La palabra pasión puede asemejarse con determinación, valentía, coraje, firmeza y perseverancia.

En la Biblia, la pasión se describe como una fuerza poderosa que impulsa a las personas a seguir su llamado y servir a Dios de todo corazón, lo que refleja una intensa devoción y compromiso con los esfuerzos espirituales. La pasión alimenta nuestra fe y enciende un ferviente celo por el Reino de Dios. Puede ser una fuerza poderosa cuando se guía por principios bíblicos.

La pasión humana, cuando está alineada con la voluntad de Dios, puede ser una fuerza poderosa para el bien. El apóstol Pablo, en su carta a los Romanos, anima a los creyentes a ser fervientes en espíritu, sirviendo al Señor. Romanos 12:11 dice: “No desfallezca vuestro celo; sed fieles al Señor”. Esta exhortación subraya la importancia de mantener un compromiso apasionado con la obra y los propósitos de Dios.

Sin embargo, la Biblia también advierte sobre los peligros de la pasión humana mal dirigida o descontrolada. Santiago 1:14-15 advierte: “Sino que cada uno es tentado cuando es atraído y seducido por sus propios malos deseos. Luego, después que la pasión ha concebido, da a luz el pecado; y el pecado, siendo consumado, da a luz la muerte”. Aquí se ilustra la progresión del deseo desenfrenado al pecado y, en última instancia, a la muerte espiritual, lo que sirve como advertencia contra el hecho de permitir que la pasión nos aleje de los mandamientos de Dios.

Ya sea en casa, en el trabajo o en el ministerio, cuando damos lo mejor de nosotros, honramos a Dios, demostrando nuestra pasión por Él en todas las áreas de la vida.

En Romanos 12:11, se nos anima a ser “fervientes en espíritu” o “encendidos” por Dios, un fuego que alimenta nuestro entusiasmo por servirlo y buscarlo con todo nuestro corazón. El fuego representa un profundo amor y una devoción apasionada a Dios. El fuego no solo tiene que ver con la purificación y el juicio, sino que también es un símbolo de la pasión por Dios. De manera similar, Apocalipsis 3:15-16 advierte contra la fe tibia. Este versículo enfatiza la necesidad del fervor espiritual, llamándonos a estar completamente comprometidos y encendidos por Dios, en lugar de ser indiferentes o a medias en nuestra fe.

ESTAR EN FUEGO POR DIOS

Cuando hablamos de tener un “fuego por Dios”, estamos hablando de un deseo profundo e incansable de conocerlo, amarlo y darlo a conocer. Así como un fuego que se propaga, nuestra pasión por Dios debe ser contagiosa, atrayendo a otros hacia su amor y gracia.

Jesús mismo habló de este tipo de fuego cuando dijo en Lucas 12:49: “Fuego he venido a echar sobre la tierra; ¡y cómo quisiera que ya estuviera encendido!” Este fuego representa la pasión que Jesús desea encender en sus seguidores: un fuego que purifica, transforma y difunde el Evangelio.

¿QUÉ SIGNIFICA MANTENER EL FUEGO ENCENDIDO?

En el Antiguo Testamento, se instruía a los sacerdotes a mantener el fuego del altar encendido en todo momento, sin dejar que se apagara nunca (Levítico 6:13). Este fuego continuo era una señal de devoción y adoración, que representaba la presencia continua de Dios en la vida de su pueblo.

Para nosotros hoy, mantener el fuego encendido significa nutrir nuestra relación con Dios a diario. Se trata de pasar tiempo en su Palabra, en oración y en adoración, permitiendo que el Espíritu Santo mantenga nuestra fe viva y vibrante. Es fácil dejar que el fuego se apague cuando quedamos atrapados en los negocios de la vida, pero Dios nos llama a cuidar la llama, a mantener viva nuestra pasión por Él.

LA DIFERENCIA ENTRE LA PASIÓN DE DIOS Y LOS DESEOS MUNDANOS

La Biblia establece una clara distinción entre la pasión de Dios y los deseos mundanos, y enfatiza la importancia de alinear nuestro corazón con la voluntad de Dios. Cuando abordamos nuestra fe con entusiasmo y celo, nos abrimos a experiencias transformadoras que pueden moldear nuestro carácter y fortalecer nuestra conexión con Dios. El apóstol Pablo, en su carta a los romanos, exhorta a los creyentes a ser fervientes en espíritu, sirviendo al Señor (Romanos 12:11), enfatizando la importancia de la devoción apasionada en nuestra vida espiritual.

Como nos recuerda Santiago 1:2-3, “Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando os halléis en diversas pruebas, pues sabéis que la prueba de vuestra fe produce constancia”. Cuando iniciamos nuestro viaje espiritual con pasión, estamos mejor equipados para enfrentar los obstáculos con determinación y fe inquebrantable, y finalmente emergemos más fuertes y más maduros en nuestra relación con Dios.

WHY IS PASSION IMPORTANT?

Passion fuels our faith and ignites a fervent zeal for God’s Kingdom. It can be a powerful force when guided by biblical principles.

Human passion, when aligned with God’s will, can be a powerful force for good. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans, encourages believers to be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. Romans 12:11 says, “Let not your zeal fail; be faithful to the Lord.” This exhortation underscores the importance of maintaining a passionate commitment to God’s work and purposes.

