". In extreme cases, they would say it's a "dark entity" or a "demon." 

These energies are thought to be the spirits of the dead who are trapped in limbo, not having a crossover into the light. These spirits are said to linger in their past house or property or even attached themselves to a family member. This is called Haunted. These spirits lurking around properties are in fact Demons taking up the personalities of a dead person but are not the actual dead person themselves.

Though haunting is real, there is no limbo as the New Agers are teaching and there is no purgatory as the Catholic Church teaches. The soul of a person goes straight to heaven or hell after death, no coming back. The souls of the dead are set within the confine of eternity and their judgment, Hebrews 9:27; they are constrained by the laws of their destination, (Luke 16:20-31).

One of the most profound scripture on this is found in Job 7:9, “As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. Job 7:10, “He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him anymore.” Also in Ecclesiastes 9:5, “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in anything that is done under the sun.” 

Ghosts are demons posing as dead people. Satan and his followers are liars, intent on spreading confusion, fear, and distrust of God. If they can convince mediums, like the witch of Endor (I Samuel 28), that they actually communicate with the dead, those demons can lure many away from God: “…in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” (II Corinthians 2:11)

The Bible tells us that a spiritual realm does exist, invisible to human eyes. It is populated by God and his angels, Satan, and his fallen angels, or demons. Despite the claims of unbelievers, there are no ghosts wandering about the earth. The spirits of deceased humans inhabit one of two places: heaven or hell.

 

EL AGOTAMIENTO Y ESTRÉS EN EL PASTORADO

II Corintios 7:5-7; Salmos 9:9-10, 18:1-2 

El agotamiento puede hacer que renuncies a algo con lo que has estado apasionadamente comprometido

El agotamiento generalmente no se encuentra en personas perezosas. Los pastores que sufren agotamiento suelen ser siervos de Dios decididos, comprometidos, altruistas y un tanto idealistas. El agotamiento a menudo golpea a ministros que creen, se comprometen y sirven con todo su corazón, en el área hacia la que creen que Dios ha dirigido su compromiso y participación.

El agotamiento puede conducir a la depresión, el desánimo, el aislamiento, la fatiga crónica, la paranoia, volverse crítico y crítico de los demás, complejo de mártir, rechazo, complejo de mesías y falta de inspiración en su enseñanza o predicación. No han dejado de funcionar por completo, pero han perdido el entusiasmo para el ministerio; ellos cumplen con todos sus deberes y responsabilidades día tras día, pero con poca alegría, y con capacidad muy reducida para un servicio efectivo. No puede escapar a las crisis en el pastorado. Pero usted no tiene que ser una víctima.

Gran parte del problema proviene del hecho de que la mayoría de los pastores son, por naturaleza, idealistas. Usted espera demasiado de usted mismo, y de su congregación. Su congregación, a la vez, hace demandas enormes de usted. Por consiguiente, el pastorado a veces puede ser tortuoso.

La congregación son los críticos más duros del pastor. Los miembros  miran a su pastor como una especie de padre ideal, todo-sabio, omnisciente, un líder, solucionista de problema, trabajador incansable y un ejemplo perfecto. Nadie puede medir a la altura de dichas estándares. El problema con muchos pastores es que ellos tratan de ser todo lo que la congregación espera. Y la parte loca es que sería mucho más simple y más eficaz para ayudar su congregación verlo como un ser humano. Muchos pastores se dejan caer en un círculo vicioso. Ellos tratan de ser perfectos. Finalmente se sienten que ya no son tan efectivos como antes y se atemorizan. La congregación siente este temor.

Es un hecho comprobado que el miedo alimenta el estrés. Gastamos una tremenda cantidad de energía reprimiendo nuestro temor, escudándonos. ¿Qué teme usted, el rechazo, desilusionar a la gente, ser vulnerable, Ser impotente? Tememos la confrontación, el fracaso, ser herido, etc. Es natural preocuparse de estas cosas. Pero cuando los dejamos tomar el control, esto trae el estrés. Para un pastor, este estrés puede hacer que sea extremadamente difícil de tratar con eficacia a cualquier crisis, en casa o con la iglesia.

