CUIDADO

“Velad y orad, para que no entréis en tentación…” (Mateo 26:41)

La Palabra de Dios nos dice que el diablo “viene pare hurtar y matar y destruir” (Juan 10:10).  A Satanás le gusta cuando hacemos cosas innecesarias, imprudentes, inoportunas y ridículas. El quiere engañarnos y hacernos cree que tales impulsos vienen de Dios. No hay un caso en la Biblia donde Dios llevó a una persona hacer una cosa extraña. ¡Convoque a éstos impulsos antes un tribunal de examen!  La Palabra de Dios nos dice claramente “probad los espíritus si son de Dios” (I Juan 4:1). ¿Pero cómo podemos hacer esto?

TENGA CUIDADO CON SUS SENTIMIENTOS

Muchos han seguido sus sentimientos en vez de sus convicciones. Muchas personas no hacen ciertas cosas porque no sienten hacerlo. Cuando usted permite que sea dirigido por sus sentimientos, es como permitir un niño que lo juzga.

TENGA CUIDADO CON SUS IMAGINACIONES

Todos poseemos el poder de la imaginación. El diablo le gusta usarlo. Él estirará su ilusión sobre ello. Aquí está una ilusión favorita del diablo. Una persona tendrá una impresión que él debería tener cierto nombramiento deseable. Él está completamente seguro que él lo merece; y que él es el mejor calificado para ello que alguien más; y que la vida será sin valor si él no lo recibe.

Tal persona vivirá en la excitación de su nombramiento pendiente hasta que él babea con suspensa y la perspectiva de ventajas inmediatas que él está seguro debe ser de él. Entonces el globo se revienta. La decepción es casi una enfermedad. Hay tanto dolor incontrolable que borda a un colapso nervioso. Satán le ha jugado una broma cruel.

TENGA CUIDADO CON LOS SUEÑOS

Dios ha hablado a personas por sueños. Este era mucho más evidente antes que el Espíritu Santo fue dado. Un sueño puede ser de Dios, o esto puede ser el resultado de un malestar estomacal. La Biblia habla “de sueños falsos” y “soñadores que mancillan la carne,” y se queja de aquellos que hacen que la gente se olvide de Dios por “sus sueños” (Jeremías 23:27).

No atribuya de prisa cosas a Dios. No suponga fácilmente que sueños, voces, impresiones, visiones, o revelaciones son de Dios. Pueden ser de Él, o puede ser de la naturaleza. Estos también pueden ser del diablo. Por lo tanto no crea a todo espíritu, pero "probad los espíritus si son de Dios.”

TENGA CUIDADO CON SUS IMPULSOS

Recuerde esto; Dios nunca mete prisa a la gente para hacer cosas dudosas. El diablo hace esto. ¡Él siempre  le dirá, hágalo ahora! Los malos impulsos han dado lugar a que muchos alucinando de decepción, vergüenza, malos matrimonios, hogares rotos y midas destrozadas, ¡Tome su tiempo! ¡Pruébelo! Si usted tiene una duda sobre algo, no lo haga. Esto es lo que le pasó a Pedro cuando él sacó su espada en el jardín.

TENGA CUIDADO CON SUS PREJUICIOS E IDEAS PRECONCEBIDOS

Este es una forma de la sordera espiritual. Nos convertimos en los sordos. Dios tuvo que hablarle dos veces a Pedro. No era fácil convencerlo que el evangelio debería ser predicado a los gentiles. Pedro fue dado una visión y tuvo que ser repetida antes de que él entendiera. Dios siempre tiene que tratar con el prejuicio en nuestros corazones. Estos dos jueces; los prejuicios y las ideas preconcebidas, siempre interpretar mensajes de acuerdo con sus propias opiniones. Ellos son ladrones. Ellos obstaculizan vidas, dificultan el éxito y han engañado a muchas personas.

TENGA CUIDADO CON LA CARNE

El cuerpo a menudo pide la satisfacción excesiva y gratificación ilegal. Su apetito puede tomar control de usted. ¡Su cuerpo va a exigir un trato especial! (Gálatas 5:17). La carne debe mantenerse bajo control. No hay ninguna otra manera. Es similar a la hierba. Es una batalla constante, pero la cosecha depende de mantener bajo control las hierbas.

TENGA CUIDADO CON SEÑALES

Satán es un falsificador. Estoy asombrado en las supersticiones entre la gente. Ellos están orientados a la mala o buena suerte en lugar de la providencia de Dios. Ellos están listos para culpar a todo. Dios quiere liberarnos de estos grilletes.

TENGA CUIDADO CON ACONTECIMIENTOS ACCIDENTALES

A menudo somos tentados a poner ciertas decisiones a pruebas erróneas, por ejemplo, en si sale el sol claro al día siguiente o si el día está nublado. Eso es “juego de azar religioso.” Usted podría lanzar una moneda, y reducir a Dios a cara o cruz. Un juez que lanzara una moneda para decidir un caso, en vez de pesar las pruebas y determinar la verdad así, sería pensado insano. Aún algunas personas manipulan sus vidas en esta manera tonta.