However, the Bible also warns about the dangers of misdirected or uncontrolled human passion. James 1:14-15 warns, “But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires. Then, after passion has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” The progression from unbridled desire to sin and ultimately to spiritual death is illustrated here, serving as a warning against allowing passion to lead us away from God’s commandments.

As believers, our passion should be directed toward serving God, whether through prayer, worship, or our daily actions. By maintaining our spiritual fervor, we can fulfill our calling and live out our faith with energy and enthusiasm, showing others the love of Christ in all we do.

Passion in our work is a reflection of our passion for the Lord. Colossians 3:23 teaches us to approach every task with wholehearted dedication, knowing that our ultimate purpose is to serve God. Whether at home, at work, or in ministry, when we give our best, we honor God by demonstrating our passion for Him in all areas of life.

BEING ON FIRE FOR GOD

When we talk about having a “fire for God,” we are talking about a deep and tireless desire to know Him, love Him, and make Him known. Just like a fire that spreads, our passion for God should be contagious, drawing others into His love and grace.

Jesus Himself spoke of this kind of fire when He said in Luke 12:49, “I have come to send fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!” This fire represents the passion that Jesus desires to kindle in His followers, a fire that purifies, transforms, and spreads the Gospel.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO KEEP THE FIRE BURNING?

In the Old Testament, priests were instructed to keep the altar fire burning at all times, never letting it go out (Leviticus 6:13). This continual fire was a sign of devotion and worship, representing God’s ongoing presence in the lives of His people.

For us today, keeping the fire burning means nurturing our relationship with God on a daily basis. It is about spending time in His Word, in prayer, and in worship, allowing the Holy Spirit to keep our faith alive and vibrant. It’s easy to let the fire go out when we get caught up in the business of life, but God calls us to tend the flame, to keep our passion for Him alive.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOD’S PASSION AND WORLDLY DESIRES

The Bible draws a clear distinction between God’s passion and worldly desires, and emphasizes the importance of aligning our hearts with God’s will. God’s passion is rooted in a deep love for God and a desire to serve Him, while worldly desires often arise from selfish motivations and temporary pleasures. It is essential for believers to understand this fundamental difference as they navigate their spiritual path and seek to live a life that pleases God.

In the Bible we find numerous examples that highlight the contrast between these two types of passion. For example, the Apostle Paul’s unwavering dedication to spreading the gospel demonstrates God’s passion, while King Solomon’s pursuit of earthly pleasures in the book of Ecclesiastes illustrates the emptiness of worldly desires. One of the saddest example of balancing passion and wisdom can be found in the life of King Solomon. Despite his initial passion to serve God and lead his people, his unbridled desires eventually led him away from his divine purpose. This serves as a powerful reminder that even the wisest among us must continually seek God’s guidance to maintain a healthy balance between our passions and His will. The Bible teaches us that true wisdom comes from God, and when we align our passions with His wisdom, we can accomplish extraordinary things for His kingdom.

The apostle Paul provides an excellent example of someone who successfully balanced passion with wisdom in his ministry. His zeal to spread the gospel was tempered by his deep knowledge of God’s word and his willingness to seek divine guidance. Paul’s letters to the early churches often emphasize the importance of combining fervent faith with sound doctrine, illustrating the perfect harmony between passion and wisdom. As we strive to emulate this balance in our own lives, we can look to Paul’s teachings and example for inspiration and guidance.

NUESTRA GUERRA ESPIRITUAL

“Pues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne; porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas en Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas, derribando argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia a Cristo, y estando prontos para castigar toda desobediencia, cuando vuestra obediencia sea perfecta.” (II Corintios 10:3-6)

Hay dos frentes de batalla principales que enfrenta la iglesia. Están los problemas auto infligidos o auto perpetrados. Estos problemas son provocados por nuestra propia negligencia o indiferencia, es decir, no pagar nuestras cuentas; no cuidar nuestra salud; no hacer el mantenimiento adecuado de nuestro automóvil o casa, etc.

Luego están los problemas infligidos o perpetuados por Satanás. El diablo usará cualquier cosa o a cualquier persona que pueda para oponerse a nosotros y obstaculizarnos. Él usará a personas, como familiares, amigos, vecinos, compañeros de trabajo, incluso extraños. Usará cosas, como un trabajo, un automóvil, dispositivos mecánicos, incluso el clima. Aunque Satanás usa personas y cosas, nuestro verdadero enemigo no es una persona específica ni las cosas que se usan. El enemigo es el diablo.

Una cosa que todo hijo de Dios debe saber es que el diablo ya es un enemigo derrotado. Jesús se encargó de él por nosotros. Pero lo que debemos hacer es apropiarnos de las obras de Cristo del Calvario en nuestra vida diaria. Si alguna vez podemos dominar la carne y sus deseos, ¡la conquista del Diablo es muy fácil! Él no es, y sabe que no es, rival para el hijo de Dios que ha conquistado su vida egoísta y sirve al Señor con todo su corazón. Jesús dijo en Lucas 10:19: “He aquí, os doy poder (autoridad) para hollar serpientes y escorpiones, y sobre todo poder (habilidades milagrosas) del enemigo”.

