Most people cannot stand waiting. Waiting is a real
problem for most of us. Why do we have problems with waiting? Why does God many
times make us wait? Some have called this the “microwave age”, we want
everything now. Prayer calls for endurance.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH
If we are ever going to grow in the Lord, we are
going to have to learn the secret of waiting on God. To hurry God is to find
fault with Him. God is never late, but He does not always come when you want
Him to. Have you ever gotten angry with God or frustrated because He did not do
what you thought He should have done when you thought he should have done it.
PRAYER
Has prayer reinforced your faith or weakened it
because you did not get an answer when you prayed? Why do you pray? Most of us
pray because we want something or need something. Do we need to develop a
larger vision of prayer? How do we do that?

Do these references lead us to believe that God is
slow in answering our prayers? There must be something about prayer that we are
not seeing. I believe we have certainly misunderstood what the Bible teaches
about prayer and how God answers.
Part of our problem is that there are certain
conditions laid out in the Word of God for prayer to be answered (II Chron.
7:14; Jer. 29:13; Mark 11:24; James 5:13, I John 3:22). They are: humbling
yourself, praying, seeking God’s face, convert from our evil ways, believe,
sing praises, keep His commandments, and do what is pleasing to Him.