¡Recuerde! Las pruebas de Dios, de ser puestas en duda mil veces, siempre responden con la misma respuesta. Usted no se arriesga cuando hace las cosas de la manera de Dios. Cuando usted se arriesga empequeñece la razón, cría la ignorancia, ofrece incienso a un dios falso, deja perpleja la conciencia, complace al diablo y entristece al Espíritu Santo.

Éstos son los dispositivos usados por “el mundo, la carne y el diablo” para engañar a la gente y atraerlos a la destrucción. Ellos son escollos sutiles y no fácilmente descubiertos. Tenemos que hacerlo en esta vida a pesar de ellos. Con Dios todas las cosas son posibles. Él nos ha prometido la victoria, porque Él nos ha dado poder sobre el diablo.

BEWARE

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation…” (Matthew 26:41)

The Word of God tells us that the devil “cometh not, but to for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). Satan would like you to do needless, unwise, untimely and ridiculous things. He wants to deceive you and make you believe that such promptings are from God. There is not one instance in the Bible where God led a person to do a strange thing. Summon these promptings before a court of examination! The Word of God tells us plainly “Try the spirits whether they be of God” (I John 4:1). But how do we do this?

WATCH YOUR FEELINGS

Many people follow their feelings instead of their convictions. Too many don’t do things because they do not feel like it. When you allow yourself to be led by your feelings, it is like allowing yourself to be judged by a child.

WATCH YOU IMAGINATIONS

We all possess the power of fancy. The devil loves to use it. He will stretch his illusion upon it. Here is a favorite illusion of the devil. A person will have an impression that he ought to have a certain desirable appointment. He is quite sure he deserves it; and that he is better qualified for it than anyone else; and that life will be worthless if he does not receive it.

Such a person will live in the excitement of their pending appointment until he drools with the suspense and the prospect of immediate advantages that he feels sure must be theirs. Then the bubble bursts. The letdown is almost a sickness. There is such uncontrollable grief that it verges on a nervous breakdown. Satan has played a cruel trick on you.

WATCH YOUR DREAMS

God has spoken to people through dreams. This was much more evident before the Holy Spirit was given. A dream may be of God, or it may be the result of an upset stomach. The Bible speaks of “false dreams” and “filthy dreamers,” and complains of those who cause the people to forget God by “their dreams”. (Jeremiah 23:27).

Do not hastily attribute things to God. Don’t easily suppose dreams, voices, impressions, visions, or revelations to be from God. They may be from Him. They may be from nature. They may be from the devil. Therefore believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are from God.”

WATCH YOUR IMPULSES

Remember this; God never hurries people to do doubtful things. The devil does. Wrong impulses have lead to many letdowns of disappointment, disgrace, wrong marriages, broken homes and shattered lives.  That is what happened to Peter when he drew his sword in the garden. Take your time! Test it! If you have a doubt about it, don’t do it.

WATCH YOUR PREJUDICES AND PRECONCEIVED IDEAS

This is a form of spiritual deafness. God had to speak very loudly to Peter. It was not easy to convince him that the gospel should be preached to the gentiles. God always has to deal with prejudice in our hearts. These two judges; prejudice and preconceived ideas, always interpret messages according to their own views. They are thieves. They hinder our lives. They hinder success. They have misled millions.

WATCH THE FLESH

The body often clamors for excessive and unlawful gratification. Appetite can run away with you. Your body will demand special treatment! (Galatians 5:17). The flesh must be “kept under control.” There is no other way. It is similar to weeds. It is a constant battle, but the harvest depends upon keeping the weeds under control.

WATCH SIGNS

Satan is a counterfeiter. I am amazed at the superstitions among people. They are still geared to bad or good luck rather than the providences of God. They are ready to blame everything. God wants to free us from these shackles.

WATCH CHANCE HAPPENINGS

We are often tempted to put certain decisions to erroneous tests to rest a decision, for instance, on whether the sun rises clear the next day or whether the day is cloudy. That is “religious gambling.” You might as well toss a coin, and reduce God to heads or tails. A judge who would toss a coin to decide a case, instead of weighing the evidence and determining the truth thereby, would be thought insane. Yet some people tamper with their lives in this foolish manner.

Remember! God’s tests, if questioned a thousand times, always respond with the same reply. You don’t take a chance when you go God’s way. When you gamble you dwarf reason, foster ignorance, offer incense to a false god, perplex the conscience, please the devil and grieve the Holy Spirit.

These are the devices used by “the world, the flesh and the devil” to mislead people and lure them to destruction. They are subtle pitfalls and not easily detected. We must make it through this life in spite of them. With God all things are possible. He has promised us victory, because He has given us power over the devil.

COMO SE PUEDE SABER SI ES LA VOZ DE DIOS

“Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen…” (Juan 10:27)

“DIOS, habiendo hablado muchas veces y en muchas maneras en otro tiempo á los padres por los profetas, En estos postreros días nos ha hablado por el Hijo…” (Hebreos 1:1-2)

Satanás en muchas veces intenta de confundirnos después de que hemos orado. ¿Cuándo Ud. escucha para oír la voz de Dios, le hace parecer que Ud. oye dos voces? ¿Cómo puede saber Ud. si es Dios o Satanás? Sabemos por la experiencia de la tentación de Jesús que Satanás tratará muchos trucos para convencernos a escuchar su voz en lugar de la de Dios (Mat. 4:1-11). El apóstol Pedro nos advirtió que el diablo espera siempre, buscando el momento oportuno para instilar miedo y confusión (I Pd. 5:8). Debemos estar prevenidos siempre para estar seguros que la voz que oímos cuando oramos y escuchamos por la respuesta de Dios es, en verdad la voz de Dios.