Efesios 6:11-12 nos dice que: “Vestíos de toda la armadura de Dios, para que podáis estar firmes contra las asechanzas del diablo, porque no tenemos lucha contra sangre y carne”. En este versículo, la palabra asechanzas significa los diversos medios, planes y esquemas utilizados por el diablo. Aquí la palabra luchar significa golpear, empujar o lanzar con violencia e intensidad. Se refiere a la guerra en general entre los hijos de Dios y los espíritus malignos que están decididos a destruirnos. Así que, como puedes ver, nuestra batalla no es contra sangre y carne (personas o cosas), sino una batalla espiritual con el enemigo, nuestra alma, Satanás.

Efesios 6:12 dice: “Porque no tenemos lucha contra sangre y carne, sino contra principados, contra potestades, contra los gobernadores de las tinieblas de este siglo, contra huestes espirituales de maldad en las regiones celestiales”. En este versículo, el apóstol Pablo usa cuatro palabras descriptivas para hacernos entender exactamente contra qué y contra quién estamos luchando. Como puedes ver en esta Escritura, hay cuatro niveles de guerra espiritual.

En primer lugar están los Principados, que son los gobernantes principales o seres de más alto rango y orden en el reino satánico. Cada nación y ciudad del mundo tiene un principado sobre ella.

En segundo lugar, están los Poderes, que son aquellos que derivan su poder de los gobernantes principales (principados), influencias sobrenaturales en el gobierno y que ejecutan su voluntad.

En tercer lugar, están los Gobernantes de las Tinieblas. Estos son los gobernantes del mundo espiritual, o señores de la era. Tales como la lujuria, la depresión, el miedo, la perversión, etc. que plagan a las personas personalmente.

Y en cuarto lugar, tenemos la Maldad Espiritual. Estos son los espíritus malignos enviados por Satanás para hacer su trabajo. El diablo es, según Efesios 2:2: “El príncipe y potestad del aire”. Satanás no puede establecer un reino sobre un área a menos que el hombre se lo permita. Apocalipsis 2:12-13 nos revela que la influencia y el control satánicos solo residen donde los hombres le han dado su voluntad y autoridad para ejercer.

Satanás no eliminó el orden angélico de autoridad, sino que lo mantuvo y lo usa donde los hombres le dan control. De esta manera, ha ganado cierta medida de control de muchos sistemas y gobiernos mundiales. Recuerde esto: El dominio del enemigo es sólo territorial. ¡Él no es el gobernante ni el controlador del mundo! La Biblia dice en Salmos 24:1: “De Jehová es la tierra y su plenitud”.

Satanás tiene muchas limitaciones. No es tan poderoso como muchos proclaman que es. No es quien muchos piensa que es. No es igual a Dios. Satanás fue expulsado del cielo por declararse igual a Dios. Fue el pecado original en el cielo. Lucifer se atrevió a exaltarse para ser como Dios cuando claramente no lo era. Es un ángel caído. Está sujeto a las limitaciones de un ángel. Es equivalente a un ángel.

Él no es todopoderoso. Sólo Dios es todopoderoso. El poder de Satanás está limitado por lo que Dios le permite hacer en la tierra. No puede hacer ni más ni menos. 1 Juan 4:4 dice: “Hijitos, vosotros sois de Dios, y los habéis vencido; porque mayor es el que está en vosotros, que el que está en el mundo”.

Aunque Satanás no tiene el poder de “todo conocimiento” de Dios, sí tiene más conocimiento que la simple humanidad. Ha estado estudiando los hábitos de la humanidad durante más de 6.000 años. Está más consciente del fin de los tiempos que nosotros. Sabe que le queda poco tiempo.

No puede estar en todos los lugares a la vez. Dios llena el universo. Debido a que Satanás es un ángel caído, está limitado a un solo lugar a la vez. Puede ir de un lugar a otro tan rápidamente como un ángel, pero no puede estar en dos lugares a la vez. Aquí es donde entra en juego el mandato satánico. Él ordena a los espíritus que vayan de un lado a otro haciendo su voluntad.

El diablo no tiene la capacidad de conocer tus pensamientos ni de leer tu mente. Puedes orar en tu mente o en el espíritu, es decir, en lenguas, y él no puede saber lo que le estás pidiendo a Dios o reprendiendo en tu mente. Él ni siquiera sabe si las tentaciones que lanza en tu mente están funcionando a menos que las manifiestes externamente o te detengas en ellas. Cuando seas tentado, comienza a pensar buenos pensamientos u ora. Los malos pensamientos huirán y la estrategia de Satanás será derrotada.

Como hijos de Dios, no ignoramos sus artimañas. Satanás es un mentiroso y el padre de todos los mentirosos. Todas las mentiras provienen de él. Su mayor mentira es que tiene poder sobre ti, tu vida, tu familia, tu trabajo, etc. ¡Esto no es verdad! A medida que entendemos sus mentiras, nos volvemos más poderosos en nuestra lucha contra el mal. Él no puede obtener una ventaja sobre nosotros si conocemos sus trucos. ¿Cómo aprendemos sus trucos? Leyendo en las Escrituras donde trató de hacer tropezar a otros hombres y mujeres de Dios. Todavía usa las mismas viejas tácticas hoy.

¿Qué armas de guerra tiene el hijo de Dios a su disposición para combatir al diablo? Tenemos el Nombre de Jesús. Al oír ese nombre el diablo y sus demonios tiemblan. Tenemos poder notarial. Dios nos ha dado el derecho de usar Su nombre porque somos sus hijos y hemos sido bautizados en Su nombre para el perdón de nuestros pecados.