Hay pastores que temen a la crítica, son tan temerosos de no ser necesitados, que se sobrecargan para mantenerse ocupados. Aún tienen temor de delegar cualquier responsabilidad. Piensan que van a perder su autoridad. Incluso podrían negarse el tiempo de vacaciones por temor que la iglesia pueda descubrir que puede funcionar sin ellos.

El agotamiento, es “la enfermedad del sobre comprometido,” viene como el resultado del estrés crónico. Cada Pastor tiene un nivel de estrés diferente; es un punto donde el estrés se vuelve perjudicial. El secreto es reconocer las señales del estrés. Cada pastor debería encontrar su nivel de estrés, y cuando sientes que estás cerca de ello, has un alto y cambia de paso. ¿Cómo puede saber cuándo se ha metido “sobre su nivel”? Estas son algunas señales comunes:

1. Su cuerpo comienza a rechazar nueva información. Usted no oye mucho de lo que se le dice, y no se recuerda mucho de lo que oyes. Usted está sobrecargado.

 

2. Pérdida de opciones. Su horizonte mental se le cierra; usted tiene el problema viendo opciones alternativas de acción.

 

3. El insomnio la incapacidad crónica de dormir.

 

4. Inhabilidad de cambiar modelos dañosos. Cuando usted está bajo el estrés por demasiados cambios, puede parecer demasiado complicado para decir “no” a demandas adicionales. Usted encuentra que es más fácil simplemente amontonarse más compromisos.  

 

5. La fatiga. Cuando está bajo mucho estrés, su cuerpo pide más descanso y sueño más de lo normal. ¡Cede y descanse!

6. La depresión. Esto es normalmente relacionado con el cambio o la pérdida de alguien o algo cercano a usted sin tomarse el tiempo para lamentar su pérdida. El estrés puede precipitar la depresión.

 

7. La enfermedad física. El Estrés altera todo tu sistema glandular, le sube la presión de la sangre, y mantiene los sistemas del cuerpo en un estado de lucha / huida de tensión.  Este estado constante de desorden le hace vulnerable a todo desde catarros y dolores musculares a úlceras, infartos y enfermedades cardiovasculares.

El estrés es un estado del agotamiento físico, emocional y mental que se caracteriza por la depreciación física y fatiga crónica, los sentimientos de impotencia y desesperación, y por el desarrollo de un auto concepto negativo y actitudes negativas hacia el trabajo, la vida y otra gente. Algunas señales del agotamiento son:

1. La  energía disminuida. El mantener su paso de antes se hace cada vez más difícil.

 

2. Los sentimientos de fracaso en su llamado como pastor.

 

3. El insomnio. La incapacidad crónica de dormir.

 

4. El sentido reducido de recompensa a cambio por invertir tanto de usted mismo en el trabajo o en un proyecto.

5. El sentido de impotencia y la inhabilidad de ver una salida de problemas.

6. El cinismo y la negatividad de usted mismo, otros, el trabajo y el mundo en general.

LAS CUATRO ETAPAS QUE CONDUCE AL AGOTAMIENTO

1. El Entusiasmo

 

2. El Estancamiento

 

3. La Frustración

 

    Un sentido de ser inadecuado de llevar a cabo lo que necesita ser hecho, y las dudas sobre si vale la pena o no todo el esfuerzo. Esta etapa puede ser un punto decisivo. Puedes ascender nuevamente al entusiasmo y eficacia nueva o descender a la cuarta etapa.

 

4. La apatía y la indiferencia crónica que caracterizan el agotamiento completo.

COMO TRATAR CON EL ESTRÉS

1. Aprenda A Planear

 

    Demasiados proyectos en marcha simultáneamente conducen a la confusión, el olvido y la sensación persistente de las tareas no completadas. Ponga sus deberes en la orden de prioridad. Entonces tome sólo una o dos proyectos a la vez y trabaja en ellos hasta terminarlos.  

 

2. Acepte Sus Limitaciones

 

El pastor nunca podrá ser perfecto, entienda esto, y acéptelo. Si no terminarás sintiéndose inadecuado, no importa lo bien que usted realice. Sólo establezca metas alcanzables para usted.   