Jesús les dijo a Sus discípulos que Él tenía que ir a Jerusalén y sufrir muchas cosas de las autoridades allí. Eventualmente, lo iban a matar, pero que al tercer día él iba a resucitar (Mat. 16:21). Pedro le dijo a Jesús, “Señor, ten compasión de ti; en ninguna manera esto te acontezca” (16:22). Por tan bienintencionado como Pedro hubiera pensado que él era, sus palabras no eran de Dios, eran palabras que estaban de acuerdo con el mensaje de Satanás. Jesús reprendió Pedro, diciendo, “¡Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás!; me eres tropiezo, porque no pones la mira en las cosas de Dios, sino en las de los hombres” (16:23).

Se le comparo a Satanás a Pedro. Necesitamos reconocer que a veces la voz de Satanás viene a nosotros no en nuestros pensamientos e imaginaciones, pero por las palabras de otras personas, algunos de quien parecería estar bien intencionado o nos dicen que nos aman. La Biblia nos asegura que hay una manera de distinguir la voz de Dios de la de Satanás. Oiremos algunas diferencias distintas en los mensajes.

SATANAS DICE…                                           

1. Haga lo que Ud. quiere hacer.                         

2. Viva por el momento.                                

3. No te preocupes de lo que otros dicen.           

4. Ud. ya está muy maduro.                           

DIOS DICE…

1. Considere los efectos de su conducta en otros.

2. Viva con un ojo a la eternidad.

3. Reciba consejo piadoso.

4. Continué creciendo y madurando para ser como Cristo.

Cuando seguimos la voz y mensaje de Satanás en lugar de la de Dios, el resultado siempre lleva a pérdida, destrucción y muerte. El camino de Dios siempre conduce a la vida abundante y vida eterna (Jn. 10:10).Parte de la diferencia está en la manera que nos sentimos de nuestras vidas y acciones. El resultado de seguir la voz de Satanás es la frustración, desmayo y preocupación. El resultado de seguir la voz de Dios es una gran paz en nuestro espíritu.

Dios ve a todas personas y el impacto completo de lo que decimos y hacemos en otros, ambos esos que conocemos y están cercas de nosotros y esos que no conocemos. El nunca nos piedra que exhibamos conducta ofensiva o mala; Él nunca nos llevará hacer cualquier cosa que puede herir a otra persona; emocionalmente, espiritualmente o materialmente. Satanás, en cambio, nos dice lo que queremos oír. El nos dice que no nos debemos preocuparnos de los efectos de nuestras vidas en otros. En nos dice que cada persona es una isla hacia el mismo y que deberíamos hacer lo que nos gusta.

Si Abraham hubiera pesado las ramificaciones posibles de su trato con Agar, él hubiera resistido la suplicas de Sara de tener un niño con su criada (Gen. 16-17; 21). Si David hubiera pensado de la severidad de la disciplina de Dios sobre su numeración de Israel, él hubiera escuchado el consejo de Joab (I Cro. 21). Si Ud. siente que Dios lo está conduciendo en una dirección particular, pregúntese, “¿Cómo afectaría esto a las personas alrededor de mi?¿Se herirá alguien por lo que voy a decir o hacer?¿Serán bendecidos otros?¿Será esta bendición solamente para mi?¿Quien puede beneficiar por lo que estoy para hacer? Estas preguntas pueden ayudarle desyerbar la influencia de Satanás y para que  pueda oír la voz de Dios (Rom. 14:21; I Tes. 5:15; I Tim. 6:18-19).

Muchas Escrituras mencionan el “cumplimiento del tiempo.” Dios no va de prisa. Él trata en consecuencias eternas y Él continuamente busca el cumplimiento total de Su plan y propósito. Satanás siempre nos anima actuar inmediatamente porque él sabe que si nos detenemos un poco y pensamos el asunto vamos a cambiar de opinión. Si siente un impulso irresistible a actuar espontáneamente e inmediatamente, es probablemente mejor esperarse y orar sobre el asunto. Dios tiene interés en tener todo los detalles en sus lugares apropiados.

El Rey Saúl perdió su trono porque actuó apresuradamente. Fue instruido por el profeta Samuel que esperara en Gilgal por siete días. Cuando Samuel no llegó en el séptimo día, Saúl decidió hacer algo. Preparo la ofrenda para presentarla a Dios. En cuanto Saúl había presentado la ofrenda, llegó Samuel. Saúl dio sus excusas, pero su prisa lo descalificó de un reino largo y pacífico. Adelantarse a Dios es un equivocación terrible y las consecuencias siempre son desagradables (I Sam. 10:8; 13:8-14). Nehemías, pacientemente espero en Dios. El busco al Señor, en ayuno y oración, por cuatro meses hasta que el rey le preguntó porqué estaba triste. El le explicó su preocupación sobre la devastación de Jerusalén y, dentro de unos cuantos días, el rey lo envió a Jerusalén con autoridad y todo lo que se necesitaba para reconstruir la ciudad (Nem. 1-2:9). No es fácil esperar pacientemente ante Dios para estar seguro que tienes voluntad. ¡Pero cuanto mas satisfactorio son los resultados cuando Ud. sabe que ha oído la voz de Dios (Sal. 62:5; Stg. 5:7-8; Lc. 14:28-30).