Tenemos el poder y la autoridad de Su espíritu en nosotros. Lucas 10:19 nos dice: “He aquí os doy autoridad sobre todo poder del enemigo”. La palabra poder como se usa en este versículo viene de la palabra griega Dunamis. Es de esta palabra griega de donde obtenemos la palabra “dinamita”. Mateo 10:1 dice: “Y llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos, para que los echasen fuera, y para sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia”.

También tenemos el poder de la oración y el ayuno. Donde hay mucha oración y ayuno, hay mucho poder; Donde hay poca oración y ayuno, hay poco poder; donde no hay oración ni ayuno, no hay poder en absoluto. El diablo no puede con un hijo de Dios que ora y ayuna.Tenemos muchas otras armas de guerra a nuestra disposición, como la Palabra de Dios, la Preciosa Sangre de Jesús, nuestro testimonio, etc.

Como hijos de Dios, nos oponemos a las filosofías de la época que compiten por una fortaleza en la sociedad. Esto incluye cosas como el humanismo, la evolución, el aborto, la Nueva Era, los sistemas de valores inmorales, etc. Nos oponemos al dogma y la tradición de la religión hecha por el hombre.

Nos oponemos a los pensamientos y actitudes de personas sin Dios que pretenden cambiar las leyes de nuestra nación para que sean leyes y normas contrarias a Dios. Desafiamos y pretendemos destruir, mediante la oración, toda teoría, razonamiento, religión, mitología, metafísica, doctrinas sublimes o filosofías que se propongan dividir o desafiar el conocimiento del Dios viviente. Esto incluye todo pensamiento que sea contrario a la virtud, la pureza y la rectitud. La iglesia está siempre dispuesta a luchar contra todo lo que se oponga a la Palabra de Dios.

 

 

OUR SPIRITUAL WARFARE

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (II Corinthians 10:3-6)

There are two main battle fronts that the church faces. There are the self-inflicted or self perpetuated problems. These problems are brought on by our own negligence or indifference, which is, not paying our bill; not taking care of our health; not doing proper maintenance on our auto or home, etc.

Then there are the Satanic-inflicted or Satanic-perpetuated problems. The devil will use anything or anyone he can to oppose and hinder us. He will use people, such as family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, even strangers. He will use things, such as a job, car, mechanical devices, even the weather. Though Satan uses people and things, our real enemy is not a specific person or the things being used. The enemy is the devil.

One thing that every child of God should know is that the devil is already a defeated foe! Jesus took care of him for us. But what we need to do is appropriate the works of Christ of Calvary in our daily lives. If we can ever master the flesh and its desires, the conquest of the Devil is a snap! He is, and knows that he is, no match for the child of God who has conquered his self-life and server the Lord with all his heart. Jesus said in Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give you power (authority) to tread on serpents and scorpions and over ALL power (miraculous abilities) of the enemy”

Ephesians 6:11-12 tells us to; “Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood.” In this verse the word wiles means, the various means, plans and schemes used by the devil. Here the word, wrestle means to strike, thrust or throw with violence and intensity. It refers to the warfare in general between the children of God and the evil spirits that are out to destroy us. So, you see our battle is not against flesh and blood (persons or things) but a spiritual battle with the enemy our soul, Satan.

Ephesians 6:12 states:  “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly place.” In this verse the Apostle Paul uses four descriptive words to make us understand exactly what and who we are fighting against. As you can see from this Scripture, there are four levels of spiritual warfare.

Number one are the Principalities, these are the chief rulers or beings of the highest rank and order in the satanic kingdom. Every single nation and city in the world has a principality over it.

 Second there are the Powers, these are those who derive their power from and who execute the will of the chief rulers (principalities), supernatural influences in government.

Thirdly there are the Rulers of the Darkness. These are the spirit-world rulers, or lords of the age. Such as lust, depression, fear, perversion, etc. that plague people personally.

And fourthly, we have Spiritual Wickedness. These are the wicked spirits sent by Satan to do his work. The devil is, according to Ephesians 2:2: “The prince and power of the air.” Satan cannot set up a kingdom over an area unless man permits him. Revelation 2:12-13 reveals to us that satanic influence and control only resides where men have given him their will and authority to exercise.

Satan did not do away with the angelic order of authority, but kept it and uses it where men give him control. In this manner he has gained some measure of control of many world systems and governments. Remember this; the enemy’s domain is only territorial. He is not the ruler and controller of the world! The Bible says in Psalms 24:1: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”

Satan has many limitations. He is not as powerful as many proclaim him to be. He is not who many think he is. He is not equal with God. Satan was cast out of heaven for declaring himself equal with God. It was the original sin in heaven. Lucifer dared to exalt himself to be like God when he clearly was not. He is a fallen angel. He is subject to the limitations of an angle. He is equivalent to an angel.

He is not all powerful. Only God is all powerful. Satan’s power is limited by what God allows him to do in the earth. He can do no more or no less. I John 4:4 says: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Though Satan does not have the “all knowing” power of God, he does have more knowledge than mere humanity. He has been studying humanity’s habits for over 6,000. He is more aware of the end of time than we are. He knows that his time is short.

He cannot be in all places at once. God fills the universe. Because Satan is a fallen angel he is limited to one place at a time. He can go from place to place as swiftly as an angel, but he cannot be in two places at once. This is where satanic command comes into play. He orders spirits to go to and fro doing his will.