 

3. Enfrentando Temores

 

    Los temores no desaparecen; simplemente se cargan más sobre nosotros. Cuando usted enfrenta sus temores, usted esa en el camino para librarse de la carga. Pero admitir el temor es difícil para algunos pastores, simplemente porque se supone de alguna manera que pastores son “sobre todo esto.”

 

4. Diviértase

 

     No es un pecado que usted se divierta. Todos, incluyendo el pastor necesita escapar las presiones del trabajo y relajarse y divertirse. La risa tiene tremendos poderes sanadores. Tome tiempo para reír.

 

5. Tenga Una Actitud Positiva Hacia Las Personas Y La Vida

 

     Trate de evitar criticar a otros. En cambio, elógielos. Enfóquese en sus características buenas. Le volverán el favor.

 

6. Practiqué El Perdón Y La Tolerancia

 

  Cuando tratamos realmente de comprender la manera que otros se sienten podemos ser más comprensivos con ellos. Cuando somos intolerantes, nosotros solos alimentamos nuestra propia frustración y enojo.

 

7. No Compita Cuando Usted No Tienes Que

 

    La vida está lleno de situaciones competitivas ineludibles. No le agregué más.

 

8. Ejercicio

 

     Incluso una caminata diaria es de gran ayuda.

 

9. Tomarse Un Tiempo Para Usted

 

    Escuche música o tome una siesta. Vaya fuera y mire la naturaleza.

 

10. Encuentre Una Persona A Quien Ud. LE Pueda Abrir Su Corazón

 

   Expresando todas las tensiones reprimidos puede ser increíblemente provechoso. La familia es nuestro sistema de apoyo primario. Hable con su esposa, hable con un colega  en el cual usted tiene la confianza. Un pastor necesita a un pastor, también, para proporcionar la fuerza y nutrir.

 

11. Busque Nuevas Disciplinas Espirituales

 

     Busca una  manera nueva de orar, un enfoque nuevo a la lectura de las Escrituras, meditación diaria, retiros personales y tiempo para contemplar en silencio.

Ud. se puede levantar de las cenizas del agotamiento, pero, se toma tiempo. Primero de todo, Ud. necesita descansar y relajar. No lleve su trabajo a la casa. Si Ud. es como la mayoría de los pastores, el trabajo no se hace y después Ud. se sentirá culpable por ser perezoso.

Al vencer el agotamiento, sea realista en sus aspiraciones, y metas del trabajo. Quien sea la persona con que Ud. está tratando y hablando de sus sentimientos puede ayudarle, pero tengan cuidado. Sus aspiraciones y metas de reajuste deben ser las tuyas y no de esa persona. El intentar de ser y hacer lo que alguien mas quisiera que seas o fueras es una fórmula de seguro para la frustración y el agotamiento continuo.

Un último consejo, haga un balance en su vida. Invierta más de su vida con su familia y otros lazos personales, actividades sociales y pasatiempos. Reparta su tiempo y su persona de modo que su trabajo no tenga una fuerte influencia en su autoestima y confianza en sí mismo.

DIFERENCIAS DE ESTRÉS Y AGOTAMIENTO:

1. El agotamiento es una defensa caracterizada por el desánimo. El estrés se caracteriza por un compromiso excesivo.

2. En agotamiento, las emociones se vuelven hiperactivas. En el estrés, el daño físico es primario.

3. El agotamiento afecta la motivación y el impulso. El agotamiento del estrés afecta la energía física.

4. El agotamiento es desmoralización. El estrés se puede entender mejor como una pérdida de combustible y energía.

5. La depresión del agotamiento es causada por el dolor engendrado por la pérdida de ideales y esperanza. La depresión del estrés se produce por la necesidad del organismo de protegerse y conservar energía.

6. El agotamiento produce una sensación de impotencia y desesperanza. El estrés produce paranoia, despersonalización, desapego, pánico, fobias y trastornos de tipo ansiedad.

7. Es posible que el agotamiento nunca te mate, pero puede que parezca que no vale la pena vivir tu vida, pero el estrés puede matarte prematuramente y no tendrás tiempo suficiente para terminar lo que has comenzado.