Los jóvenes rebeldes a menudo le dicen a sus mayores, “¡No mi diga que haga! ¡Yo soy un adulto también!”Ésa es la actitud de muchas personas hacia la voz de Dios. Es una actitud de orgullo, basado en una suposición que sabemos mucho sobre cualquier situación como Dios. Finalmente, Dios nos habla en términos de nuestra entrega a Sus deseos. Sus mensajes a nosotros no son sobre lo que queremos, que normalmente es limitado, egocéntrico, de miras estrechas y corto de vista. Más bien, Sus mensajes son sobre lo que Él quiere para nosotros, que siempre es eterno y amoroso y nos llaman a una manera más alta y mejor. Los mensajes de Dios tratan con nuestra entrega a Él, en tomar nuestra cruz y siguiere le, de entregar nuestras vidas para otros, de llevar la carga del uno del otro, de alentarnos el uno al otro y edificarnos el uno al otro, de nuestro comportamiento de modo que cause que otros caminen en rectitud ante Dios.

Satanás viene a nosotros y nos dice que somos sabios en nuestro propio entendimiento para hacer decisiones. Esto ha sido la tentación para el hombre desde el Jardín de Edén, simplemente come de la fruta y serás sabios como dioses. En nuestro día, la mentira puede ser, “Solo sigue su sentido común.” Esto puede ser bueno hacer, pero erramos si ponemos nuestra confianza solamente en nuestros propios esfuerzos y dejamos la sabiduría de Dios. El resultado sería tan desastroso para nosotros como fue para Adán y Eva. Nos encontramos en problemas siempre cuando presumimos que podemos hacer decisiones totalmente de nosotros mismos (I Pd. 2:2-3; Ef. 4:14-15. II Pd. 3:17-18).

El resultado claro de oír la voz de Satanás es una preocupación, sentimientos penosos de frustración en su espíritu. Si Ud. cree que ha oído la voz de Dios, y todavía continúa experimentando un sentimiento de inquietud e interrogación mientras Ud. intenta de obedecer la voz que ha oído, detente y tome nota. ¡No ha oído la voz de Dios! La voz de Dios trae una calma profunda en nuestro espíritu. Aunque seamos desafiados por lo que Dios nos dice que hagamos, no tendremos un sentido de conflicto interno, preocupación, o un corazón inquieto. La paz que Dios nos da es la que el apóstol Pablo describe como paz “Que sobrepasa todo entendimiento (Fil. 4:7). Esta es la paz que viene con un corazón seguro. No se agita esta paz interna, es indiferente a cualquiera circunstancia. Cuando este tipo de paz viene a nosotros, sabemos que hemos escuchado la voz de Dios y nos sentimos seguros (Col. 3:15).

Algunas personas tienen conciencias muertas y no les molesta nada cuando han hecho una decisión mala. No sentiré nada es un estado muy peligroso de encontrarse. Después de que ha intentado de oír la voz de Dios y ha llegado a una decisión sobre algo en su vida, se va sentir de una manera u otra de su decisión. Tendrá un sentido permanente de calma, propósito, y paz o se sentirá intranquilo, descontento, frustrado, angustiado o incomodo. Preste atención a estos sentimientos que vienen de su más íntimo. Es una señal confirmatoria a Ud. que ha o no ha oído la voz de Dios.

APROVECHE DEL CONSEJO SABIO

El libro de Proverbios tiene mucho que decir sobre el valor del consejo sabio (13:10, 20:5). Debemos buscar consejo piadoso y escuchar las personas que en verdad aman a Dios y están firmemente fundados en la Palabra de Dios. Cuando busca consejo, busca alguien que también puede ayudarle espiritualmente y que no tiene motivos ocultos (Isa. 45:20-21, I Pd. 5:5-6; Ef. 5:17-21).

HOW TO KNOW IF IT IS GOD’S VOICE

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…” (John 10:27)

“In the past God spoke to our ancestors many times and in many ways through the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son…” (Hebrews 1:1-2)

The Devil many times attempts to confuse us after we pray. When you listen for God to speak, does it seem that you hear two voices? How can you know if it is God or Satan? We know from Jesus’ temptation experience that Satan will try many tricks to convince us to listen to him instead of to God (Matt. 4:1-11). The apostle Peter warned us that the devil is always waiting, seeking to instill fear and confusion (I Pet. 5:8). We must be on the alert continually to make certain that the voice we hear as we pray and listen for God’s answer is, indeed, God’s voice.

Jesus told His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the authorities there. Eventually, He would be killed, but He would rise the third day (Matt. 16:21). Peter told Jesus, “Far be it from you, Lord; this shall not happen to you!” (16:22). As well intentioned as Peter may have thought he was, his words were not God’s words, they were words that lined up with Satan’s message. Jesus rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men” (16:23).