The devil does not have the ability to know your thoughts or read your mind. You can pray in your mind or in the spirit, that is in tongues, and he cannot know what you are asking God or rebuking in your mind. He doesn’t even know if the temptations he drops in your mind are working unless you manifest them outwardly or dwell on them. When you are tempted, start thinking good thoughts or pray. The evil thoughts will flee and Satan’s strategy is defeated.

As children of God, we are not ignorant of his devices. Satan is a liar and the father of all liars. All lies come from him. His biggest lie is that he has power over you, your life, your family, your job, etc. This is not true! As we understand his lies, we become more powerful in our fight against evil. He cannot get an advantage over us if we know his tricks. How do we learn his tricks? By reading in the scriptures where he tried to trip up other men and women of God. He still uses the same old tactics today.

What weapons of warfare does the child of God have at his disposal to combat the devil? We have the Name of Jesus. At the sound of that name the devil and his demons tremble. We have power of attorney. God has given us the right to use His name because we are his children and have been baptized in His name for the forgiveness of our sins.

We have the power and the authority of His spirit in us. Luke 10:19 tells us: “Behold I give you power over all power of the enemy.” The word power as used in this verse comes from the Greek word Dunamis. It is from this Greek word that we get the word “dynamite”. Matthew 10:1 says: “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”

We also have the power of prayer and fasting. Where there is much prayer and fasting, there is much power; where there is little prayer and fasting, there is little power; where there is no prayer or fasting, there is no power at all. The devil can’t handle a child of God who prays and fasts.

We have many other weapons of warfare at our disposal such as the Word of God, the Precious Blood of Jesus, our testimony, etc.

As the children of God we stand against the philosophies of the day which are competing for a stronghold in society. This includes such things as humanism, evolution, abortion, New Age, immoral value systems, etc. We stand against the dogma and tradition of manmade religion.

We stand against the thinking and attitudes of Godless people who intend to change the laws of our nation to anti-God laws and standards. We defy and intend to destroy, through prayer, all theory, reasoning, religion, mythology, metaphysics, sublime doctrines or philosophy set forth to divide or defy the knowledge of the living God. This includes all thinking which is contrary to virtue, purity and righteousness. The church stand at all times ready to fight against anything opposing the Word of God.

 

 

DIOS NO NOS HA DADO UN ESPÍRITU DE TEMOR

“Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.” (II Timoteo 1:7)

La frase “Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor” se deriva de II Timoteo 1:7, donde el apóstol Pablo anima a Timoteo a ser valiente en su fe. Esta escritura enfatiza que el temor y la timidez no vienen de Dios. En cambio, Dios nos otorga un espíritu de poder, amor y una mente sana. Entender este versículo es crucial para los cristianos que enfrentan varios desafíos e incertidumbres en la vida.

CONTEXTO Y SIGNIFICADO

En su segunda carta a Timoteo, Pablo aborda la timidez y los temores de Timoteo acerca de sus responsabilidades. Pablo tranquiliza a Timoteo recordándole que su temor no viene de Dios. En este contexto, la palabra griega para “temor” es “Delia”, que se traduce como cobardía o timidez en lugar del temor reverencial a Dios que se menciona a menudo en la Biblia.

Pablo quería fortalecer la determinación de Timoteo de predicar el Evangelio a pesar de su persecución y sus desafíos. Enfatizó que el Espíritu Santo otorga a los creyentes poder, amor y autocontrol, cualidades necesarias para vivir una vida victoriosa, firme y eficaz en el Señor.

PODER, AMOR Y UNA MENTE SANA

El espíritu de poder mencionado en II Timoteo 1:7 significa la fuerza divina y el coraje que Dios concede para enfrentar las adversidades y cumplir su voluntad. Este poder permite a los creyentes resistir las tentaciones, soportar las dificultades y proclamar con valentía su fe. El mismo poder permitió a los primeros cristianos difundir el Evangelio a pesar de la severa persecución.

El espíritu de amor es un llamado al amor desinteresado y sacrificial hacia los demás, que refleja el amor de Cristo. Este amor capacita a los creyentes para actuar con compasión y gracia, sirviendo a los demás y haciendo avanzar el reino de Dios. El amor expulsa el temor, ya que el amor perfecto es completo y no deja lugar para el temor (I Juan 4:18).

UNA MENTE SANA, O AUTODISCIPLINA

Una mente sana, o autodisciplina, es crucial para mantener el enfoque y el control en medio de los desafíos de la vida. Implica tener una mente bien equilibrada, lo que permite a los creyentes tomar decisiones sabias, resistir las distracciones y vivir de acuerdo con los principios de Dios. Esta autodisciplina es esencial para el crecimiento espiritual y personal para vivir una vida eficaz para el Señor.

II Timoteo 1:7 nos sirve tanto como estímulo. No hay espíritu de temor, Dios no imparte un espíritu que nos haga retroceder por temor. En cambio, da un espíritu que nos envalentona y nos da poder. Este poder incluye el coraje para enfrentar los peligros y la fuerza para soportar las pruebas.

Amor: El amor a Dios y al prójimo se destaca como una fuerza impulsora que contrarresta el miedo.

Mente sana:

Este término se asocia con la prudencia y el autogobierno, lo que permite a los creyentes mantener la calma y el pensamiento racional incluso en situaciones difíciles.

Este versículo nos recuerda poderosamente que Dios equipa a sus seguidores con los atributos necesarios para vencer el miedo y servirle con amor.

Entender que el temor no viene de Dios anima a los creyentes a enfrentar sus ansiedades y desafíos con fe y confianza.

Confíe en la fuerza de Dios:

Reconozca que Dios proporciona el poder para enfrentar situaciones difíciles. Cuando surja el temor, busque la fuerza de Dios a través de la oración y confíe en sus promesas.

Acepte el amor:

Deje que el amor guíe sus acciones e interacciones. Muestre compasión y bondad a los demás, y permita que el amor sea la fuerza motivadora detrás de sus decisiones.

Practique la autodisciplina:

Cultive una mente sana desarrollando hábitos que promuevan la salud mental y espiritual. Participe en el estudio bíblico regular, la oración y la comunión con otros creyentes para fortalecer su fe y determinación.

El TEMOR ES UN ESPIRITU DEL DIABLO

Si el diablo puede crear temor y duda en tu corazón, enseguida te robará la fe y la esperanza. Creará dudas sobre tu matrimonio, tus finanzas, tu carrera o cualquier cosa que tenga potencial en tu vida.

El espíritu de temor es una de las fuerzas más engañosa, dañosa y debilitantes que pueden apoderarse del corazón de un creyente. Y puede ser sutil. Es crucial reconocer las señales de este espíritu y combatirlo con la verdad de la Palabra de Dios.

Estos son algunos indicadores de que alguien puede estar bajo la influencia de un espíritu de temor.

Ansiedad paralizante:

Una sensación de ansiedad que dificulta la capacidad de funcionar normalmente es un indicador del espíritu de miedo. Un miedo paralizante que parece controlar los pensamientos y las acciones de uno.

Filipenses 4:6-7: Combate este miedo presentando continuamente tus preocupaciones a Dios en oración y confiando en Su paz.

Comportamiento de evitación:

Cuando el temor dicta las acciones de uno, a menudo conduce a la evitación. Esto puede manifestarse en evitar personas, lugares o situaciones que desencadenen ansiedad, incluso si no hay una razón racional para el temor.

Josué 1:9: Anímenos a dar un paso de fe y a enfrentar los temores con el conocimiento de que Dios siempre está presente.

Pensamientos negativos:

Una mente consumida por el espíritu del temor a menudo está llena de pensamientos negativos. Esta negatividad puede llevar a una falta de esperanza y a una expectativa constante de los peores resultados.

Romanos 12:2: Reemplace los pensamientos negativos con la verdad de las Escrituras y las promesas de Dios, permitiendo que Su Palabra renueve su mente.

Síntomas físicos:

El temor puede manifestarse físicamente a través de síntomas como dolores de cabeza, problemas estomacales y fatiga general. Cuando el cuerpo está en un estado constante de miedo, afecta la salud y el bienestar general.

II Timoteo 1:7: Reclama el poder, el amor y la mente sana que Dios te dio y ora por sanidad física y fortaleza.

Aislamiento:

Los que están bajo la influencia del espíritu de temor a menudo se aíslan. Este aislamiento puede intensificar los sentimientos de soledad y desesperanza.

Hebreos 10:25: Participe en comunión con otros creyentes que puedan brindar apoyo, aliento y oración.

Falta de fe:

Una señal significativa del espíritu de temor es la disminución de la fe en las promesas de Dios y en su capacidad para proteger y proveer. Esto puede llevar a un estancamiento espiritual y a una sensación de derrota espiritual.

Efesios 6:16: Fortalezca su fe por medio de la Palabra, la oración y el testimonio de la fidelidad de Dios.

COMO VENCER EL ESPÍRITU DEL TEMOR

Combatir el espíritu de temor requiere un esfuerzo deliberado y continuo en la guerra espiritual. Estos son los pasos prácticos que se pueden seguir:

1. Oración y ayuno: Comprométete a orar y ayunar regularmente para buscar la intervención de Dios y la liberación del espíritu de temor.

2. Meditación de las Escrituras: Sumérgete en las Escrituras que hablan de la paz, la protección y la provisión de Dios. Memoriza y medita en estos versículos diariamente.

3. Adorar: Participa en la adoración, declarando la grandeza de Dios y Su soberanía sobre cada situación. La adoración cambia el enfoque del temor a la fe.

4. Apoyo de la comunidad: Rodéate de una comunidad de creyentes que puedan ofrecer apoyo, oración y responsabilidad.

Recuerde, el espíritu de temor no proviene de Dios. Como creyentes, estamos equipados con toda la armadura de Dios (Efesios 6:10-18) para mantenernos firmes contra cualquier ataque. Al reconocer las señales y participar activamente en la guerra espiritual, podemos caminar en la libertad y la victoria que Cristo ya nos ha asegurado.

Mantente firme y no dejes que el temor domine tu vida. Confía en el Señor, que ha prometido estar contigo siempre, hasta el fin del mundo (Mateo 28:20).

El temor es una emoción humana natural, es importante recordar que Dios nos capacita para vencerlo. La Biblia contiene numerosos ejemplos en los que Dios le asegura a Su pueblo que no debe tener temor (Isaías 41:10, 1 Juan 4:18; Salmo 34:4; Josué 1:9; Proverbios 29:25; Salmo 56:3-4; Filipenses 4:6; Deuteronomio 31:6). En la Biblia, encontraremos que Dios nos anima a no temer o a no tener miedo. Hay más de 365 “no temas” en la Biblia. Esto nos permite saber que Dios entiende nuestras emociones humanas.