Peter was compared to Satan himself. We need to recognize that sometimes Satan’s voice comes to us not in our thoughts and imaginations, but through the words of other people, some of whom may seem to be well intentioned or say they love us. The Bible assures us that there is a way to tell God’s voice from that of Satan’s. We will hear some distinct differences in the messages.

3. Don’t concern yourself with what others say.       3. Receive godly advice.

4. You’re as mature as you ever need to be.               4. Continue to grow and mature to                                                                                                              become more like Jesus.

When we follow Satan’s voice and message rather than God’s, the outcome always leads to loss, destruction and death. God’s way always leads to abundant life and eternal life (Jn. 10:10). Part of the difference is in the way we feel about our lives and actions. The result of following Satan’s voice is frustration, disappointment and worry. The result of following God’s message is a great inner peace.

God sees all people and the full impact of what we say and do on others, both those we know and who are close to us and those we don’t know. He will never ask us to exhibit unkind or offensive behavior; He will never lead us to do anything that might hurt another person; emotionally, spiritually or materially. Satan, on the other hand, tells us what we want to hear. He tells us that we shouldn’t worry about the effects of our lives on others. He tells us that every person is an island unto himself and that we should do whatever we please.

Had Abraham weighed the possible consequence of his dealings with Hagar, he would have resisted Sarah’s pleas to have a child with her maid (Gen. 16-17; 21). Had David thought of the severity of God’s discipline over the numbering of his subjects in Israel and Judah, he probably would have listened to Joab’s advice (I Chro. 21). 

If you feel God is leading you in a particular direction, ask yourself: “How will this affect people around me? Will anybody be hurt by what I am about to do or say? Will others be blessed? Is this blessing just for me? Who may benefit from what I am about to undertake?” These questions can help you weed out Satan’s influence and hear God’s message (Rom. 14:21, I Thes. 5:15, I Tim. 6:18-19).

Many Scriptures mention the “fullness of time.” God isn’t in a hurry. He deals in eternal consequences and He continually seeks the fulfillment of the full extent of His plan and purpose. Satan always encourages us to act immediately because he knows if we back off and think long enough about most things, we’ll reconsider. If we feel an overwhelming urge to act spontaneously and immediately, we’re probably better off to wait and pray about it. God is interested in having all the details in their proper places.

King Saul lost his throne because he acted hastily. He was instructed by the prophet Samuel to wait at Gilgal for seven days. When Samuel hadn’t arrived on the seventh day, Saul decided to take matters into his own hands. He prepared burnt offerings to call upon God. As soon as Saul had made the offerings, Samuel arrived. Saul gave excuses, but his haste disqualified him from a long and peaceful reign. Getting ahead of God is a terrible mistake and the consequences are always distasteful (I Sam. 10:8; 13:8-14).

Nehemiah patiently waited for God’s timing. He sought the Lord, with fasting and prayer, for four months until the king asked him why his appearance was downcast. He explained his concern over the devastation of Jerusalem and within days, the king sent him to Jerusalem with full authority and all necessary supplies to rebuild the city (Neh. 1-2:9). It isn’t easy to wait patiently before God until you are sure that you His message. But how much more satisfying the results are when you know that you have heard God’s message! (Ps. 62:5, Jas. 5:7-8, Lk. 14:28-30).

Rebellious teens often say to their elders, “Don’t tell me what to do! I’m a grown-up, too!” That is the attitude of many people toward the voice of God. It is an attitude of pride, based on an assumption that we know as much about any given situation as God knows. Ultimately, God speaks to us in terms of our surrender to His desires. His messages to us aren’t about what we want, which is usually limited, self-centered, narrow-minded and shortsighted. Rather, His messages are about what He wants for us, which is always eternal and loving and calls us to a higher and better way. God’s messages are about our yielding to Him, our taking up the cross and following Him, our giving up our lives for others, our bearing one another’s burdens, our encouraging one another and building up one another, our behaving in a way that causes others to walk in righteousness before the Lord.

Satan comes to us and tells us that we are wise enough in our own understanding to make decisions. This has been the temptation to man since the Garden of Eden, just eat of the fruit and you will be wise as gods. In our day, the lie may be, “Just follow your common sense.” This may be good to do, but we err if we put our trust solely in our own efforts and fail to get the wisdom of God. The result is just as disastrous for us as it was for Adam and Eve. We find ourselves in trouble anytime we assume that we can make decisions totally on our own. (I Pet. 2:2-3, Eph. 4:14-15, II Pet. 3:17-18).

The clear result of hearing the voice of Satan is a worry, troublesome feeling of frustration in your spirit. If you believe you have heard from God, and yet you continue to experience a feeling of uneasiness and questioning as you attempt to obey the voice you have heard, stop and take note. You have not heard from God! God’s voice brings about a deep calmness in our spirit. Although we may be challenged by what God says for us to do, we will not have a sense of inner conflict, worry, or a troubled heart. The peace that God gives us is what the apostle Paul described as peace “Which surpasses all understanding” (Phil. 4:7). This is peace that comes with a settled heart. This inner peace is not shaken, regardless of circumstances. When that sort of peace comes to us, we know we’ve heard from God and we feel confident it is His voice: “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts” (Col. 3:15).