La razón por la que Satanás usa el temor como arma contra nosotros es que el temor está en oposición directa a la fe.

1. Disminuye nuestro coraje y nos hace retroceder

2. Afecta nuestra capacidad de hacer las cosas que necesitamos hacer

3. Roba nuestra paz mental

4. Influye en los pensamientos y acciones racionales de manera negativa

El temor causa debilidad y la debilidad nos derribará. Hay muchas razones por las que el diablo usa el temor para atacarnos. Satanás quiere:

1. Detener o retardar nuestro crecimiento espiritual

2. Disminuir nuestra fe en Dios

3. Confundirnos en nuestro caminar con Dios

4. Controlarnos y mantenernos atados

5. Apartarnos de Dios

CÓMO RESPONDER AL TEMOR

1. Echar todas nuestras preocupaciones sobre Dios: (1 Pedro 5:7)

     Lo primero que debemos hacer es entregar todo lo que temes, todo lo que te preocupa, todo lo que te pone ansioso o nervioso, entrégaselo todo a Jesús. Cuando el temor nos golpea, debemos orar y comenzar a echar todo ese temor sobre Jesús.

2. Ser llenos del Espíritu Santo (Hechos 13:52, Efesios 5:18)

     Los discípulos vencieron su temor no esforzándose más, sino obteniendo más del poder de Dios. Cuando el temor llega, podemos aprovechar la reserva del Espíritu Santo.

     Recuerda que él es nuestro consolador y ayudador y nos ayudará cuando tengamos miedo.

3. Confía (Salmo 56:3)

     Después de que hayas sido llenado del Espíritu Santo y has echado todas tus preocupaciones sobre Dios, lo único que queda por hacer es confiar. Sin importar cuán grande sea la oposición, Dios está contigo y no serás vencido. Se puede confiar en Él.

4. Conozca las promesas de Dios. Llénate del Espíritu Santo. Ve y haz lo que Dios te ha encomendado. Con su poder puedes hacerlo.

Concentrarnos en la presencia del Espíritu Santo dentro de nosotros también puede ayudar a disipar el temor. Al estar continuamente llenos del Espíritu, los creyentes pueden acceder al poder, el amor y la autodisciplina necesarios para vivir con valentía y fidelidad.

“Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor” es un profundo recordatorio de los recursos que Dios proporciona a sus seguidores. Entender y adoptar el espíritu de poder, amor y dominio propio puede transformar la manera en que los creyentes enfrentan los desafíos y viven su fe. Al confiar en la fortaleza de Dios, abrazar el amor y practicar la autodisciplina, los cristianos pueden superar el miedo y cumplir el propósito que Dios les ha dado con confianza y valentía.

GOD HAS NOT GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR

^“ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (I Timothy 1:7)

The phrase "God has not given us a spirit of fear" is derived from II Timothy 1:7, where the Apostle Paul encourages Timothy to be bold in his faith. This scripture emphasizes that fear and timidity does not come from God. Instead, God bestows upon us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Understanding this verse is crucial for Christians facing various challenges and uncertainties in life.

In his second letter to Timothy, Paul addresses Timothy's timidity and apprehensions about his responsibilities. Paul reassures Timothy by reminding him that his fear does not come from God. In this context, the Greek word for "fear" is "Delia," which translates to cowardice or timidity rather than the reverential fear of God often mentioned in the Bible.

Paul intended to strengthen Timothy's resolve to preach the Gospel despite his persecution and challenges. He emphasized that the Holy Spirit bestows believers with power, love, and self-control qualities necessary for a victorious, steadfast and effective life in the Lord.

POWER, LOVE, AND A SOUND MIND

The spirit of power mentioned in II Timothy 1:7 signify the divine strength and courage God grants to face adversities and fulfill His will. This power enables believers to withstand temptations, endure hardships, and boldly proclaim their faith. The same power enabled the early Christians to spread the Gospel despite severe persecution.

The spirit of love is a call to selfless, sacrificial love towards others, mirroring the love of Christ. This love empowers believers to act with compassion and grace, serving others and advancing God's kingdom. Love drives out fear, as perfect love is complete and leaves no room for fear (I John 4:18).

A sound mind, or self-discipline, is crucial for maintaining focus and control amidst life's challenges. It involves having a well-balanced mind, enabling believers to make wise decisions, resist distractions, and live according to God's principles. This self-discipline is essential for spiritual and personal growth to live an effective life for the Lord.

II Timothy 1:7 serves as an encouragement. There is no spirit of fear. God does not impart a spirit that causes us to shrink back in fear. Instead, He gives a spirit that emboldens and empowers.

Power: This power includes the courage to face dangers and the strength to endure trials.

Love: Love for God and others is highlighted as a driving force that counters fear.

Sound Mind:

This term is associated with prudence and self-governance, allowing believers to maintain calmness and rational thinking even in difficult situations. This verse reminds us that God equips His followers with the necessary attributes to overcome fear and serve Him with love.

Understanding that fear does not come from God encourages believers to confront their anxieties and challenges with faith and confidence.

Rely on God's Strength:

Recognize that God provides the power to face difficult situations. When fear arises, seek God's strength through prayer and trust His promises.

Embrace Love:

Let love guide your actions and interactions. Show compassion and kindness to others, and let love be the motivating force behind your decisions.

Practice Self-Discipline:

Cultivate a sound mind by developing habits that promote mental and spiritual health. Engage in regular Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with other believers to strengthen your faith and resolve.

FEAR IS A SPIRIT OF THE DEVIL

If the devil can create fear and doubt in your heart, he will quickly steal your faith and hope. He will create doubts about your marriage, your finances, your career, or anything that has potential in your life.

The spirit of fear is one of the most deceptive, damaging, and debilitating forces that can take hold of a believer's heart. And it can be subtle. It is crucial to recognize the signs of this spirit and combat it with the truth of God's Word.

Here are some indicators that someone may be under the influence of a spirit of fear.

Paralyzing Anxiety:

A feeling of anxiety that hinders the ability to function normally is an indicator of the spirit of fear, a paralyzing fear that seems to control one's thoughts and actions.

Philippians 4:6-7: Combat this fear by continually bringing your concerns to God in prayer and trusting in His peace.

Avoidance Behavior:

When fear dictates one’s actions, it often leads to avoidance. This can manifest itself in avoiding people, places, or situations that trigger anxiety, even if there is no rational reason for the fear.

Joshua 1:9: Encourage us to step out in faith and face fears with the knowledge that God is always present.

Negative Thoughts:

A mind consumed by the spirit of fear is often filled with negative thoughts. This negativity can lead to a lack of hope and a constant expectation of the worst outcomes.

Romans 12:2: Replace negative thoughts with the truth of Scripture and the promises of God, allowing His Word to renew your mind.

Physical Symptoms:

Fear can manifest itself physically through symptoms such as headaches, stomach problems, and general fatigue. When the body is in a constant state of fear, it affects overall health and well-being.

II Timothy 1:7: Claim the power, love, and sound mind God has given you and pray for physical healing and strength.

Isolation:

Those under the influence of the spirit of fear often isolate themselves. This isolation can intensify feelings of loneliness and hopelessness.

Hebrews 10:25: Engage in fellowship with other believers who can provide support, encouragement, and prayer.

Lack of Faith:

A significant sign of the spirit of fear is diminished faith in God’s promises and in His ability to protect and provide. This can lead to spiritual stagnation and a sense of spiritual defeat.

Ephesians 6:16: Strengthen your faith through the Word, prayer, and testimony of God’s faithfulness.

HOW TO OVERCOME THE SPIRIT OF FEAR

Combating the spirit of fear requires deliberate and ongoing effort in spiritual warfare. Here are practical steps you can take:

1. Prayer and Fasting: Commit to regular prayer and fasting to seek God’s intervention and deliverance from the spirit of fear.

2. Scripture Meditation: Immerse yourself in Scriptures that speak of God’s peace, protection, and provision. Memorize and meditate on these verses daily.

3. Worship: Engage in worship, declaring God’s greatness and sovereignty over every situation. Worship shifts the focus from fear to faith.

4. Community Support: Surround yourself with a community of believers who can offer support, prayer, and accountability.

Remember, the spirit of fear does not come from God. As believers, we are equipped with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) to stand firm against any attack. By recognizing the signs and actively engaging in spiritual warfare, we can walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has already secured for us.

Stand firm and do not let fear rule your life. Trust in the Lord, who has promised to be with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

While fear is a natural human emotion, it's important to remember that God equips us to overcome it. The Bible contains numerous instances where God reassures His people not to be afraid (Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:9, Psalm 24:4; 56:3-4, Proverbs 29:25, Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 4:6, I John 4:18). As we search through the bible we will find God encouraging us to fear not or don’t be afraid. There are over 365 “fear nots” in the Bible. This lets us know that God understands our human emotions.

Focusing on the Holy Spirit's presence within us can also help dispel fear. By continually being filled with the Spirit, believers can access the power, love, and self-discipline needed to live courageously and faithfully.

The reason Satan uses fear as a weapon against us is that fear is in direct opposition to faith.

FEAR:

1. Diminishes our courage and causes us to retreat

2; Affects our ability to do the things we need to do

3. Steals our peace of mind

4. Influences rational thoughts and actions in a negative way

Fear causes weakness and weakness will break us down. There are many reasons why the devil uses fear to attack us. Satan wants to:

1. Stop or slow our spiritual growth

2. Decrease our faith in God

3. Confuse us in our walk with God

4. Control us and keep us bound

5. Turn us from God

HOW TO RESPOND TO FEAR

1. Cast all our cares upon God: (I Peter 5:7)

     The first thing to do is to cast. Everything you fear, everything you are worried about, everything that makes you anxious or nervous, give it all to Jesus. When fear hits us, we must pray and start casting all of that fear on Jesus. 

2. Be Filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:52, Ephesians 5:18)

     The disciples overcame their fear not by trying harder but by getting more of the power of God. When fear comes we can tap into the reservoir of the Holy Spirit. Remember he is our comforter and helper and he will help us when we are afraid.  

3. Trust (Psalm 56:3)

     After you have casted and been filled, the only thing left to do is trust. Regardless of how great the opposition may be God is with you and you will not be overcome. He can be trusted. 

4. Get familiar with God’s promises. Get filled with the Holy Spirit. Go do what God has commissioned you to do. With his power you can do it. 

"God has not given us a spirit of fear" is a profound reminder of the resources God provides to His followers. Understanding and embracing the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind can transform how believers face challenges and live out their faith. By relying on God's strength, embracing love, and practicing self-discipline, Christians can overcome fear and fulfill their God-given purpose with confidence and courage.