Some people have calloused consciences and don’t seem to feel anything in the wake of a bad decision. Not feeling anything is a bad state to be in! After you have attempted to hear from God and have reached a decision about something in your life, you will feel one way or the other about it. Either you will have an abiding sense of calm, purpose, and peace or you will feel uneasy, dissatisfied, out of sorts, frustrated, worried, or uncomfortable. Pay attention to this feeling that flows from your innermost being. It is a confirming sign to you that you have or have not heard from God. Over time, you will grow in your ability to discern whether the voice you are hearing is that of God. As you develop an ear to hear what God is saying to you, you will come to know His voice unmistakably and immediately.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF WISE COUNSEL

The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about the value of wise counsel (13:10, 20:5). We are to seek godly counsel and to hear from people who truly love the Lord and who are firmly grounded in His Word. When you seek counsel, look for someone who can also help you spiritually and has no hidden motives (Isa. 45:20-21, I Pet. 5:5-6, Eph. 5:17-21).

FORTALEZA EN EL TIEMPO DE LA CULPABILIDAD

“Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados, y limpiarnos de toda maldad.” (I Juan 1:9)

“Hermanos, yo mismo no pretendo haberlo ya alcanzado; pero una cosa hago: olvidando ciertamente lo que queda atrás, y extendiéndome a lo que está delante.” (Filipenses 3:13)

Muchas personas forman su concepto de Dios basado en el comportamiento de sus padres. Una persona quien yo estaba aconsejando me dijo que cuando él tenía nueve años su padre murió y cuando él murió, un poco de su concepto de Dios se estableció que en efecto decía, “Dios te ha dejado a ti también.” Su madre trabajaba y el pasaba muchas horas solo después que llegaba a la casa de la escuela. El llego a creer, “Que Dios siempre está en otro lugar con alguien más.” 

Para él, siendo un niño solitario, inseguro y ansioso, Dios era muy remoto. Vio a Dios como uno quien tenía autoridad, y en ese respecto, l era mucho como su padrastro, malo y abusivo.

Él había visto cómo Dios obraba, en la iglesia y en la vida de su abuelito hasta el punto que él tenía fe para creer en Dios. Él conocía las historias bíblicas bien para conocer de Jesús y lo que Él había hecho. Pero, aun todavía, Dios era un misterio, que él nunca en verdad sintió que era accesible a él. El tenía un sentir muy fuerte que él necesitaba ser mas santo para que Dios se acercarse más a él. Por mucho que lea la Biblia, él siempre sentía que necesitaba leer más. No importaba cuanto oraba, él siempre se sentía que no había orado lo suficiente. El se sienta seguro que Dios estaba guardando cuenta de cada aspecto de su vida. Y el resultado de todo esto era un sentido emocional pesado de culpabilidad.

Se Ud. se ha sentido o se siente de esta manera, no es único, muchos han tenido o están pasando por una experiencia similar en sus vidas. Ellos tratan de ser lo suficiente buenos para ganar la aprobación de Dios, hacen muchas obras buenas para que Dios los recompense, tratan de hacer suficiente buenas obras para deshacerse de ese sentir de culpabilidad que esta siempre sobre ellos que les dice que no están haciendo lo suficiente par Dios.

Muchos creen que después que han sido salvado, que todo sentir de culpabilidad es quitado completamente de sus vidas, pero esto no es verdad. El sentir de culpabilidad continuará manifestándose periódicamente. Esto no quiere decir que Ud. no es salvo. Lo que Ud. está encarando es lo que muchos tienen que encarar, que continuamos pecando, que violamos los mandamientos de Dios y cedemos a la tentación, aun después de salvos. Muchas personas saben qué hacer en esta situación. Veamos lo que dice la Biblia. La Palabra de Dios enseña que después que hemos sido salvos y experimentado el perdón de Dios, nuestro deseo por pecar disminuye grandemente (Romanos 6:1-2).

La Biblia reconoce el hecho que aun después de ser salvos, nosotros frecuentemente le faltamos a Dios. Es en esos tiempos que debemos venir a Dios en oración y decirle, “Estoy luchando. Estoy faltándote y no estoy haciendo bien. Perdóname y ayúdame.” El perdón se concede el momento que se pide. Nuestro sentir de perdón, sin embargo, puede tomarse algún tiempo. La Palabra de Dios dice que crecemos en nuestra comprensión de la gracia de Dios (II Pedro 3:18). En cuanto más llegamos a ser como Cristo y somos transformados a su semejanza y a su voluntad, lo más que nos damos cuenta de Su naturaleza imponente y que tan grande es el golfo entre Dios y la humanidad. ¡Nuestra salvación se vuelve en un simple creciente milagro a nosotros! Tenemos un creciente deseo de guardar nuestros corazones en contra las tentaciones del diablo porque nuestra Salvación es tan preciosa para nosotros.

La Palabra de Dios enseña que cada vez que tenemos una conciencia de nuestro pecado; debemos pedir el perdón de Dios. Nunca debe haber un tiempo cuando debemos sentirnos “más allá” la habilidad de Dios para perdonarnos. Hay algunos que dicen, “Yo he pecado muchas veces que yo pienso que Dios no me perdonará una vez más,” o “He cometido un pecado, aun cuando sabía lo que estaba haciendo. ¿Cómo puede Dios perdonar eso?” El hecho es, que Dios perdona todo nuestros pecados. No podemos comprender tal misericordia, pero es verdad sin embargo.

Seguramente si Jesús enseñó a Sus discípulos que ellos tenían que perdonar a otros “setenta veces siete” por lo pecados que ellos cometieron contra ellos, Dios es capaz de perdonarnos de igual manera y aun mas (I Juan 1:9, Mat. 18:21-22, Salmo 86:5).

DEJAR IR SU PASADO

Después que has pedido a Dios Su perdón, el próximo paso hacia la liberación de la culpabilidad es dejar ir su pasado. Hay muchos que son frecuentadas por sus pecados del pasado. Ellos no han sido capaces de perdonarse ellos mismos y dejar ir su pasado. La Biblia nos dice que una vez que nos hemos arrepentido de nuestros pecados, Dios ambos los perdona y los olvida (Isa. 43:25). No es Dios quien nos recuerda de nuestros pecados pasados. Mas bien, es el diablo, quien la Biblia llama el “acusador” (Apoc. 12:10). Cuando Ud. se enfrenta con imágenes o las memorias de pecados que ya se han perdonado, dígale al diablo, “Rehusó aceptar estos pensamientos. Dios ya me ha perdonado de todo eso. Diablo, tú no tienes nada conmigo.” (Isa. 43:25, Salmo 103:11-14).

Siempre debemos recordar que el pecar y cometer un error son dos cosas diferentes el uno del otro. El pecado es una elección para hacer algo que sabemos está en contra la voluntad de Dios. Es un acto intencional, uno que se calcula, medita, anticipa y totalmente consciente. Es deliberadamente ir en contra de lo que nosotros sabemos que es correcto en los ojos de Dios. Un error es un impulso del momento, que no se ha pensado y se hace sin premeditación de consecuencias, un error en juicio.

Tenemos que hacerle frente a nuestros errores y aprender de ellos. Tenemos que hacer compensación si hemos herido alguien con nuestros errores. También debemos pedirle a Dios que nos ayude para no cometer los mismos errores otra vez. No debemos golpearnos, nosotros mismos, emocionalmente por los errores que hemos cometido. El hacer errores es humano. Mientras vivimos, vamos hacer errores.

La culpabilidad falsa ocurre cuando una persona siente la culpa que apropiadamente pertenece a otra persona. Este tipo de culpabilidad es experimentado frecuentemente por esos quien son las víctimas de abuso o el rechazo. Los padres de jóvenes quien se ha rebelado contra la Palabra de Dios también tienden a sentir esta culpabilidad. Las victimas se sienten que ellos deben haber fracasado en alguna manera y así, ellos han contribuido al rechazo y la rebelión. Por lo tanto, ellos se sienten culpables por haber causado el pecado de alguien otro. Si Ud. retiene culpabilidad falsa, Ud. debe de dejarla ir de su vida.

LA CULPABILIDAD QUE VIENE DE UN CONCEPTO FALSO DE DIOS

Un sentir persistente de culpabilidad, no relacionado a un pecado específico, un error, o falta de obediencia es un sentir que mucha gente parece tener. Este sentir no tiene que ver nada con lo que uno sabe que es verdad según las Escrituras y lo que es la verdad sobre la salvación y el perdón. Es un sentir que está arraigado en nuestra percepción de Dios. Como la persona que mencionamos al principio, creyó que Dios era un juez muy áspero  y duro. El sentía que tenía que ser perfecto para que Dios lo aceptara y lo amare y como él sabía que no era perfecto, el se sentía culpabilidad que  le había fallado a Dios.

Si Ud. está luchando con una percepción falsa de Dios, le aconsejo que tome tiempo para estudiar la Biblia. Vea por ti mismo como Dios realmente es. Dios comprende sus debilidades y abatimientos y El te ama a pesar de ellos. El amor de Dios para con Ud. es incondicional. No limita la capacidad de Dios para amar. Es infinito. Rehusé confiar en su sentir que aprendió o adquirió del hombre en cuanto a Dios, que casi por lo regular es inexacto. Confía, en cambio, la verdad presentada en la Palabra de Dios. Base su sentir sobre el fundamento seguro del amor de Dios como se revela en Su Palabra (Juan 3:16-17, I Juan 4:16,19).

STRENGTH IN TIME OF GUILT

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” (Philippians 3:13)

Many people develop their concept of God based upon the behavior of their parents. A person who I was counseling told me that when he was nine his father died and when he died, a little bit of his concept of God was established that said, in effect, “God has left you too.” His mother worked full-time and he spent many hours alone after school. He came to believe, “God is away somewhere with somebody else.”

God was remote to him and He was a hard, harsh God from his perspective as a lonely, anxious, insecure child. He saw God as the one who had authority and in that regard, He was very much like his stepfather; mean, abusive, out to put him down and drive him out.

He had seen God’s hand at work in church and in his grandfather’s life to the point that he had the faith to believe in God. He knew the Bible stories well enough to know about Jesus and what He had done. Still, God was such a mystery that he never truly felt He was accessible to him. He had a strong feeling that he needed to be more holy so that God might come closer.

No matter how much he read the Bible, he felt he needed to read more. No matter how much he prayed, he felt he had not prayed enough. He felt certain that God was keeping score on every aspect of his behavior. And the end result was a heavy emotional sense of guilt.

Many people have had a similar experience in their lives. They try to get good enough for God to approve of them, they perform for God so that He might reward them, they try to do enough good works so that they can get over an abiding sense of guilt that they aren’t doing enough for God.

WHAT TO DO WHEN WE SIN

Many people believe that after they are saved all feelings of guilt are completely removed from their life, but that is not so. The sense of guilt will continue to manifest itself periodically. This does not mean that you are not saved. You were cleansed and forgiven the day you gave your heart to Jesus. What you face is what many Christians have to face, that we continue to sin, to break God’s commandments and to give in to temptation. They don’t know what to do about the fact that they continue to sin after they are saved and they don’t know what to do with these “sins.” Let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say about this.

First, the Bible says that after we have experienced salvation, our desire for sin diminishes. The desire for sin is greatly diminished upon experiencing God’s forgiveness (Romans 6:1-2). The Bible acknowledges the fact that even after we are saved, we often slip up. It is in those times that we must come to God, praying, “I’m struggling. I’m not doing well. I’m failing. Please forgive me and help me.” Forgiveness is granted the moment it is requested. Our feeling forgiven, however, may take some time.

The Word of God teaches that we grow in our understanding of God’s grace (II Peter 3:18). The more we become like Jesus and are conformed to His will and likeness, the more we realize the awesome nature of God and how great the gulf is between God and mankind. Our salvation becomes an ever-increasing miracle to us! We have an increasing desire to guard our hearts against the temptations of the devil because our Salvation is so precious to us. Each and every time we have an awareness of our sin; we are to ask for God’s forgiveness. There never is a time when we should feel that we are “beyond” God’s ability to forgive us.

There are some who say, “I’ve sinned so many time that I don’t think God will forgive me one more time,” or “I’ve committed a sin even though I knew better. How can God forgive that?” The fact is God forgives all our sin. We cannot comprehend such mercy, but it is real nonetheless. Surely if Jesus taught His disciples that they were to forgive other people up to “seventy times seven” for sins committed against them, God is able to forgive us that many times and more (I John 1:9, Matt. 18:21-22, Psalm 86:5).

LETTING GO OF YOUR PAST

Once you have asked for God’s forgiveness, the next step toward being free from guilt is to let go of your past. There are many people who are haunted by their past sins. They have not been able to forgive themselves and let go of their past. The Word of God teaches us that once we have repented of our sins, God both forgives them and forgets them (Isaiah 43:25). It is not God who reminds you of past sins. Rather, it is the devil, whom the Bible calls the “accuser” (Rev. 12:10). When you are confronted with images or memories of sins that have already been forgiven, tell the devil, “I refuse to accept these thoughts, God has already forgiven me of that Devil, you have no hold on my mind” (Isaiah 43:25, Psalm 103:11-14).

We have to understand that sin and mistakes are different from each other. A sin is a choice to do something that we know is against God’s will. It is a willful act, one that is calculated, thought out, anticipated and fully conscious. It is deliberately flying in the face of what we know is right in God’s eyes. A mistake is an urge of the moment, unplanned and made without forethought of consequences, an error in judgment.

We are to face up to our mistakes and learn from them. We are to make compensation if we have hurt anyone in our mistakes. We should also ask God to help us not to make the same mistake again. We must not beat ourselves up emotionally over the mistakes we make. To make mistakes is human. As long as we are alive, we are going to make mistakes.

False guilt occurs when a person feels the guilt that appropriately belongs to another person. This kind of guilt is often experienced by those who are the victims of abuse or rejection. Parents of teenagers who rebel against God’s Word also tend to feel this guilt. The victims feel that they must have failed in some way and thus, they have contributed to the rejection and rebellion. Therefore, they feel guilty for having caused the sin of someone else. If you are holding on to false guilt, you must let go of it.

GUILT THAT ARISES FROM A FALSE CONCEPT OF GOD:

A persistent feeling of guilt, not related to a specific sin, mistake, or lack of obedience is a feeling that many people seem to have. This feeling has nothing to do with what a person knows to be true about the Scriptures and about what it means to be saved or forgiven. It is a feeling that is rooted in our perception of God.

Like the person that we mentioned at the being, he believed God to be a very harsh, hard judge. He felt that he had to be perfect in order for God to accept him and love him and since he knew that he was not perfect, he had feelings of guilt that he had failed God. What was wrong her was not his sinful state, that had been changed when he was saved, but his concept of God.

If you are struggling with a false perception of God, I encourage you to take time to study the Bible. See for yourself how God really is. God understands your frailties and weaknesses and He loves you in spite of them. God’s love for you is unconditional. Don’t limit God’s capacity to love. It is infinite. Refuse to trust your feelings about God that you learned or acquired from man, which are mostly inaccurate. Trust, instead, the truth presented in God’s Word. Base how you feel on the sure foundation of God’s love as revealed in His Word (John 3:16-17, I John 4:16, 19).
